Hey Luke as usual another very cool awesome video ... You guy's are so very blessed to have found your passion and send punch out great vids... The knowledge of the products you guys' review can not be denied or matched... as for the question at the end(and I did not just skip to the end) haha!!! ... for me would be..all that tech and switch modes are great but... but... I would need a video(with much detail) or take my local expert (DJ Callahan CSS Can-Am dealer) along for an afternoon ride to explain it all to me that being said I wouldn't change a thing....Cheers from Newfoundland....

The smart lock modes are cool as can be. Lots of options when things get ugly. But one thing missing for the money. Where in the world is the roof. Might be time to update my 2013 commander XT. Thanks again for a great video. Keep them coming.

Smartlok definitely offers experienced riders a lot of flexibility, but I’d say there’s more times where simplicity is a beautiful thing . 2x4, 4x4, 4x4 locked front diff . Keep your mind on the fun and the trail and not overthinking which mode may work better .

Have 300 miles on my 2021 Commander XTP. Best 4 wheel drive system I have ever driven. High speed dirt/gravel road are a joy. Put 1" spacers under seat brackets and put additional front 1" spacers under drivers seat to get a more reclined position. Rides harsher and not quite as quick as my RZR. Very quiet and can actually carry on a conversation in the cab. Fit and finish is impressive. Every suspension and driveline component appears to be much more robust compared to my RZR. Added adventure rack and tablet holder. Waiting for Bent Metal vented glass windshield. It's a mountain goat on steep rocky hills, the drive system continues to amaze me. The XMR wasn't out when I ordered the XTP. I agree that the XMR is probably a better value for us trail/mud guys with the snorkels and high mounted winch.

This model is the one I’ve been waiting for for so many years now. I made a joke to my local dealer that if they took the Maverick Sport and slapped a dump bed on it and in a XMR version that I am completely on board. Just waiting on stock to roll in now. Answer: The smart lock system Can-Am has developed is just incredible in how well it works with so many possible options to suit ones driving style to the path they choose. I’ve tried it. I love it, and compared to everything else on the market and for value it is a no brainer. Great video as always! Cheers!

The New Smartlock with selected rear locker is exciting! Being able to select if and when I want the rear locker engaged would allow me to turn tighter in sections, slide the rear when needed and protect my lawn! Definitely an excellent addition! Love the New Commander XMR

Hey Luke, great walk around. I am patiently waiting for my 2022 Can am XTP but am anxiously waiting to try the new smart lock system. I am sure it will be amazing, as BRP always does a great job. You have explains the various options of the smart lock system well and I understand it better now. The XMR makes me second guess my XTP but I am more of a trail rider but love getting dirty so I will be sticking to my XTP. Can’t believe I have to wait till late spring but fingers crossed, it will be sooner. I had originally ordered a 2021 but my luck showed its evil head and was one of the ones that burnt in the plant fire. Thanks again, will look forward to see more. Cheers

I think the multiple options with diff locks and drive modes are great, but what concerns me is how reliable are they. The more functions available I feel like are more places for it to fail. I’m not too technically savvy and 9x out of 10, I will always have a mode pre set up for me for different conditions without having to over think it. Simple. Ready to go outta the box. Convince. Worth the extra coin:-) here in MN, lots of different seasons and terrain. good review Luke.

Nice review Luke - multiple selector switches is a good thing, turf mode to full locked 4x4 when needed is a on demand set up. Noticed the rear sway bar, there is enough space between the bar and the frame (between the brackets) that someone unfamiliar with attachment points might hook the winch to the bar if the tow points are buried in the mud. Might be set up that way but if not it could ruin your day. Other than that, let the mud fly. Cheers 🍺

I think can am has really upped their game on their new diff systems and really gives you flexibility if you are into different kinds of riding. I completely agree with your statements about why the XMR especially in this model is the best value option. Really liking the looks of these new tires!!! I really like this new Commander and with this trim I'm seriously considering it.
That being said, I'm an old school Jeep guy. So for me one of the areas I've thought has been lacking in SXSs is the manual diff lockers front AND rear, which this unit now offers. This is a huge bonus for those of us that can legally drive these of the roads and you plan to overland camp. I'm not sold on the SmartLok completely though just because I've seen them fail in the X3s and it's back to the infamous CanAm 3 wheel drive. Honestly I was looking at the XT with the mindset of taking the Visco out day one for a Torq Locker which in my opinion EVERY Canam owner should do ASAP!

