Like for example in one Arkham Knight comic, Boomerang died. Then in that Assault on Arkham movie, King Shark had a different design AND he died. Speaking of that movie, Task Force X was already a thing way before the events of Arkham Asylum and it even had the members of this new Squad (Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark and Boomerang). It also implied that Deadshot killed Waller at the end of the movie. But I guess that movie is not canon since this game exist
Video games are hard to not have plot holes. I'm not defending this pile of shit....I don't spend money on games demonizing and weakening heros I grew up on...I'm just saying. For example...batman earns the prototype grapnel boost in arkham city in 2011... yet he has it in arkham origins 7 years prior? It because your exploring all of gotham on origins and not having the boost would be too time consuming if you don't want to fast travel. So some games have to break the mold

Well, how about looking re-watching the very next scene the flash is in? Where he alters the bullets trajectory by touching it. In this exact scene, one finger should be missing on his hand. In Arkham Knight it's explained the Arkham Knight rigged the city to explode if outside help arrives, which is why the National Guard, and Superman who is named directly, doesn't get involved. Batman and Alfred both agree it's likely a bluff, but don't want to risk being wrong.

One Thing that this game does that I’ve always hated about the fear toxin is that because it’s comics, they have to make it a thing where they fight it both mentally and physically and I never understood what that shit looks like in an outsiders point of view? Like are they all shooting randomly until they hit Batman? Or is it all just like that South Park bit where Eric Cartman has a battle of the mines in his living room against a bunch of telepath and they’re all just making random bullshit up while shouting sound effects? I think they should’ve mixed the fear toxin with the yellow lantern rings. They already raped the laws of the lanterns in this universe so why not make Batman a yellow lantern using the fear toxin, his intimidation tactics, and making manbat constructs or something to attack them. Maybe other Batmen or other characters in the bat family or attack the Batmobile, have him fly around in the cave in the batwing. They could have him do literally anything, it could’ve been tons of fun
The designers could have designed it so that Batman's gadgets are represented by hallucinations (a massive clawed hand reaching out at you turns out to be his Bat-Claw, a weird flame erupting from the ground is his explosive gel, lightning strikes are actually from his remote electrical cannon). If a squad member is shooting at nothing, we should get instances of different villains weirded out by the squaddie's behavior. If the moment looks goofy, then GREAT, use that as humor. The game is supposed to be funny, so be funny! Everything you mention that is strange is exactly what could be useful to deliver dramatic or humorous impact. But this game wasn't able to capitalize on the opportunity, mainly because it's a looter shooter that can't allow for diversity in gameplay or player experiences (and because the writer seems to have an allergy to good comedy). EVERYONE has to do "shoot gun at bad guy".
Even in the boss fights the JL members really don’t try to attack you. Superman just flies around throwing out attacks, same as Flash and GL. Flash and GL could’ve killed them at any time but just didn’t.

What I didn't get is, unlike other SQ Stories, the Team usually has a designated Handler that's on the ground with them to keep the goal focused. Sometimes there's a member of the Squad that is more loyal to Waller than others (Assault on Arkham's Deadshot) and a secret agent within the Squad (Assault on Arkham's Killer Frost). In the JLU, Rick Flag was actually on the ground in the Field w/ the Squad, so he was there to ensure everyone stuck to the plan. Rick Flag is the Team Leader w/ Peacemaker being the secret agent in the recent SQ movie as well. If Rocksteady/Sweetbaby wanted to ride on the coattails of the previous success of SQ, they should have had a 5th member assisting the Team. Someone who wasn't a moron, and actually stuck to the plan instead of bickering like a bunch of idiots. There is no defining member of the team, no one who holds themselves together and no one who acts like the leader.

The thing is, the Suicide Squad was never meant to be this "in case the Justice League goes rogue" type group. We can somewhat blame the DCEU for that one (as well as this sudden need for a black Deadshot) Task Force X is normally portrayed as a covert group that is sent on missions that the government can't do themselves for one reason or another. It also makes way more sense that way. If they complete the mission, they get their sentence reduced. These missions are also more times than not suicidal (hence Suicide Squad) and on the chance that they're caught they can easily be throw under the bus given their criminal backgrounds.

