@@LOS-ry1ly That just shows you're ignorance about firearms! Shooting that gun in that condition could result in serious injury or worse. So stop being a moron and go back to playing you're computer games.
I bought mine new and am a thousand rounds in and it never has produced these mechanical issues. It's ugly, but shoots well. I also got the DA only model with the cut hammer, so it doesn't bite me either.
I would not call it ugly. It is a handsome gun that works perfectly for self defense and EDC. The power of the 38 special is obviously a bonus. This guy is an idiot and a complainer for no valid reason. Stock grips are fine, rubber grips are fine, pick-up-and-shoot factor is there, accurate, affordable and RI has been in business since forever.... What more is there to say?
I am still interested in owning this firearm. That being said, I greatly appreciate your review and will definitely scrutinize the firearm upon arrival! Thank you for taking the time to post this review.
It's good to see a review that has some real criticism in it. Too many gun "reviewers" have never found anything about any firearm problematic in the least.
***** yeah man sorry to hear about your bad experience but just dont give it a steady diet of +p you can shoot Mounting Solutions Plus out of it but i wouldnt do it too much
They're plastic.. Wish they were rubber lol but yea I was thinking the same thing. He didn't get this factory new though so he didn't get the extra grips. (and the wood grips were less preferable but my hand certainly wasn't being "eaten"..) just slander..
I bought one and it came with 2 grips. And i took the ugly wood grips off. And the replaced grips were 10 times better. Yes there cheap plastic. Byr you get a better grip.
I like mine. never had any of these problems with it. The thing you have to remember about hammer bite is that it is hard to make a design that doesn't have that problem for some people. Case in point, the Browning Hi Power. One of the finest designs ever and yet hammer bite has been a fairly common problem throughout it's history. My RIA revolver has a smooth action and the single action trigger pull is nice and crisp. I like that you said in the beginning that you wanted this gun to be good because it was cheap(paraphrased). I have a problem with the thought that for a gun to be reliable and a good shooter it has to start at $500 and go up from there. This the mindset that shames a lot of first time shooters out of the market for ever purchasing a firearm.
+Z.R.US the timing issue would the real issue to me. this gun should never been allowed to be shipped out. as for hammer I d say the gun was designed for Philippines size person. have you looked at the Rossi or tarus ?
Thanks for your candor. The hammer issue can be resolved by opting for the bobbed spur from the factory or do it yourself, fully or partially by cutting at the beavertail and grooving the stud. And or installing the optional rubber birdshead grips for the 4" version.
It comes with a extra set of grips they are plastic and they don’t even fit. I had to grind mine too make them fit, but what do you expect for $230 gun also, mine is the one with out the hammer
Mine has the same small timing issues on 2 of the chambers as well. Had this gun for years. Shot it fine when new been sittin for couple years and just noticed this
I have an M206. I dont have the problems you speak of. Of the people that have had these problems, they simply returned it to the company and received a completely different working firearm at no cost. It does have a lifetime warranty. As for the hammer coming back too far, I agree. I prefer the other grips which solved that problem quite nicely. As a matter of fact I purchased some Colt-type Detective Pachmayr grips that fit it perfectly that were better than the ones furnished with the gun. I have went through several boxes of shells with absolutely no problem at all. I love this gun.
Sootch hasn't had a problem with the one he has, his if the hammerless model. I bought one as an extra snake gun and have no problems running standard 38 ammo or snake shot.
love his videos, but sootch never has a problem lol That being said, check out my update video, Rock island took care of the issue. The new revolver is fairly accurate and has not had any issues.
google Lavon Affair or those certain women I refer to as pigs because they rub mud on their body before posing for social media pics to convince people they’re “cOunTRy GiRLs”!!
Owning one I honestly think you got a lemon my lock up is tight and timing perfect it is crud and you can look online to help with the hammers tail, I filed my down a lot
+Zakk Durden I was thinking the same.. however, i havnt seen enough reviews to know for sure.. the only few reviews ive seen actually showed missfires, but seemed to function fine after that..
