just received my A5X. So far pretty impressed and getting the hang of it and starting to go paperless and start integrating it into my daily workflow. thank you KIT as I watched so many of your videos when I was looking into the world of e-ink tablets which i just came across recently. your videos helped me a great deal in deciding which device to spend all that money on (still that is the only real downside that those are still so expensive). keep up those great reviews and comparisons!
I have both. I was an early adopter of RM2, and just received my SN a month ago. So, I've been using the RM2 for a couple of years, and I love it. I'm a writing and notetaking junkie, don't need it for anything else. I've used it for journaling, random thoughts, work phone call notes, some random studying, everything. Have never had a problem with it, it's done everything I've wanted it to do. There are other pens that will work with it if you don't like the one it comes with. I hate you have to change the pen nibs, and I hate every time there's an update it wipes your personal custom templates and you have to reload them (at least it has been in the past). And the fact that you even have to do some finagling to get templates on it to begin with is a pain. There's some great software out there that'll get your templates loaded, but having to rely on that stinks. It is, I believe, a linux-based operating system, so I'm sure people more versed in Linux than I would be able to do some pretty great things with it, though. Enter the SN. It also does everything I want it to do. I essentially use it in the exact same way I did the RM. Love the heart of metal pen. Love that you can put hypertext links within notes to link them together. The table of contents is a perfect idea. Gestures are fabulous, I wasn't sure about not just flipping the pen over to erase, but I've gotten accustomed to using the gestures now. The slide-your-finger-down-the-edge menu is brilliant, being able to switch between documents easily with the quick access option. I haven't sync'd email or calendars or anything on it, so can't comment on that. After a month I'm using the SN exclusively. Both of them are perfect for my use-case. For me, the SN just edges out the RM with the pen and writing feel, and the gestures. I'm looking forward to seeing what gets added to both of them in the future.
Another note, and this is kind of silly, all things considered, I love the calligraphy brush on the RM2, here's hoping it'll come in a future upgrade on the SN.
That's interesting, I'm trying to decide between the two, is there no way to link 1 note to another note in RM2? - not even in the latest beta firmware?
If learning curve to use SN is steep... Then one should stay out of digitized note taking. Simplicity is the highest sophistication in design... Inherent to SN A5X design and ever evolving software. RM2 is a device with high Cost / Benefit ratio...
I had both at one point (back in 2021) but eventually sent the SuperNote back. I miss it. I loved the feel of writing on it the most. I'm tempted to get another one in the future. As for my reMarkable, I'm never getting rid of it. 🤣
I have used my Supernote A5X for nearly a year now. Absolutely no issues whatsoever. I am a student and it has been sooo helpful. It is very durable too.
I received A5X yesterday and decide to return immediately. The writing experience almost same as an iPad with a paper-like screen protector. I'll keep rMarkable.
You can just get yourself a notebook…What’s the point of good writing feeling when you can't properly organize, access info through search, and even use custom templates? Plus subscription, no Bluetooth, and very few file formats. Comfort is the last criteria for picking an e-ink notebook because you are literally coming from REGULAR PAPER AND PEN…Paying $500-$600 for an inferior product is what I call being a victim of marketing.
This is also its downfall because it's missing bare minimum features. You can't even add a cover to anything unless you edit a pdf on your computer. Can't add a page to a pdf with a template. I've had mine for 2 days and I'm having to find work arounds for almost everything I want to do on this thing

Don’t need it to do anything else, currently got cabinets full of notebooks which are a pain to then type up. Not sure wether to get this or the reMarkable 2? I have both of these devices and the ReMarkable 2 is the one I use most. The Supernote has some cool features, like the Kindle app and Kanji paper, but it is SUPER slow.
It really is unfortunate that the SN glitched just as you were shooting the video. I've owned the A5X for about six months now, and I want to stress that it is not prone to glitching or needing to reboot as seen in the video. I also want to say I'm beyond impressed with Ratta's development team and the speed with which they've been pushing out new and useful updates. I am signed up for the beta-testing on the device, and the next update coming out (which I'm already accessing) includes syncing with google drive as well as screen mirroring for the SN. They both work great, and I expect the stable version will be released soon.
Absolutely agree. I've been using this all week, (and a half,) and it hasn't happened since, and also, I've used the device solidly for months when I first got it, and this is certainly not a regular occurrence! I wanted to leave it in, even in the edited one, just in the sense of transparency and honesty. I hope I did a good enough job of pointing that out in the live feed.

I just got the supernote yesterday and I am extremely surprised / disappointed with the writing experience. It seems like to get a consistency you have to use more pressure then I would like to for long sessions. Second the 'screen' is inconsistent in terms of feel, so I find the friction is slightly different in different areas and the hardness/softness when you push in is different towards the edges vs the center. I got the HOM 2 pen and it also doesn't feel great in the hand, the input lag even with the update is definitely not perfect for me, I do notice it. I was hoping to be able to write extremely fast with light strokes and get a consistent feel and output throughout the screen but unfortunately this is not the case for me. They say it's a matter of taste, I didn't particularly want tonnes of scratchiness slowing me down, I didn't mind it being somewhat 'slide' feel but it's not just that it's slide, the killer is that is not consistent slide so it feels like you haven't got optimal control. I may give it a day or two more but I will probably be sending it back. Curious if anyone else was disappointed on first trying it.