Imagine in the Death of Superman, instead of Superman and Doomsday beating each other to death, Doomsday just bends Superman over and raped him to death. The final shot of the comic isn't Lois holding Clark's corpse, but him lying on the ground alone with his butt up in the air.
I enjoy the spirit of the video. You cover a lot of things other reviewers havent, things I hadn't considered that make the game somehow even worse. But there's a few things I feel don't really see as holding a lot of weight. Namely, the reddit theory of the JL being clones? That's not even backed up by anything in game, that's literally just military grade copium from people who have run out of evidence for their points, dignifying it isn't worth a mention, since it's clearly not the intent of the game in its current state.
Amanda Waller was amazing in JLU and Batman beyond. She’s at her best when she learns to see things from a third person perspective instead of being up her on ass.

One thing that I don’t think anyone has mentioned in any video. This is a small very small nitpick. In the Batman Museum, if you interact with Mad Hatter’s display, Jack will say Jarvis Tetch. JARVIS Tetch. Hatter’s name is Jervis. Like, how do you get something as simple as a name wrong? And no one bothered to recheck everything?
It would make more sense for Gotham Knights to take place in the Arkhamverse than this now that I think about it. Batman dies and his former sidekicks have to carry on his legacy protecting Gotham. That was basically Gotham Knights in a nutshell and the ending of Arkham Knight had that exact same endind instead of this where you had to set up the JLA and kill them all in the same game keeping in mind that in order to even kill Superman(A good Superman whos holding back to boot) by himself it took Doomsday to do it. Last time i checked none of these villains even come close to that level of power so in order to kill the Justice League with these guys id take some major plot armor or just some characters making stupid choices