I have one and only issue I have is if you slowly pull trigger the cylinder won’t lock up, but if you pull quick no problem, it swings into place. I hear that if you get a fatter arm that spins the cylinder (1-2 mil thicker) it might fix that problem but that’s just a theory I haven’t tried it...
While selling guns at the Gun Corral in Ga.,a fellow pulled up & parked his Mercedes Gullwing at the front door side ways & picked out a Clerk First ($26.95 in 1970) & asked is this a good gun?" I said no, but if that's all your wife is worth ('cause he said it was for his wife) He slammed the 32 piece of crap down on the glass & stormed out.The owner of the store wasn't happy with me nor me of him for selling such crap.S&W model 36s were $86 then. (1970).
There's "inexpensive" and then there's "cheap." I think the problem Rock Island and some other very inexpensive guns is they confuse cheap with inexpensive and it shows in their quality control. Some of their guns will be terrific, but others will be terrible and probably a greater proportion of them as well. I try to go for inexpensive guns, but sometimes it just makes more sense to go for the superior quality of a more costly piece. I have inexpensive Rugers that do everything I need them to do at a very reasonable price. Then again I have S&Ws, Kimbers, Brownings, and Winchesters that are somewhat expensive, but very high quality. That being said I have a S&W 340PD "J" frame that was very expensive, but had a lousy trigger pull. I changed the springs and improved the trigger pull somewhat, but now the cylinder is sticking when I try to release it. So it's going off to the gunsmith for repair. On the other hand I have a forty five year old S&W Model 19 that was my EDC for almost twenty years. I've fired thousands of rounds through it and to this day it still has a butter smooth trigger and a cylinder that locks up tight with no rattles and yet opens with a touch of the release.
I just picked one up today and boy has quality inspection has changed!!! There’s a tiny bit of rust outside of one of the cylinders but that’s about it everything else is good 👍🏻
I like to work in my garage with the door up/open. As our garage faces the rear of the house (opposite the road) I've had at least one a**hole attempt to come around the back to sneak in. Semi-autos don't really like grinding dust or saw dust sprinkled all over them so I bought a M206 and continue to open carry around the house. If it gets dusted one screw removes the hand grip and three screws remove the side plate. Blow out the dust add a drop or two of oil and reassemble. Easy peasy. I've had mine to the range and specifically range it in at around 40 feet, the depth of my garage. The grips are fairly small, which is a common denominator for "old school" revolvers. As a result at one time many manufacturers produced aftermarket over sized and target grips for them. I spent the $28 and got a set of rubberized Pachmayr Presentation grips for Colt D frame revolvers. You have to drill one 1/8" hole 1/8" deep on the right grip as the M206 has an extra pin. Then they fit perfectly. Once that was done it's made for a very good shooter. Some of the items in this video I do not consider fails. Fit an finish maybe but not fails. You get what you pay for and that is nothing to whine about. You do make very valid points as to what a buyer should be looking for when making a purchase. My M206 cost me about what my taxes were on my S&W 586! Sorry for the long comment but I like to be thorough and reading this comment should only take about half the time as watching the video :)
each of the problems you described could have been easily detected before purchasing allowing you to choose another gun and avoiding to send it back to the manufacture. good video to alert others what to look for before buying. thanks.
Did you send it back to the Meth Lab? Because those people have to be out of it all the way around in that Factory! Thanks for the Review of all the things to look at with any purchase!
its like ford chevy and all the rest sometimes you get a dud i purchased one of the rock island m206 revolvers and have had no problems at all i love mine
Yep, you got a bad one. I have one and I switched the grips to the black poly ones included with my gun. I have shot hundreds of rounds through it and have had no problems.
