this guy drummed for us in AZ his hands are THICK, drum everyday he said, dont stop. but guess what Mamady keita's hands are soft, ya gotta be a whip on that drum
For those who don't know........this young lady, trained with the Afrikan-American Drum and Dance Ensemble, Inc out of Cincinnati, Ohio. How do I know, I was one of her teachers.
I do agree that most people think African dance is "wild", but I don't know how much you know about the dance from Guinea. Sorsonet is very well danced by her, all the steps are originals and one special thing about this type of African dance is: there is not just a single form how this particular step has to look like. Every dancer dances it with his/her own personality. Anyway it is not very nice to comment about someones elses ability in such patronizing way.
Most of the Troup was from Ivory Coast... on this particular piece the male dancer is from Guniea the woman is from Cinncinati... the drummers are from Ivory Coast except for the lead drummer Fode Bangoura, from Guniea. Stay tuned for more to follow .
Really, were you born in Guinea? Whereabouts? I also don't think that the dancer put the video online so that someone can give her an "A for effort" and the hint that she "hasn't had much training". I spent quite some time in Guinea and trained with dancer from Les Ballet's Africaine and Ballet Djoliba, sure there are better dancers but she is dancing it all fine. Where did you learn?
That dude danced backwards to exit the stage. Both dancers did a great job. Very good sorsornet.