It's "Suicide squad: KILL the Justice League" Not "Suicide squad: KILLS the Justice League" Also, the people who wrote this game do not care about the lore or the heroes! The gameplay is below average, the missions are generic, and they focus on guns way too much! Also, the live service aspect makes everything WORSE! The focus on live service bull crap messes up the story, makes the gameplay the way it is because that's how OTHER popular live service games did it, and then you have the promises that Rock steady has made about what is coming next! "One character per season!" "More of the same gameplay!" Yeah,don't be surprised when I don't get excited about that! Also, like MANY live service games that FAILED those promises may NEVER come true! At this point, they should just make a fully off line version of the game with all the promised live service stuff in it and move on to a Justice league game where we ACTUALLY PLAY AS THE JUSTICE LEAGUE!😡
I personally liked Gotham Knights. True compared to the Arkham games it is nowhere close, but it's a 7/10 game imo and sometimes I just wanna play 7/10 games. It's just nice you know. Story I would say it's 8/10 as pretty good and enjoyed the story aspect the best past being the ending where Batman very slightly regains his mind and destroys himself and the Lazarus pit so he can't be brought back using it again. I also love how we see the Bat family interrupting him recording the video we saw at the start showing the good old days and how much they all cared for each other. And although it's easy to say Arkham is without a doubt the best style of gameplay for the Bat Family in general I think doing something different is something that should be tried. SSKTJL on the other hand has a shit story. Where Gotham Knights gave Batman a heroic sacrifice as a death with people respecting and mourning him SSKTJL just instead shat on his chest and shared it on twitter in comparison. Where Gotham Knights had good written characters we play as that stays true to the lore SSKTJL can't even keep their characters consistent with the source material they specifically made and said it was following. Where Gotham Knights had a complete story that had a beginning that leads through believable events resulting in an ending the beginning and story lead up to SSKTJL does have a setup (though already goes against the previous games lore in it), but has a jumbled mess the rest of the game that makes no sense (Green Lantern can instantly capture them, but doesn't in the boss fight, Flash can instantly run up to them and tear out their hearts, but doesn't, Batman without fear toxin took them all out easily, but couldn't with fear toxin, Superman beat Wonder Woman, but not these 4 asshats and Brainiac can freeze them and teleport them to his ship instantly, but doesn't) and the ending does not exist and the closest thing we have to one is anti climatic as fuck. Whereas Gotham Knights is sort of a 3D Beat Em Up with loot mechanics (I have no problem with loot mechanics personally as long as I can beat it without paying. Kinda feels like an RPG in some ways) SSKTJL is just Fortnite with connection issues and a 90$ price tag. Where Gotham Knights has 4 people Batman trained in order to make them worthy successors take on his brainwashed in the end which is believable SSKTJL has 2 people he one shot every encounter he had with them and 2 people in a movie closer lore wise he also easily beat and that movie had more people he took on at the same time 2 of which were even stronger than any of these 4. And he was in a warehouse which unlike the Batcave is not as much of a home advantage. Espeically seeing as a warehouse would be much closer to a home advantage to them as neither of them has even seen the Batcave with the exception of Panessa Studios with harley in Knight.
WAIT A MINUTE. Wouldn't the Green Lantern being mind controlled and having his worst negative traits amped mean he can't wield the ring anymore as not only is his will power dampned by mind control but but his rage, fears, grief and greed would also be amped.... it would have made more sense for him to be a Red Lantern or a Yellow Lantern seeing as a Batman Skin implies the Yellow Lanterns exist in the Arkhamverse. Also can the flash really stay mind controlled for long wouldn't his healing factor work any chemicals out of his body fast, as in like minutes. Supes probably the same issue honestly; hell if i'm being honest they probably should have made the JL slowly resort to greyer and greyer means of stopping Brainiac until they start fighting over solutions ultimately doing evil things like murdering even each other if it comes to that, no mind control just circumstances leading to the worst outcomes; like maybe the SS don't kill them just cause Waller has a hate boner or they're brainwashed but because they each cross lines as the world watches them try and save it live thanks to idk Lois and Jimmy maybe? Hell i'd probably mercy kill the Arkham Batman if he was brought to the point of murdering someone for the sake of saving the world in his eyes; least at that point he broke his one rule and in his own words across many canons "if i went down that road, there's no guarantee i'd come back" which is reinforced with Thomas Wayne's Batman and alternate Batman's where he does end up killing.... i think this game could have been a deep deconstruction of what being a hero means and how far heroes are willing to go to save the world when the odds aren't on their side instead the stories two biggest issues are that we meet the justice league well after they've lost from the perspective of characters who don't give a single shit AND the characters we play as are too goofy to fit in with the games serious nature cause idk the writers read the comics or watched the movie (the first one) and thought the SS were all whacky humor with sprinkles of heart... this leads to tone death moments like Batman's death which i feel would have had more impact if it was treated seriously... and Superman's death which Lois really didn't seem that torn up about which is just bizzare like what were they going for emotionally with the character writing cause it reeks of the same edge as "fuck Batman" to me, like the writers hated the JL so they shoehorned them into an SS v Brainiac story (fucking laughable but okay Rocksteady) just so they could depict them all really shallow before murdering them. Like idk Arkham's characters are so well written i thought the rest of the JL would be just as well defined but... nah? This game is a big let down.
Fun fact: The original Hall of Justice was based off of the Cincinnati Museum, which also used to be a train station, so that part is based in reality at least. Doesn't help the rest of the game, but still neat in my opinion.
OK, minor question isn't anyone going to ask why are we using uh man bats blood as one of the transversal things? I mean a shark with bat wings would be awesome also would make more sense than having king shark just jump all over the place like the incredible Hulk! For crying out loud at least when Jason had magic jumpy powers it made some strange sense wish that was part of his gameplay answer you we've been kind of cool to see if Jason played more into the whole magic aspect?
24:10 To be fair, Red Hood as far as we know has been killing Gotham’s villains such as Black Mask. Robin is still around as well which Penguin could handle but after Sionis got thrown through a window, I wouldn’t blame Penguin for leaving and going to a city where the heroes wouldn’t murder you

I love how while watching the reviews for this game, there's only one thing people usually don't agree on: Boomerang is either the only character that is slightly funny or he is by far the most insufferable being on earth.

You know, this game reeks of not enough time, which is weird all things considered. The re-used boss fight at the end, the super repetitive gameplay to get there. The story that has moments that could be cool, if a cohesive narrative had been put together (Like say, getting counters from Lex and Batman) that ended up utterly sucking, though that's more likely executive meddling than time. I don't hate Rocksteady for this game. I pity them. Someone made them sit down and create a game that destroyed everything they made. Now THAT is evil.

