- In its fight against Russian invasion Ukraine uses the latest military technologies and weapons. Ukrainians themselves have already proven to be outstanding warriors. But what does the work of the world's best military professionals look like from the inside? We show in the ‘Profession:Warrior’ project. Today, our main character is a Hero of Ukraine, one of the best helicopter pilots in the country with hundreds of combat sorties and missions to Azovstal and Zmiinyi (Snake) Island.

Think what these guys could do if they had newer generation helicopters. It blows my mind that anybody in the West thinks it’s a good idea to hold back our really good stuff. That kind of crap politician thinking is exactly why we got into Iraq and why we basically lost Vietnam.
The lack of interest in selling helicopters is puzzling. At the moment, in terms of western models, the Ukrainian military aviation has only one UH-60A and a few Cougar units.

You should use English titles 100%, most people have no idea what Zmiinyi Island(snakey snakey) is.
Thats not strictly true about infantry anti tank weapons not supposed to be handling helicopters. I know NLAWs for example can target them, usually while the helicopter hovers, and they also use direct fire mode and this is covered in training. Then even old RPGs will make a mess of any lightly armoured vehicle infront of it, whether its grounded or not. Theres been lots of cases of lucky RPG shots bringing down helicopters.

KA-52s and russian helicopters in general are barely in use now because they are only just in range to use them. They can't base them in Ukraine or even in Taganrog in Rostov and they are pushed back at least 150km from the front and that makes every use of them expensive and most will have to do a 2 stop trip to do fire missions. Russia doesn't realise it yet but they will have a very sudden realisation that Crimea is well within the area where they can't base aircraft and the only reason that they do base aircraft there is because of some delusional belief in a air defence that can't shoot down jack shit. When the time comes Ukraine will hit aircraft in Crimea and other airbases and this will likely be when western jets arrive.

I wish our Airmen could get paid and equipped to go fly in Ukraine with our aircraft 🙏 Every Ukrainian death that occurs before the F16s are in their service, they break my heart! But I am happy the F16 program is moving so fast. GLSDB had proven to be a cruel joke. Flying Tigers existed in the 1930s-1940s, and I know for a fact that we have some Flying TIGERS today!
The minedrone thing, which I mentioned sarcastically months ago (it was about the minefields), could actually function as a remote-controlled, old helicopter full of explosives, for example an old CH-53. A suicide drone, so to speak. Something like a Sikorsky CH-54A Skycrane could even drop a container filled with explosives. 4 tons of TNT produce a pressure difference of approximately 300 mbar within a radius of approximately 50 m. You can also use nitrate thinner and sugar cheaper

yes, you can put radar, antiaircraft and anti ship missiles on it. It becomes a fortress against ships and planes. The island is also in a strategic location.

Attack helicopters roles are going to be much less aggressive in this and future wars, infantry and armour support back from a long distance. An updated harrier type aircraft would be far better for these sort of attack roles and I expect NATO countries to design a short take of and landing attack aircraft/drone very soon, or develop the F35 into it. They have at least a chance of dodging enemy AA and can take off and land close to front lines in hidden spots, just like helicopters. Harriers were basically designed to attack russian/soviet armoured vehicles/helicopters/attack jet aircraft on european planes/steppes while taking off and landing from sneaky hidden spots nearby.
