While common sense tells nearly everybody else not to park there, some folks are so free parking mindset that common sense eludes them. The best way for the property owner to correct the issue is to paint it with yellow hash line and the wording LOADING ZONE ONLY. This allows the mailman, FedEx, ups ECT to park while making deliveries but no one else. That way you don't get folks who think they're special an excuse.
Have you not watched all the videos where people park on the hashed lines and loading zones? The people who park know they can't park in that space but they don't care and don't want to take responsibility. Then t hey want to play stupid and play the pity card to try to get a cheaper price, this isn't about them not knowing they can't park in that space but it's them knowing they got caucaught and lying to try to get out of it. Well, and it is true that those types park illegally sometimes and are gone before they get ticketed or towed, but that’s because they are there for less than five minutes, unlike this guy who was there for more than an hour. I don’t think many people get that exercised about people who are literally there a few minutes. But that wasn’t him.

Its more efficient for their drivers to double park or illegally park then drive around to find legal parking to deliver their packages. Most foo delivery companies do the same so they can double park in big cities and not care about the tickets.
And they were 'dropping off food for over 60 minutes. They knew they were wrong and were upset they got caught. Many people are like this. This one took it to a new high of (oh you towed us before and we told everyone you were good) excuses that they should get a discount. I'm more certain they were spending the next day to figure out who they could ask for money so they would not have to pay for it.

For anyone thinking the illegal park fee is too high: We have all seen what they have to go through to tow a vehicle - not easy at all. In Austin, Tx (much easier landscape to maneuver), illegal park fees range from $250-300, plus $20/day storage, plus a $50 notification fee if they have to notify the car owner. So, whatever Jeff is charging is a national average, and NOT outrageous at all. Plus, where he has to tow from in downtown Gatlinburg looks hard to navigate, tight spaces, & try not to hit pedestrians, sigh.
Never ever leave meds in a vehicle. If they are that important take them with you. Jeff. If you hear them say that tell them to pay for the car then. Absolutely ridiculous. No matter who’s meds. I’m furious about that

WA state tow operators I worked for charged a daily storage fee for every vehicle thru the gate from arrival time to pickup. No exceptions. Probably varies from yard to yard.
I interpreted that comment to mean they’d be down to one car and couldn’t both get to work, but even that is false. My wife and I early on only had one car we shared. It’s not ideal, but you can decide who keeps the car during the day and drops the other off and picks them up later. It takes more time, but it can certainly be done for a while until you get the other car back. Some people do it for years and years.

I hope you’re having a great vacation. I’m up here in Ontario Canada, I had a truck older one so I only put liability insurance on it figuring it was a waste of money for more. Boy was I wrong! My lifted f150 was hit front drivers tired and a bit of the front door and it was thrown across the intersection and into the ditch my truck cap was airborne and landed on the other side of the road. We were hit at 80km with the force of a dump truck yet it was a little Hyundai electric car! When I get another car it’s going to have better insurance on it!! WATCH OUT FOR ELECTRIC CARS!!! They hurt you when you are hit!

In my opinion the Volvo situation they both new they couldn't park there they still rolled the dice and lost. They tried every excuse to not pay it didn't work.

It's not a trap when no one is made to go there. AND, it wasn't a parking space. If someome parked in your drive way blocking your car in how long would you wait to have it towed?
You just know that angry Volvo guy left a 1 star rating. Also his complaining about only 3 no parking signs for 3 parking spots and he parks in front of a door with a small loading dock lets us know that common sense is not so common at all.
I would understand if they didn’t see it, ignorance of the law is not a excuse. Because if you hit something you might have not seen it but you are still responsible of the outcome.

Jeff, been coming to Gatlinburg a long time, it definitely has so many nice parking 🅿️ areas to park. And to me they are not expensive. They do a great job watching over your vehicle. They knew they were wrong period. Thanks everything auto.
I understand from personal experience what it's like to not have money after all the bills are paid. We've been there. And once in a while, we still are. And I know it's frustrating to work and work and scrimp and save and then (boom!!) something like this comes up. It hurts, I know. But, personal responsibility takes the hard lumps and learns from it. This guy made a bad error in judgment and paid for it. Hopefully, he will stop pointing fingers and listen to others and look at himself.

I hope you’re having a great vacation. I’m up here in Ontario Canada, I had a truck older one so I only put liability insurance on it figuring it was a waste of money for more. Boy was I wrong! My lifted f150 was hit front drivers tired and a bit of the front door and it was thrown across the intersection and into the ditch my truck cap was airborne and landed on the other side of the road. We were hit at 80km with the force of a dump truck yet it was a little Hyundai electric car! When I get another car it’s going to have better insurance on it!! WATCH OUT FOR ELECTRIC CARS!!! They hurt you when you are hit!
There should be a mandatory dumbass fee, maybe $100 up to 3 calls, an additional $25 each for #4 and up.
It is a sense of entitlement and a LACK of common sense that causes people to act that way. They whine about not having money, so why would you risk a tow bill? They are local, both working to Gatlinburg, so they KNOW better.

on the scrapping of the cars if they only giving $400 to $450 they would not be getting the catalytic converter with it! the older import ones bring $300+ on their own when i sold my 98 honda to a scrap guy he gave me $600 total $500 of it was just for the converter i drove the car to him just too much rust/rot but he was going to make an enduro car out of it i only bought the car for $500 and drove it for a yr and a half
These two desperadoes ready to yap everyone into submission... in relay! "If there's no sign on it, I can park there!" is not a viable parking ethic. No one really thinks that unsigned parking spaces are unowned parking spaces, free for all comers; they just say so (*at length*) when they're asked to pay up for the tow.
Addendum: That woman with that Volvo-it is not even a parking spot. Maybe she needs to really know that. They have their undies in a wad because it was towed as an illegal park. Your video shows plainly it is in a non-designated spot and NoParking on the wall. It is blocking the alley where it was parked. Plus you simply got the call to tow it. You did you job. Hopefully they will see this video and see for themselves how they are wrong.