The Multiverse is not a bad thing or is a synonym for bad stuff, it is a great concept that franchises like Spider-Verse and Kingdom Hearts proves that it does worl and that it is awesome. Multiverse is not bad, its about how you handdle the theme, and unfortunely for Suicide Squad game they did not utilized correctly. Its the game's own fault and not the Multiverse theme.
So Wonder Woman's the only one not brainwased, Wonder Woman's also the only Main DC Hero who hasn't gotten a video game yet....so question why isn't this game about her then?
What I hate most is how deliberate this all was. Nothing in this game was done by accident, it was completely intentional. Maybe this is me not knowing how it works. How is yellow considered a weakness for green lantern? Sinestro is his main villain who he beats more times than not so how exactly does that work?
IIRC in the green lantern headquarters there's a big lantern battery and inside that battery there's a big yellow bug called Parallax that's the embodiment of fear or something, so the green lantern rings that is powered by willpower is weak to the color yellow because of it cuz it represents fear, which is also why the Sinestro corp who uses fear is yellow, it's more fear then just the color and i believe in most stories the green lanterns learn to ignore the color entirely

I haven't watched the whole review yet, but does everybody always forget that Arkham Origins was not created by Rocksteady? Because its photo is always included when people are saying, Rocksteady made all these games.

Y'know what's more insulting than shooting Batman dead, point blank, and unceremoniously in his own series? ... Superman has never had a good game made about him. Not one. And he barely has any lines in this game on top of dying as equally unceremoniously. Given that Supes is my favorite superhero, I take personal offense to that.

One Thing that this game does that I’ve always hated about the fear toxin is that because it’s comics, they have to make it a thing where they fight it both mentally and physically and I never understood what that shit looks like in an outsiders point of view? Like are they all shooting randomly until they hit Batman? Or is it all just like that South Park bit where Eric Cartman has a battle of the mines in his living room against a bunch of telepath and they’re all just making random bullshit up while shouting sound effects? I think they should’ve mixed the fear toxin with the yellow lantern rings. They already raped the laws of the lanterns in this universe so why not make Batman a yellow lantern using the fear toxin, his intimidation tactics, and making manbat constructs or something to attack them. Maybe other Batmen or other characters in the bat family or attack the Batmobile, have him fly around in the cave in the batwing. They could have him do literally anything, it could’ve been tons of fun
The designers could have designed it so that Batman's gadgets are represented by hallucinations (a massive clawed hand reaching out at you turns out to be his Bat-Claw, a weird flame erupting from the ground is his explosive gel, lightning strikes are actually from his remote electrical cannon). If a squad member is shooting at nothing, we should get instances of different villains weirded out by the squaddie's behavior. If the moment looks goofy, then GREAT, use that as humor. The game is supposed to be funny, so be funny!
Everything you mention that is strange is exactly what could be useful to deliver dramatic or humorous impact. But this game wasn't able to capitalize on the opportunity, mainly because it's a looter shooter that can't allow for diversity in gameplay or player experiences (and because the writer seems to have an allergy to good comedy). What I didn't get is, unlike other SQ Stories, the Team usually has a designated Handler that's on the ground with them to keep the goal focused. Sometimes there's a member of the Squad that is more loyal to Waller than others (Assault on Arkham's Deadshot) and a secret agent within the Squad (Assault on Arkham's Killer Frost). In the JLU, Rick Flag was actually on the ground in the Field w/ the Squad, so he was there to ensure everyone stuck to the plan. Rick Flag is the Team Leader w/ Peacemaker being the secret agent in the recent SQ movie as well.
If Rocksteady/Sweetbaby wanted to ride on the coattails of the previous success of SQ, they should have had a 5th member assisting the Team. Someone who wasn't a moron, and actually stuck to the plan instead of bickering like a bunch of idiots. There is no defining member of the team, no one who holds themselves together and no one who acts like the leader.

The thing is, the Suicide Squad was never meant to be this "in case the Justice League goes rogue" type group. We can somewhat blame the DCEU for that one (as well as this sudden need for a black Deadshot)
Task Force X is normally portrayed as a covert group that is sent on missions that the government can't do themselves for one reason or another. It also makes way more sense that way. If they complete the mission, they get their sentence reduced. These missions are also more times than not suicidal (hence Suicide Squad) and on the chance that they're caught they can easily be throw under the bus given their criminal backgrounds.

