Based take
Lil B responding to my messages, having a conversation with me, and giving him his phone number meant so much. Still inspires me to keep going so I can make someone else feel that way
Lil B's influence is insane; you could name countless artists who were influenced by him and you'd have to add the musical influences too. This is why being real and following your heart is the key to success no matter how.
He's kinda the influential equivalent of the Velvet Underground (Lou Reed) of Hip Hop.
Looking at who he influenced, I wish Lil B had never happened.
The originator himself. TYBG
Thanks for leading me here, I’m going to view this video

fathering hella rappers is crazzyyyy

It’s obvious Lil B made what is now called meme rap. But don’t let this distract you from the fact that he could actually rap and actually made good albums, Lil b is definitely a generational person.
Babytron
YN jay’s “aaaggghhh” sound just like Lil B
6 Kiss is an amazing album from a lyrical standpoint to the beats
I heard about Lil B around 2009-10 when I was lurking in a chat forum on a hip hop website and someone posted his "Age Of Information" video. I thought it was dope and started seeking out more of his music. Even as a dude who was raised on 80s & 90s hip hop, I became an instant fan as there was just something that appealed about his style. Some of his stuff made me laugh (the Kevin Durant diss record for one) and he wasn't the most lyrical but I rocked with him cause he was interesting & definitely bought a different lane to the game.
I been known about him since I got into hip-hop in 2015, but never got into him because I thought he was "too goofy". I was a fan of Lil Pump so hey what the hell. Listened to my first Lil B song "I'm God" in 2018. WAS HOOKED. Greatest hip-hop artist ever.
KOOL KEITH.....Stop with lilp
The Kevin durant diss still makes me laugh my ass off when i play Spotify on shuffle lol
Great commentary and breakdown of Lil B. The only “issue” that I have with his process and influence on the culture is he does not “financially” capitalize from all of the hard work he has put into the game
Facts but that’s what makes him golden ‼️
that's the point, he's never in it for the money
@@WW-mj4nw Understood for that being the case for Lil B. But for others that follow his blueprint, monetary gain is the ultimate endgame for any career/profession.
@@iNeverHadMercy they're capitalist, he isn't. He did it out of pure love, thats what makes him special.
does he not really? I mean he's independent.
I spent 2011-2013 when I was in my early twenties listening to Lil B non stop (mixtapes, music videos on repeat daily) those were very good times.
I then moved on to listening to ASAP Rocky/mob, Chief Keef and then Yung Lean in 2014, which naturally introduced me to bladee & drain gang which I still listen to every day.
I can say with certainty that I would have never moved onto those other artists/sounds if I had not discovered Lil B in the first place.

Lil B is all modern rap's dad
i remember i had already heard of the pack, but back in them myspace days, lil b had like 60 myspaces with his songs on the music player. that’s when i knew this man was different
Yea having a hard drive with 1500 songs ready to drop at anytime and not to mention his "Free Music: The Complete Myspace Collection" mixtape (2011) having over 670 songs on it definitely classifies this man as different
Innovative beyond music. Strictly being himself paving ways for others to be them. Based
lil b just posted this vid all over his socials. really great stuff man, tybg
craziest part is that Lil B is genuinely one of the greatest lyricists of all time, hes just too real to put his skills on blast. he keeps his best songs underground for the real fans to find, and i think that just adds a whole nother layer of genuine to him. songs like I'm God, Tshirts and Buddens, and D.O.R. are all testaments to the Based God's sheer lyrical prowess. he unironically has several verses in his career that match the likes of Tupac, Nas, or MF DOOM. he can pack so many rhyme schemes and double-triple-quadruple entendres into his lyrics, you just get bombarded by hot bar after hot bar. people mostly be sleeping on Lil B but his greatest works are seriously up there among the best hiphop/rap songs of all time, especially considering how everyone took him as a complete troll before suddenly dropping D.O.R. and proving EVERYONE wrong. absolutely legendary. and thats on top of being THEE pioneer of fashion in modern rap. i hope he knows just how loved and respected he truly is
Dor is so fire

Super solid video. Thank you.
I literally just learned about him right now. I decided to look up “let him cook” origins. I am 38 now but As a black kid that was into punk, metal/hardcore and alternative music growing up I did notice the change around 2010. B/4 2009-2010 I had so much shit talked on me for listening to punk even BAD BRAINS (an all black punk band) and for the way I dressed. I noticed around that time that black kids started skateboarding and listening to music other than hiphop and ESPECIALLY with the way they dressed. It all makes sense now. I don’t like his music but I LOVE that clams casino song and after watching this vid I can agree that he influenced A LOT of people. Seems even if they didn’t like him they were still influenced. Good vid, I learn something new everyday 👍🏾
Lil B's influence transcends hip hop itself, by helping put Clams on a while generation of electronic musicians

Lil B, Chief Keef, and Waka Flocka Flame are the founding fathers of modern hip hop.
The first memes I EVER saw in my life were the “thank you basedgod” ones.

I’ve recently came back to listening lil b and rediscovered not even a small part of his music, I’m amazed by the man and his music And now I’ve been told that he influenced most of the guy I listen to well good job
been a lil b fan since like 2011, i have always asked people if they knew of his music and they say they heard a few songs, then i let them listen to "i am the hood" and its another story
I'm honestly surprised that you didn't mention Filthy Frank when referring to Joji. He would constantly showcase Lil B's music in his videos. He was clearly a fan, and you can hear the influence when he did those pink guy raps.

lil b is also genuinely a nice person. Met him before and he was super friendly. He also follows his fans back on twitter which is hella smart cuz he building that relationship and you feel honored that he would even follow you. Coming from the bay, we all know Lil b first from the pack, like vans was slap and on the radio all the time. In my car was our favorite song to slap when our first friend in our group got a car. Lil b is such an important local legend in the bay and his preaching of positivity was really impactful. He showed that you can be yourself and its okay to be different. TYBG

100% accurate. I came to learn of Lil' B around 2010, and as disorienting and strange as a lot of his aesthetic and sound was, it was clear it would work.
He understood memetics and it's intersection with Internet culture.
The "Joe Budden's" of the world just didn't get it.
the blog era of music was crazy
Too short from Oakland not SF, but great video
you forgot to mention lil b followed EVERYBODY on twitter back in the day. He made everyone feel special.
He would follow back all his real fans back then too
hes doing it to this day btw
Great video, had to sub after watching this
Lil B essentially did to rap, what Iggy Pop did to rock...forget everything you thought you knew about music, and forget anything you may think in the future...there are no rules, there is no reason, and there will never be an artist in the future who has to feel stuck within certain cultural boundaries.
