- The only living member of The Ramones, Marky Ramone wowed a die-hard audience with stories of his life and career, as well as the tales behind many of The Ramones most iconic and popular songs.
Mark's memoir is entitled "Punk Rock Blitzkrieg: My Life as a Ramone".
He has earned his place in rock n roll. I like him a lot. He was a fantastic drummer.
One of the best drummmers, honestly.
How can you not like Marky? Intelligent, insightful and a great ambassador of the genre. God bless ya man.
You can tell he is a truth speaker, definitely no BS from Marky .I’m definitely buying his book 👌.
Him an joey fought constantly yet never threw him under the bus in this interview,,,,respect
His wig isn’t very truthful
@@shamupeterson2874 we all no your in your 40s and live at home with your parents
@@shamupeterson2874 something a karen would say...lol
I remember seeing Marky Ramone perform a live set and Q&A in a small pub in South Devon in South West England around 2008 looking back it was quite a surreal experience a brilliant gig but very surreal watching this great artist performing in a small pub in an English holiday town
There's still three members alive... Marky, CJ and Richie... Also, if you want to count Clem Burkes two shows as Elvis Ramone that makes four.
+LessThanSims They did fucking amazing things with CJ, I don't know why they put him down.
@@IggyMontpellierPro nothing against CJ, he's a real RAMONE, but by that time, they were playing the songs way too fast, losing some of their sheer power. gotta let those power chords breathe a bit. which exists on the early records. they were already fast enough.
LessThanSims I love these guys but I don't consider Marky to be an "icon". He played as he was taught to. Richie was a better drummer and contributed in writing lyrics, music and would sing, which Joey encouraged him to. CJ did his best with what he was dealt, knowing the band was on its last leg.
@@swinglow33 I agree about rich's drumming...there's something about his style; mark was on the great end/century & pleasant dreams, tom on the pinnacle rocket/russia & rich on their last 'important' l.p- too tough to die but the ramones notable years were 77-82.
Tony M Very well said bro! I agree 👍
God I love his Brooklyn accent...he sounds so authentic....exotic even...Marky is a solid down to earth dude...hard to find these days...let’s cherish him💪👌🥃
He's an inflated twat and only morons like you cherish him.
@@ThunderAppeal no way Marky more than paid his dues and he kicks ass
@@ThunderAppeal wtf have you done, try duplicating his drumming. He will live on after his death, you will be unknown. What a miserable lump you are.

I've always loved Marky Ramone's monotone voice. He should be a voice actor.
Krptke from Big Bang Theory
As a Southerner, I'm fascinated by Marky's New York accent and demeanor. He seems to be a very smart and laid back guy who would be a great friend to have. RIP Joey, Johnny, Tommy and Dee Dee.
Marky isn't by any stretch of the imagination the only living member of the Ramones. Besides Marky, CJ Ramone and Richy Ramone are still very much alive. CHECK YOUR FACTS!
Marky rules !
I read his book and wish I knew about this event , I would have gone to it .
Hamsters Rule.
Johnny Rules!!!!!
Strength To Endure , Main Man are excellent CJ sung songs Superb !! Making Monsters , Journey To The Centre of The Mind , My Back Pages , Shape of Things ... ... ...
CJ did a fantastic job indeed
Had they been able to reunite in the 2000’s after a break they would have been Huge !! The biggest boost and success of their careers Guaranteed ... Tragic
I cant think of any other band that had a disproportionate amount of fans after they broke up than beforehand. I've been a fan since their first album😊
Marky rocks! I love that video in which he explains the stamina you've gotta have to play drums in a Ramones' gig. Not only a great drummer but an extremely lovable guy as well 🥰
at my cousins' place, my Aunt had in the closet, a Marky Maypo doll/statue, which was probably the result of sending in box tops, but I wish to this day, that I had aquired it. and she was such a sweetheart, I only had to ask, probably.
Really classy of Marky to not rip on Dee Dee about that whole Dee Dee King "phase". It's pretty hard not to, but really takin the high road there.
Marky may you live to be 104!!!!
DeeDee was WAY ahead of his time with the punk/rap thing.
he shares my birthday July 15th and same middle name Steven. cool seen The Ramones a lot in the 80s
“Sometimes cold pizza 🍕 is better than hot pizza. “ - Marky Ramone
Just give the man his pizza
Marky says the same exact things in every interview. If I had a nickel for every time I've heard him say, "the songs are too good not to be played," and "they died too young to enjoy the fruits of their labor" I'd be filthy rich.
