I ve been watching a lot of your DT covers, and I love them!!! The amount of skill you display is astonishing!!!
The fact that you don't have more views on your videos is beyond me. Perfectly executed, well made videos. Every time I watch one of your videos I learn something new from how Portnoy played it. I look at your video and go, "Oh, so that's how its done". I use your videos to learn the songs as well. You make it look as if it was very simple to accomplish what you did.
On another note. Have you heard of CHON or "The Third Ending"? Man, it would be awesome if you could do one their songs.
If you haven't, you should look them up, some song recommendations.

At first I record the intro just on the toms and realized that it sounds weird. 😃 So I come up with this 'cheating' solution. 😅

Great cover, just curious why you mostly cover MP Dream Theater songs, because you like more the DT of that period or the way MP plays over MM?
I like both but I more feel the older songs from a composer point of view. Also the drums parts feel more naturally to me.

Thanks man! Thats difficult to say because I learned this song over 10 years ago. :D Today it depends totally of how complex the song is. For example Messiah Complex by Haken took me about 10-20h only on the drum set. I learn so much by hearing the song over and over before I sit on the drum kit.

No I dont use samples at all. Just the natural drum sound.
Is your stax between the splashes a mid max stax? or else, what sizes are the cymbals?

You did great but I'm really not a fan of the quarter notes on the guitar solo, the ride should be half notes lol. It does so much for the feel, that's how Mangini botches it during the shows.
You more deserve to replace Portnoy than Mangini ...
