Mate had this. He bought a property for 71k, she put in 1k. He did it up, paid the mortgage then 6 months later she wanted it sold. He ‘lost’ 10k+, she made 59k+.
    How is this fair?
He was gutted. His dream house lost, money, time and girl all gone.
There should be something to make this fair and equitable.
    Could happen in either direction.

Unfortunately people need to use solicitors when doing these things. Then they can stipulate that the property value will be recovered in proportion to the amounts invested in rent and deposit.

@@skellious even if the total profit was split 50/50, that’s more fair than the other way. You take the 71k off the table as ‘costs’ and split the profit from 49k. She still ‘made’ a 24x return in 6 months. He didn’t lose his seed money.
He just trusted her. Trust her and back it up with a legal document. Then there’s no issue down the line.

If they were married then the law would preside. You can't play housey housey without a financial agreement

I suggest, If she were the large investor, and he the one doing this, he would be seen as a criminal and likely dealt with as such by the court.

What if your married to someone on spouse visa and female enter uk and leaves partner after 9 days. But demands financial settlement but never contributed to wards anything nor is her name on the mortgage and no children involved. She used the male to enter uk. Would she still be entitled to any financial compensation ect???