You’d also be filthy rich if you played drums as good as Marky and paid your dues in an iconic band
@@kungpao-wp2sq - Thanks for pointing that out Captain Obvious.
grande marky RAMONE
Marky is a rock icon !!!!!
I’ve done construction. Imagine being on a job & Marky Ramone shows up to work with you 😝
love the suooort of the classics
Animal Boy and Halfway to Sanity are fucking Amazing. But I was glad when Marky came back because Brain Drain was bad ass.
Richie got the shaft though. Bands gotta pay their guys, even if they’re not original.
35:55 - Wow! It's no different than now. I don't listen to radio nowadays cos the mainstream music sucks and so I started listening to oldies too.
Me too
That is still going on today as well😁
Gravesend, Brooklyn.
Mark & Johnny sound/sounded so much like Kriptke from The Big Bang Theory
This guy I the funniest person in rock n roll.i imagine him stuck whit the Ramones inside a Van
I often wonder if he ever made a decent living after he stopped playing with them. Hopefully he invested the little he got
👏👏👏👏👏
CJ was like sid vicious Dee Dee was like glen Matlock CJ looked the part great bass player r.i.p Ramones
👍👍👍
Life doesn't revolve around iphones and shit. Life went on, and you don't need phones to occupy time. Touring in a Van can be hell, im not denying that, but if you know how to pass time, its not so bad.
He didn't mention Joey except for a few times. Joey was the Ramones- the reason people listened to the Ramones- not Johnny, Dee Dee, Tommy, Marky, CJ , Richie or Elvis .
Clem Broke (Elvis Ramone) was only a temp Drummer so he wasn't that's his story (SHORT!)
dee dee was the essential songwriter
Yes Dee Dee was the main songwriter and Joey only sang the songs Dee Dee wrote but Joey Wrote one song for some of the albums Johnny played guitar on the songs I know you're gonna Say no dugh so you don't have to say it because I already said it for you, You can thank me Instead
Barbara Jenkins Dee Dee was the ramones
Johnny was equally important to Joey. His attitude/personality, look, and above all else, sound. Take the Joey Ramone solo album... two if you include "Ya Know" as a proper album. I love them, but, are they the same as a Ramones album? No way. By contrast, take a song like "wart hog". There's no Joey on it, but it's Ramones AF. Or Durango 95- that's all Johnny, and it's all Ramones. That said, people under rate Joey as a song writer when they say "Dee Dee wrote most of the songs". Joey wrote the first 2 Ramones songs- "I don't care" and "here today, gone tomorrow". Joey wrote such classics as "Beat on the Brat", "Sheena..", "..Sedated", "...Rock N' Roll Radio", and "KKK...". Meanwhile Tommy wrote "Blitzkrieg". It was hardly all Dee Dee. Bottom line: all the Ramones were important to what made the band sublimely awesome.
CJ was a lot better than dee dee, he has a beautiful singing voice . And also he's very handsome 😊
Since when is Marky an icon?
Since dee dee, Joey and Johnny died
@@clydekimsey7503 Don't Forget Tommy.
@@leroywatermelon4025 he's dead too
CJ is a better torch carrier for the Ramones , Marky clearly wrote the book for the money . All these interviews with him are the same , meh , like a stuck record .
If only they both got along now, would be cool to see them play in a band together doing classic Ramone songs. I feel lucky to have met them both. Saw CJ play about 5 months ago & he kicks ass still!
What is the edit at 40:29? Very confusing. Thumb down
I should be on Fox News heh heh heh.... 21:05
Nobody rocks a wig like Marky,
MARKY GET RID OF THAT WIG ! WTF
Give the guy a break he’s a freakin rock icon
Richie Ramone!
the only living memeber because he was not really an original Ramone, he was an add-on, real Ramones died young
we was many more years a drummer of the ramones than tommy. So yeah he is pretty original
Dude he was in the ramones for 15 years he’s an icon and a real Ramone
Lol he joined in 78, what u mean?
Me, me and again me, makes me sick and sad in same time how he write/talk about Joey. CJ is way better Ramone, as he is only one who keep spirit alive, while Marky do his selfpromotions just to get more money... Point is that he could not talk like this while any of old members were alive.
in my opinion joey lost his voice very early on.
How early?
kkk Marky é um palhaço, e está vestido a caráter! Vergonha dos Ramones!
That made no sense then and it doesn't now