One thing that I don’t think anyone has mentioned in any video. This is a small very small nitpick. In the Batman Museum, if you interact with Mad Hatter’s display, Jack will say Jarvis Tetch. JARVIS Tetch. Hatter’s name is Jervis. Like, how do you get something as simple as a name wrong? And no one bothered to recheck everything?

It would make more sense for Gotham Knights to take place in the Arkhamverse than this now that I think about it. Batman dies and his former sidekicks have to carry on his legacy protecting Gotham. That was basically Gotham Knights in a nutshell and the ending of Arkham Knight had that exact same endind instead of this where you had to set up the JLA and kill them all in the same game keeping in mind that in order to even kill Superman(A good Superman whos holding back to boot) by himself it took Doomsday to do it. Last time i checked none of these villains even come close to that level of power so in order to kill the Justice League with these guys id take some major plot armor or just some characters making stupid choices

I personally liked Gotham Knights. True compared to the Arkham games it is nowhere close, but it's a 7/10 game imo and sometimes I just wanna play 7/10 games. It's just nice you know. Story I would say it's 8/10 as pretty good and enjoyed the story aspect the best past being the ending where Batman very slightly regains his mind and destroys himself and the Lazarus pit so he can't be brought back using it again. I also love how we see the Bat family interrupting him recording the video we saw at the start showing the good old days and how much they all cared for each other. And although it's easy to say Arkham is without a doubt the best style of gameplay for the Bat Family in general I think doing something different is something that should be tried.
SSKTJL on the other hand has a shit story. Where Gotham Knights gave Batman a heroic sacrifice as a death with people respecting and mourning him SSKTJL just instead shat on his chest and shared it on twitter in comparison.
Where Gotham Knights had good written characters we play as that stays true to the lore SSKTJL can't even keep their characters consistent with the source material they specifically made and said it was following.
Where Gotham Knights had a complete story that had a beginning that leads through believable events resulting in an ending the beginning and story lead up to SSKTJL does have a setup (though already goes against the previous games lore in it), but has a jumbled mess the rest of the game that makes no sense (Green Lantern can instantly capture them, but doesn't in the boss fight, Flash can instantly run up to them and tear out their hearts, but doesn't, Batman without fear toxin took them all out easily, but couldn't with fear toxin, Superman beat Wonder Woman, but not these 4 asshats and Brainiac can freeze them and teleport them to his ship instantly, but doesn't) and the ending does not exist and the closest thing we have to one is anti climatic as fuck.
Whereas Gotham Knights is sort of a 3D Beat Em Up with loot mechanics (I have no problem with loot mechanics personally as long as I can beat it without paying. Kinda feels like an RPG in some ways) SSKTJL is just Fortnite with connection issues and a 90$ price tag.
Where Gotham Knights has 4 people Batman trained in order to make them worthy successors take on his brainwashed in the end which is believable SSKTJL has 2 people he one shot every encounter he had with them and 2 people in a movie closer lore wise he also easily beat and that movie had more people he took on at the same time 2 of which were even stronger than any of these 4. And he was in a warehouse which unlike the Batcave is not as much of a home advantage. Espeically seeing as a warehouse would be much closer to a home advantage to them as neither of them has even seen the Batcave with the exception of Panessa Studios with harley in Knight.
WAIT A MINUTE. Wouldn't the Green Lantern being mind controlled and having his worst negative traits amped mean he can't wield the ring anymore as not only is his will power dampned by mind control but but his rage, fears, grief and greed would also be amped.... it would have made more sense for him to be a Red Lantern or a Yellow Lantern seeing as a Batman Skin implies the Yellow Lanterns exist in the Arkhamverse. Also can the flash really stay mind controlled for long wouldn't his healing factor work any chemicals out of his body fast, as in like minutes. Supes probably the same issue honestly; hell if i'm being honest they probably should have made the JL slowly resort to greyer and greyer means of stopping Brainiac until they start fighting over solutions ultimately doing evil things like murdering even each other if it comes to that, no mind control just circumstances leading to the worst outcomes; like maybe the SS don't kill them just cause Waller has a hate boner or they're brainwashed but because they each cross lines as the world watches them try and save it live thanks to idk Lois and Jimmy maybe? Hell i'd probably mercy kill the Arkham Batman if he was brought to the point of murdering someone for the sake of saving the world in his eyes; least at that point he broke his one rule and in his own words across many canons "if i went down that road, there's no guarantee i'd come back" which is reinforced with Thomas Wayne's Batman and alternate Batman's where he does end up killing.... i think this game could have been a deep deconstruction of what being a hero means and how far heroes are willing to go to save the world when the odds aren't on their side instead the stories two biggest issues are that we meet the justice league well after they've lost from the perspective of characters who don't give a single shit AND the characters we play as are too goofy to fit in with the games serious nature cause idk the writers read the comics or watched the movie (the first one) and thought the SS were all whacky humor with sprinkles of heart... this leads to tone death moments like Batman's death which i feel would have had more impact if it was treated seriously... and Superman's death which Lois really didn't seem that torn up about which is just bizzare like what were they going for emotionally with the character writing cause it reeks of the same edge as "fuck Batman" to me, like the writers hated the JL so they shoehorned them into an SS v Brainiac story (fucking laughable but okay Rocksteady) just so they could depict them all really shallow before murdering them. Like idk Arkham's characters are so well written i thought the rest of the JL would be just as well defined but... nah? This game is a big let down.