I’ve seen quite a few out and about and really like the full van controlled climate features they offer as well. The smart lock is something that Polaris really needs to catch up to CanAm on. My Highlifter could use the locking diffs. The fact that you can lock both front and rear is all the difference in the world when things get really sticky in the mud hole. Thanks for the walk around and keep the content coming.

It took Can-Am way too long to bring a proper front locker to their machines, but when they finally did, they really seemed to take it to the next level with this one.
This trail/mud setup is what I would go for. I like having snorkels for peace of mind and all ATV'S/SXS's imo should be min stealth snorkeled to the rack height.

Another great walk around video. Personally I like the options offered with the smartlok. It gives the rider different options, in different situations, for both play and work. Can Am covered all the bases with this, and they knocked it out of the park on the new 2022 Commander XMR and has me questioning myself if I want to upgrade to another Outlander XMR or switch over to a Side by Side and pick this rig up, tough choice! Great product overview video.
Wasn’t sure on the power out put but this seems like it’ll get you places where you want to be. Tires definitely look aggressive enough to kick up mud.
Differential options are good especially when the tires scream for muddy trails. Are there speed limitations in the various mode ?
First thing I would do is strip the decals off and commence stealth mode.
They make a good product and the bed side storage definitely is helpful when you don’t have time to pack up a tool box when going on the trails.

The smartlok is definitely a world of improvement!! I have the 2021 Xtp and love the rear differential lock. I would like to throw my opinion in on the best commander for the money. The Xtp has every the Xmr has except the tires and snorkels plus has the fox shocks. Another point for smartlok is the module can be changed out to different modules for your riding preference. Love the videos! Keep bringing them!

Previous Polaris rzr owner and the main reason I want to get rid of it was the ride on rocky trails and that lag you get when you originally hit the gas. I couldn’t stand that now that being said I was torn between the x3 the talon and the commander and I was highly on the talon bc I didn’t think it would have lag since not having a belt and also more importantly the 4x4 seemed like it would be less Stressed then a belt driven transmission. But I hoped on RUclips and I guess since all I been doing was watching videos on different sxs im so glad this video popped up. You nailed it. Whether I win this or not I’m either winning it or buying it for sure. The only thing I have to do is look to see if this is a 60in or 64 lol. I’m so happy with the detailed video i can’t wait to try that smart lock system out here in northeast pa!

Hey Luke awesome video! Thanks so much for the walkaround I was hesitating on getting the CT or the XMR. You sold me on the XMR and can’t wait to get it (next month). Keep up the good work!! Rick

Hey Luke great video. Smartlock looks cool, I still feel (being a polaris owner) keeping it simple works best. Seems potentially like a bit more to go wrong. Your adding alot of extra hardware and software just to function like an AWD

I love that high mount winch, all manufacturers should mount them like that.

Yup, this is the best looking Commander in the lineup IMO.

Love the Smart lock. Wished my Maverick sport had it. If couldn't have a Smart lock then just having the ability to fully lock the front with a switch would be the next best option.

Another great walk around video Luke ! Like iv mentioned in previous video comments I recently jumped shipped from being a loyal Yamaha guy ( although I still have my 19 Grizzly Se ) and bought my first Can Am , that being a 21 Maverick Sport X XC. It has basically the same mode switches for the 4x4 and diff lock. Honestly i cant tell much of a difference in my xxc between trail and trail active which would be relatively the same as mud and trail on this Commander . Im not knocking Can Am technology and it does work well but i think a simpler set up like Yamahas simple 4x4 or diff lock switch in the long term would be better. With the Cam Am set up it sounds like a lot of sensors/ electrical issues could arise in the future with there set up possibly .

This is a very interesting utv. I think it has all the diff modes it needs but if i would add one would be stuck or unstuck mode. Good walk around btw.

The diff lock modes look like a nice evolution, to me. Something to consider or try before I buy my machine, maybe?

Great video! Just came across your channel and now a subscriber. Not to familiar with Smartlok but definitely can’t wait to see more on the things it does on in the muds and trail. Blessings and keep the videos coming

I believe that smart lock covers anything you plan to do with this side by side, I love the stance and the camo!

I love the flexibility of the smart lock. Best I can tell from the video is the only thing I would add is a way to lock all 4 wheels with a single switch or button.
