@@fish45ful designers usually use the met gala to show their latest collections like how versace puts runway pieces that are slightly modified on the met gala carpet. its not the person wearing it thats at fault its the designers

i saw naomi's video on the MET gala where she says, models don't really a have a say in what they wear, it's up to the designers. Honestly I thought she made bad choices, but it was probably the designers she was working with that didn't want to give her those dresses.

I mean compare to other models (Gigi, Bella, Cara,VS angels...), They went all in, just saying... i know that lesser known models just go with whatever designer give them,but Karlie is one of the biggest models of the generation, she's always kinda blah at Met..
@@hongngochoang9016 totally valid point! But some years I do see famous models just wear clothes unrelated to the theme like kendall and gigi (last year they both were on theme though). I do hope karlie will get to wear something on-theme but still "her style" because she is an amazing model. The MET is an excuse to get creative, after all.
@@angelat5554 watching this again, i do get the vibe that karlie isn't one to be daring and pull off a fashion risk. She totally has the potential though, she's a great model. I'd love to actually be impressed by a MET outfit of hers.
Some of ya’ll seem to not get it. She’s a supermodel, she’d probably look great in a potato sack; the point is that it’s the MET gala. In 2019 she showed up in a basic ass after party looking gold dress. Not only was it not on theme, she just looked underdressed. Saying “I thought you looked great” makes no sense because clearly she always looks great, it’s the dress that’s the problem and the event that she wore it to.

I have a different take on that issue: Karlie has a very minimal, classic style. If you'd put her MET 2019 dress in a long row with every other dress she wore on a red carpet, it matches her personal style and it hits the camp theme. Karlie ain't Billy Porter. And the MET Gala is no costume party. I think, Karlie dressed as well as Billy Porter, they both slayed while staying true to themselves.

Models are often invited by designers which means they are required to wear what said designers make for them in exchange for their invite. Naomi Campbell recently said that the models also are rarely consulted about the designs.

My absolute fave look was the White transforming/transitioning Brandon Maxwell with the illuminating clutch bag for Manus X Machina. The dichotomy of the wrap coat and inner dress ugh amazing.

I like that she acknowledges that she doesn't go for the theme, but doesn't apologise for it. Her style has always been understated and chic, and that's what makes it her own. We have the Lady Gaga's and Beyonce's of the celebrity world to really grab our attention, as they always do. Without fail, you genuinely radiate your best looks when you feel it, and maybe for Karlie, she just felt most like herself with minor nods to the theme. Thank you for reading this dissertation and in conclusion Karlie Kloss looks amazing in basically everything, including UGG slippers lol

Last year, it was actually on my birthday and all of the stars aligned somehow as I got to watch you and a bunch of others walk outside of The Mark in your gowns. Yes Karlie I support you going for the themes! Met Gala is such a unique experience; you can wear those nice dresses to almost any other award show, but only once in a lifetime would you get to partake in whatever theme the Met Gala has each year :')