To be fair, Red Hood as far as we know has been killing Gotham’s villains such as Black Mask. Robin is still around as well which Penguin could handle but after Sionis got thrown through a window, I wouldn’t blame Penguin for leaving and going to a city where the heroes wouldn’t murder you

You know, this game reeks of not enough time, which is weird all things considered. The re-used boss fight at the end, the super repetitive gameplay to get there. The story that has moments that could be cool, if a cohesive narrative had been put together (Like say, getting counters from Lex and Batman) that ended up utterly sucking, though that's more likely executive meddling than time.
I don't hate Rocksteady for this game. I pity them. Someone made them sit down and create a game that destroyed everything they made. Now THAT is evil.

The Multiverse is not a bad thing or is a synonym for bad stuff, it is a great concept that franchises like Spider-Verse and Kingdom Hearts proves that it does worl and that it is awesome. Multiverse is not bad, its about how you handdle the theme, and unfortunely for Suicide Squad game they did not utilized correctly. Its the game's own fault and not the Multiverse theme.
So Wonder Woman's the only one not brainwased, Wonder Woman's also the only Main DC Hero who hasn't gotten a video game yet....so question why isn't this game about her then?

Maybe this is me not knowing how it works. How is yellow considered a weakness for green lantern? Sinestro is his main villain who he beats more times than not so how exactly does that work?
IIRC in the green lantern headquarters there's a big lantern battery and inside that battery there's a big yellow bug called Parallax that's the embodiment of fear or something, so the green lantern rings that is powered by willpower is weak to the color yellow because of it cuz it represents fear, which is also why the Sinestro corp who uses fear is yellow, it's more fear then just the color and i believe in most stories the green lanterns learn to ignore the color entirely

origins blackgate and arkham origins are not by rocksteady the two are by wb montreal and it's a trilogy that rocksteady made.
Y'know what's more insulting than shooting Batman dead, point blank, and unceremoniously in his own series? ... Superman has never had a good game made about him. Not one. And he barely has any lines in this game on top of dying as equally unceremoniously. Given that Supes is my favorite superhero, I take personal offense to that.

You're probably the only one I've heard that thinks Boomerang rather than being the worst is the best in not just this game, but the movie as well (guessing you mean the 2016 one, but then again in that Joker is worse). I and many others I've heard disagree, but hey we all have different opinions just like you disliking Harleys OG outfit. Probably my 3rd favorite personally after Injustice 2 and Gods and Monsters.
I love how everything is trying to be the next fortnite, meanwhile they do Microtransactions worse, fortnite gives you V-bucks for free, and gives you enough to buy the next battle pass if you buy the premium battle pass, plus for 20 bucks you can get way more then what suicide squad offers, what a shit game so glad this is what the Arkham universe ends with
