@DESTINATION_YT make sure you unlocked the holy mantle for him, it makes him slightly more bearable and less rage inducing. But do play as him, because if you suffer long enough and get all Completion marks, you unlock godhead which is one of the best items in the game
Feels like a new player mindset to me, even if you have played the game for quite some time. All the characters you seem to play are safe or are just OP

Samson is simple but strong. I get why he could be seen as boring, but using his health offensively like going hard blood donation/demon beggers is why the fun lies for me.
The best normal characters (in my opinion) are: Azazel (mini brimstone + nice dps), The Forgotten (nice dps + fly), Keeper (bro can get tons of money and heal himself instantly), Isaac (D6).
Blue Baby is severely underrated imo. Devil deals inherently gain more value due to deals costing normally one red heart now only costing one soul heart. Ppl who say The Poop is useless are most likely using it wrong. Place it down after every room clear, but don't break it until you've cleared everything else aside from the boss room. Then, break them all at once, and you'll have a big headstart on the floor boss. If you pick up Hive Mind in a shop, it can literally carry you for the first couple early floors. *Don't even get me started on how broken TBB is.*
Also, if you manage to get "Midas Touch" there is an chance the poop you spawn becomes an golden poop. Basically, free money for only cleaning an single room.
Apollyon is fun to play, I like the fact you don't have to miss out on items if they're bad, for example, The Wiz, you can turn it from a mediocre item (because not all runs have homing) into 2 random stat ups
The forgotten in my opinion is like one of the few normal characters that actually have a very impactful and fun unique thing about themselfs that is not just funny short range brimstone and flight :)

Holy mantle, start with flight and spectral, free devil deals AND the ed6 is easely counteracts its dowsides without being as difficult as tainted lost
i honestly enjoy them more than lazarus or blue baby or maggy, and you can even take both items in a multi-choice item room like in alt path, with careful positioning
if no one defends her then i shall. with a good sacrifice room, you can leave the first floor with full health, half a key and a good item. the speed loss is unpleasant if you don't find speed up items/pills, but it's not, like, unbearable

I really like that you basically have a free PhD with Cain aside from actually knowing the names beforehand, really helps you get great stats if you get a decent number of pills during the run
I can say for certain Bethany is not a “god character” a fun character yes. The thing is they can only use red hearts their only redeeming quality is that the fact that they get an angel room first instead of a devil room. From my experience her starting active item is moderately easy to find when playing as any other character.
I’m finally back. This series was the reason I bought The Binding of Isaac way before Rebirth even came out. I feel like I’m going insane watching his gameplay, just the way I remember it. Hahhh.