+Z.R.US I like crude looking guns, too. I normally look at milsurp stuff though. Some of the modern crude guns aren't built well (if you find any that are, I'd like to hear about them). I once bought an EAA Windicator for around $250, and that thing sucked. Shooting .357 the cylinder would lock up and I'd have to hammer it to unlock it.
+Z.R.US I forgot, Armscor is a Philippine company, it's made there. I see they do have a spurless hammer model, but that's $210 more. I wonder why so much more for a different hammer? Weird.
+Z.R.US The Windicator was just bad all the way around (I bought it before all the bad reviews came out). Surprisingly it was German made. Must have been some leftover East German factory and workers.....I've surmised that since Windicator actually makes no sense, it's supposed to be Vindicator, but since they had such terrible marketing and no one told them that in America V's and W's are not pronounced like in German, they messed up.
Can you personally compare this piece to the EAA Windicator ? I’ve been looking forward to getting a RI wheel gun but just learned about the EAA lineup. Then again, this video is four years old so it’s probably safe to assume RI has rounded the edges, no? They’d have to at least made it so the chance of it exploding in your hand aren’t so high I’d hope, or I’d have no problem springing for new Colt .
I bought my wife a Rock Island and it worked just fine. Probably put about 6 or 700 rounds through it but decided to uptrade it and get her something of higher quality. If it's for defense, don't put a bargain price on your life.
Thank you for this video! I wonder if you could update us all on the follow through(?) assuming you sent it back with a list of complaints??? I bought two of these M206’s and LOVE them. There’s no better piece for the cheap price that won’t leave you broke if it ever gets lost or stolen. Great for the desk/truck/kitchen/guitar case/ etc. let’s face it people, this is not for target shooting, it’s for self defense and CC. If ever I’m pulling this sucker out you best believe it’s because a defense situation warrants it. Thank you for the video I hope you could follow up on a review of it after this bad experience. Best, ~Luis
ZRUS Outdoors Channel thank you! I found it and it was great to watch. Thanks for the update. Have to share that in New York it’s a difficult gun to find!!! Special order only to an Armscore retailer, and their markup is absurd. I just purchased the M200 4” barrel which’s MSRP was about $230, the charged me $340. Had to make their cut. Shameful. But I’m over it. I feel the guns worth it but maybe that’s because it sucked to pay so much more for it. Best- ~Luis
Unless it's a Python....you get what .you pay for. Buy a pre-lock-d S&W revolver & be happy & proud to show your buddies. Not to mention having a gun that might save your life...
Some things are just worth paying for. While I love a bargain, I'd never try to look for one when buying a primary concealed-carry handgun. Want a 5-shot, small-frame, snubby revolver done the right way? Look at Smith & Wesson or Ruger.
Mine doesnt do any of that stuff yours does it actually shoots 1/4" groups at 50' locks up beautifully triggers nice came with wood grips and the plastic that fit the hand way better
You get what you pay for. I would spend extra 100 for a Smitty wessy. I think these revolvers are made in a sweat shop in Thailand..? Thanks for the heads up! The price makes it hard to pass one up though.
+JnJ Outdoors I gave this one a chance based on the experience that i have had with my Rossi in the same price range. The Rossi soars way over this RIA.
JnJ Outdoors from my experience with this one, yeah i would. Ive actually been carrying it for the past week.. I have a video on it too if you wanna check it out .. ruclips.net/video/G9cn9s91dIY/видео.html
I just got one like 2 weeks again shot a box of 4 of 50 fmj. Kind of off 15 feet and more away other than that. Shot every single round no misfires, no timing issues and pretty sport on dao or single regardless. Very heavy and sturdy, feels like your holding something premium until you notice the machine marks. Plastic grips kind of messes up disposing shells. Very good gun 4/5 for me. I am a new gun owner and own a Glock 42, bodyguard 380 with crimson tracer, Glock 23 40 cal, and this. Out of all of my guns this is the most comfortable to shoot and it’s very fun.
