How was it?
I used to be a metalhead. In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Opeth, Hypocrisy, Immortal, Windir, Insomnium, Summoning, etc...but always loved other styles too. In Flames started to change and I kept seeing all these fucking moron comments about how they sold out and blablabla. So you have these people that claim that they are truly opened to music and really have passion when it comes to music...but tbh, metalheads in general are very close minded when it comes to music and act like a bunch of fucking teenagers. It needs to fit in their vision of music (usually very strict) and if it doesn't...usually they say it sucks. You may not like the 'new In Flames' but give me a fucking break when you say stuff like 'Oh nuuu metal or they sold out'...it's fucking annoying
overgeneralizing a whole subculture is pretty closeminded, too.
and as someone who listens to everything from Rihanna to Infant Annihilator but hates the new In flames I really hate it when people call me closeminded for disliking something.
I'm not saying people like you do not exist...I'm one of them also. I still listen to my favorite metal bands. The point about In Flames is one of many. Of course you can dislike the new In Flames and not be close minded but let's say that when you read the general comments...you see something you often see in metal when a band changes it's style a bit for something less harsh. From all my experience in the metal realm (I breathed metal, had a band, etc)...I was left with the disapointing conclusion on many 'music fans' in the genre
I actually like this song. Haven't really listened to any In Flames since maybe Come Clarity. But since I believe Come Clarity was the best album they ever produced, this new song doesn't bother me all that much.

Funny thing... we had a few guys standing behind us at this very show, they started the gig by shouting "-play faster" "-play some old stuff" and behaving like the average online whiner... 20-30'ish minutes into the show I turned around and these guys where looking quite happy 'nodding' their heads even to the new stuff.
Shit, IF came, and yes they delivered... home town crowd! It was fking awesome!
I'm no superfan of the last album but those newer songs got a live injection that made them a hell of a lot more memorable.
Get a couple of ears attached to your head, and then get an appointment at a hearing clinic so that they can function properly.

Man... every time i see these guys live or listen to their live stuff it sounds so much heavier than their albums. Something is getting lost in the studio and it sucks.
their studio mixing gives preference to the synths and anders's voice and just making everything sounds nice.
the raw guitar tone of the live performance sounds much more aggressive. this is a very Slipknot-ish tone here

It's completely impossible to hear any fucking change from his voice 10 years ago this is an amazing performance he really gives it all and it sounds amazing, you don't have to like the song but to say that his screams is bad in this video is just ridiculos.

We are livening in a free world so you can like what ever you want! Come Clarity album nowhere compare to Jester Race or Whoracle or Colony for me !!! In flames was good in late 90's early 2000 and I think many of us thinking the same ! After that they changed and want to be more popular and they're music got softer to reach many people as they can !!! That's my opinion !!!!! But we are different with different taste of music!

What happened to good old In Flames with Masterpieces like Colony...Anders can´t scream anymore, and what he does definitely isn´t singing.Became so bad live and this video is massively edited.
What happened is they don't want to just play the same material. They don't make music for the fans. They make it for themselves. The moment they don't want to play anymore is when they will quit. Anders himself said that... Not sure what concerts you've seen but they still sound amazing live.

Nope. Shows you how shallow some people are. Bands always have that damned if you do/don't situation. Change our sound and get condemned by hardcore old fans, or keep the sound and get condemned for all our music sounding the same all the time. Change is good in music. It shows you aren't a one trick pony, it shows you're creative and have artistic vision, and it shows you can appreciate other styles of genres. Staying the same is stupid and any band that does it are the real "sellouts"
people like you just don't get it. you can innovate your sound without abandoning your roots. look at Hypocrisy or even "old" In Flames. every album sounds different and fresh yet typically Hypocrisy/In Flames

This was the last show of the European tour, not the first, so about six or seven weeks in. Not overly important, but a fact never the less.
As for why does it sound better than other youtube posts? Well, most youtube posts are not recorded using the full split and a several thousand pounds worth of microphones. Most in fact are a phone microphone, which is distorting the signal before you even start. .
Once those tracks are mixed for release, bearing in mind that the mix for the room will not be the same as the mix for you hifi, you end up with a recording of this quality.
The recording captures the show well. Anything else is opinion, something to which everybody is entitled, and you can make of it what you will

BirdsElopeWithTheSun I actually prefer Come Clarity. Even though they had strayed from their Melodic Death Metal roots, and into Alternative Metal, it's still a great album. I actually call it Easy Listening Metal.
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be like a sister to Soilwork's live Blu-Ray/DVD/Album they shot in Helsinki. In Flames and Soilwork are really good friends with one another so I'm sure that In Flames wasn't trying to rip off Soilwork in any way. I'm hoping Arch Enemy releases their Wacken performance with a similar title to make it kind of like a collection.

My opinion in flames was a really good band till 2000 and after they're turned to pop rock shit which is very sad :( Good albums from in flames is:Lunar Strain/The Jester Race/Whoracle/Colony/Clayman!!!!I was lucky to see live in flames back in 90's compare to this one !!!! I don't think I will buy any ticket to see them now 🙁

Completely agree with you! Come Clarity is their best album! "Crawl Through Knives" is imo one of the very best song from the album and easily one of the best they ever wrote! But, "Take this Life" is my personal favorite! :)

Vocals are waaay too much in the background. And the drums... the bass has just attack and no punch and the snare is just a quiet little fart that you barely can hear.
