I’m not seeing/hearing that you need to skip stitches between corners on the second layer…can you confirm how many are skipped?

If I’m not changing color at the end of round 1 should I just start where I’m at?
Yes! Just keep working from that point with a ch 3 + 2 more dc in that ch sp 😁
Is the size E hook correct? I am finding it very difficult with such a small hook
Yes, size E hook is correct with a 4 weight cotton yarn. You can always go up a hook size, but the final measurements of the sunglasses case may be bigger.
Is this the same pattern that you use for the earbud case
It isn't, but it could easily be adapted to make one!

4 wt is the same as #4, medium, or worsted weight yarn 😁