Do you know anything about this company? Or where these guns are produced? They actually give people a job in a country where it's not easy to make a good living. For what these guns are, they do a great job. They are affordable and quality self protection. That gun equals up close and personal. I plan on purchasing one just to support rock island armory.
well... gun is a gun, I'll be glad to see your next video showing somebody to shoot you with that M206 in distance of 20ft and says how that gun fails.. lol
Well if the timing is off there is a good chance the round could split the barrel and frame. Causing the gun to explode in hand. So someone showing know issues with a gun is a good thing. I'd much rather see the bad before hand then loose a hand because I bought a sloppy gun from the factory.
@divinekamikazee Sure, its a great revolver, when you get one that wasnt built like this example. As i have shown in part two, the new revolver was a much better example and has no issues. This video was simply to show people what to look out for.
I feel like this gun is a great gun for very cheap defense. The revolver it's self is around 250-300 depending what state then a box of 38.S is around 8-15 depending which place you buying it at. Just something for a truck gun or ccw or a home defense i think it's perfect. If it doesn't fire a shot when needing it to then it's not good.
I own one and have never had any problems. I have a Chiappa 1911 22 and a Taurus 905 that both need repair, so I know how disappointing it can be to have gun problems. I hope that RIA repairs your revolver to your satisfaction.
It is crude... I dont mind it.... I did have an issue early on with the latch that releases the cylinder for reloading..... The latch broke off before it even had 100 rounds through it and i had to send it to RIA..... I did notice that the cylinder does move when you slightly put your finger on the trigger also.... For the price... I just expected something that works... I would not bet my life on this though.... Get a proper gun if all you are getting is one....
Put at least a few hundred rounds through mine and have no issues with the hammer or timing problems. But it is what it is: a budget revolver. RIA is great about taking in defective products and fixing them
I bought one and love it, you got a lemon
He's just a pussy what's so hard to just pick a gun and shoot

Did you not get a second black grip with yours? Its bigger and feels better in the hand
This was an older version of this revolvers. The follow up video shows the contrast
Change the wood grips to the RUBBER Grips that came with it, and this will keep the firearm from "eating" your hand.

+MrBrandonannette and foxy I was never a fan of a bobbed hammer
+Z.R.US may be you can shorten the hammer up then
+MrBrandonannette and foxy yeah, i might have considered that, if it were the only problem.. the other issues out weigh the hammer issue.
+Z.R.US the timing issue would the real issue to me. this gun should never been allowed to be shipped out. as for hammer I d say the gun was designed for Philippines size person.
have you looked at the Rossi or tarus ?

Hey ZRUS,
Did you send this Taurus M206 back? If so, are you going to share the results with us??

Thats the Rock Island, but yeah, its in their warranty department right now, ill post back with the results! Thanx for watching!

If it's for defense, don't put a bargain price on your life.
i have ria m206 that is exactly like this with all the same issues. i am litterally scared to shoot the thing
The best part of a sub 500 dollar gun you can hack it up and customize it to your liking
Another Great simple review, where was it made or should I say an attempt to be made....
+olenick 7734 thankyou, but im not exactly sure where they make these..
I mean it is a .38 special it’s not really bought for Comfort. It’s meant for compact size.
Best, ~Luis
Hey, Luis. Check my follow up video, Rock island took care of the issues with a new revolver, no questions asked. New gun shoots great,
ZRUS Outdoors Channel thank you!
Best- ~Luis
@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel Is it still good? Just wondering because this comment is a year old. thanks. Peace
Mine doesnt do any of that stuff yours does it actually shoots 1/4" groups at 50' locks up beautifully triggers nice came with wood grips and the plastic that fit the hand way better
check my follow up video, Rick island took care of the issues and replaced the revolver, new one shoots great,
Mine came with a larger black grip and I really like the gun
Umm...I think I'll stick with a single stack mak for the price range! Hard to beat a milsurp for quality and price!
+The Hippie Gunner cant go wrong with the Mak !!
But look at Mak prices today. Oh, my!
