Red Lion and Dallastown are two nice little towns. Low crime areas and not too crowded. There's plenty of rural properties outside of the towns. You can live in the country and still be close to stores and all you need. 👍😊
I live in suburban Lancaster County east of Lancaster, my Daughter and her family live in Whitehall, MD, northern Baltimore County. We only live 52 miles apart. I thought that Shrewsbury was your best pick because even though it's population is less than Dallastown or Red Lion, Shrewsbury because of it's close proximity to the Maryland Line has more convenient shopping, the Walmart in Shrewsbury is very nice for a Walmart and the Pennsylvania Wine and Good Spirit Shop at the same shopping center as Walmart is a very nice large well stocked liquor store. My Daughter lives slightly closer to Shrewsbury than Hunt Valley Center in MD so she shops between Wegmans in Hunt Valley and Walmart in Shrewsbury. Shrewsbury is a great Mason Dixon Line Pennsylvania side town and is conveniently located right off I 83.
This is a great video if you want to see none of the neighborhood, but instead would prefer to stare at a middle aged man walking around, not blinking too frequently.
Moving to the area of Red Lion possibly to be closer to family. As a non-driver is there a public transportation system that is reliable to get around?

Yes in and around York there is, connecting to other towns is trickier
