  • Melanie and I spent a couple of weeks in Northern Arizona visiting our daughter. I took time to check out some of the natural attractions in the area. Today's visit took me to Arizona's Meteor Crater. It did not disappoint!

Visited the Barringer crater a few years ago on a west coast Mt. St. Helens climb vacation. When you first get to the area that allows you to look into the bowels of the crater it is awe inspiring. But after 20 minutes it's blah, just a big hole. But it is very cool. Nice video!

Thanks, Dan! I'm glad they had the video presentations, museum, and tour. It helped fill in the details. I'll bet your Mt. St. Helen's climb was an event to remember. Appreciate your comment! :)

Thanks for the tour. Now, how often do we find an impact crater in an area that can preserve it fairly well. My parents drove from our east coast home about 60 years ago to visit interesting sites like this. I was a wee one back then. Don't recall much.

Alan, thanks for watching and leaving your comment. I enjoy visiting unique places. The west is full of them. You're right, the crater is well preserved and managed. Interesting tour and museum. I wish they had a trail that took folks down to the interior. It was impressive. Happy day! :)

I decided not to pay $30 to look at a hole in the ground from a distance.

Thanks for watching. I was surprised it was $27, but I'd already driven 40 miles. It's nice youtube has so many videos available for free.