So you would recommend the Rossi? Never shot one.
JnJ Outdoors from my experience with this one, yeah i would. Ive actually been carrying it for the past week.. I have a video on it too if you wanna check it out .. ruclips.net/video/G9cn9s91dIY/видео.html
UPDATE! I just found your follow up video on this! Thank you!!!!! I love mine and your update meets my opinion exactly. Best ~Luis
no problem, Luis, thanks for checking it out! Its not a bad little revolver, now!
Do they not test the firearms before they send them out?
Good video on what to watch for.
+Blue 823 it would appear that way haha
Is it accurate close?
Mine has been perfect, that's unfortunate that yours had problems. I would send it back.
I did, check out part two, They took good care of the issues with a new serial number.
@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel that's good to know
I've had a S&W 686 SSR and a Dan Wesson 715 all with same issues. Both new. Revolver makers are a thing of the past now.
That's pretty bad for sure. Hope they replace it or refund your money. The quality control people didn't show up for work that day.
I bought a spurless, double action only, and I absolutely love it!
Wow.. what a disappointment man.. that sucks. Hopefully it comes back solid.
+UrbanArmed we'll see, ill report back when it gets in !
I love mine. You got a lemon. RIA has a nice warranty.
I was going to buy one, but not now. Better to save a few more weeks and get an older S&W or a Colt Detective Special.
You got a bad one bro:/ i just got one and absolutely no timing or lockup issues.
Do you know anything about this company? Or where these guns are produced? They actually give people a job in a country where it's not easy to make a good living. For what these guns are, they do a great job. They are affordable and quality self protection. That gun equals up close and personal. I plan on purchasing one just to support rock island armory.
Can’t turn a blind eye to quality control. All companies employ hard workers. Be sure to check my follow up video. I’d buy again.
I saw a lot of people doing review on each different guns and brands talking shit! I suggest you guys start your company and make your own guns.
bitoy0213 what a dumb ass suggestion. maybe I should have just lied about the gun to make you feel better? GTFO
well... gun is a gun, I'll be glad to see your next video showing somebody to shoot you with that M206 in distance of 20ft and says how that gun fails..
This is America. Don't like free speech commie move the fuck to north Korea punk. Good informative video and keep doing you.
Thanks for your honest review, the hammer can be trimmed but over all, it's pretty crappy. Hope they get it fixed for you.
+ShootingandStuffwithTrees Thank you sir, we shall see..
My brother in laws has one of these. It has all those same issues.
Have one of these, fix fix fix. Weak spring on hand, pin on double action sear needs staked, grease spring on cylinder release it will work better.
I own one and have never had any problems. I have a Chiappa 1911 22 and a Taurus 905 that both need repair, so I know how disappointing it can be to have gun problems. I hope that RIA repairs your revolver to your satisfaction.
yes they did, I have a follow up video on this documentation. They sent a new serial number firearm and it performed very well.
@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel Thank you.
Yea the hammer is a little problem but the other issues are good good buy for self-defense
Dude that's scary on the lock up... What??? Damn, nice review
+Central Oregon Survival Network I actually had the hammer hit the brass and totally miss the primer lol
Damn... That sucks!!!! Picking up a HOWA 1500 heavy barrel this afternoon... Should be a shooter
Central Oregon Survival Network Nice! lookin forward to it!
They have a lifetime fully transferrable warranty. Send it back. I’ve heard good things.
Обменял на другой?
Put at least a few hundred rounds through mine and have no issues with the hammer or timing problems. But it is what it is: a budget revolver. RIA is great about taking in defective products and fixing them
yes, they replaced this one quickly with another in great working order. As seen in my follow up video.
@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel where ? Looked and didnt see followup vid

@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel thanks alot and glad to hear they promply made good on it for you . Been eyeing this and the Charter
It's a cool crude cheap gun. When I first saw one I knew the hammer design was faulty. Sorry for you timing issues.
