He's a tough one to pass on public ground. But my way of thinking is I have the opportunity to hunt most weekends. A hunter that might only get a couple chances to hunt each year would be more than proud to take a buck like that. Respect to you for letting him go and maybe that hunter might be there this weekend and takes him. He may be young but he sure is a nice buck and it takes control to let one like that walk on public here in the south.
I’m going to adopt that way of thinking. From now on, if I have to think about it, it’s not the one for me.

Great video - as usual Catman! But no way is the "rut" over in middle TN. You guys will have does coming into estrus at least into the 2nd week of Jan. I hunt NW MS, and it's common to see chasing way into Jan. Keep hunting. You'll see more action!

I've killed just as many deer laying on the ground as I have in a tree or in a ground blind..... great way to hunt.... I usually just lay at the base of a big tree and just lay over a backpack....... when your just a lump on the ground, deer dont seem to pay you much mind...
Dont think I'd pass that one up. But, if he's not what you want , then he's not what you want.
For me at this stage of my life and my deer hunting experiences ...it is a shooter. That being said, a doe is just as good.

Well if I was in my 30s being his left side G2 was broken I would pass. In reality if my 58 year old ass saw him now....he would be down. If it wasn't for the long video shot of him I would have never noticed the G2 missing. Always a good video CatMan!!

I ain't passing that deer up on public land. If you have a ton of private to hunt that has some big deer on it then it's ok to let him walk.
