    Love my Calypso. Rolls the load over at the same time it rotates through the recirculation stream. Better wash action and more efficient on water usage during the wash period than the HE impeller TLs nowadays and even some FLs. Rinses very well. 800 RPM spin.

    This is awesome Eugene! The coolest HE washer ever made! haha. I think recirculating water should be on every HE machine. I really does make a difference.

    I was always in awe of this machine when I saw the Sears version. I couldn’t get over that it was so different from other machines and it wasn’t cheap either it was very expensive compared to traditional washers.

    I had this washer back in 2011 and i will say that the clothes came out pretty clean and it was really good washing pillows and comforters. My biggest issue was that it was shredding my bath towels and my bathroom rugs. But it washed pretty well and i will say that it washes better than most HE top load washers today. Thank u Eugene. Hope to see more videos soon of this washer

    These were pretty well built. If I remember correctly when these first came out consumer reports said these were the best cleaning washers ever up to that point about 1999 ?or 98..right around that time though.

    • @Dog-Lover36
      @Dog-Lover36 3 года назад

      Whirlpool Gold appliances became introduced during 1998. The company actually introduced Catalyst washing machine two year later, followed by Calypso washing machine during 2001. Kenmore Elite appliances became introduced and manufactured the Catalyst washing machine during 1999. The company introduced Calypso washing machine with complete electronic pushbuttons during 2002, followed by the last of the series containing rotary control cycle selector one year later. One Kenmore Elite 90 Series washing machine with rotary controls, including Fabric Speed Combo contained Whitest Whites and Catalyst setting. Too bad Catalyst and Calypso washing machines and matching dryers are no longer designed.

    I'll bet it twisted and shredded many a load in its day. But the build quality was there. Thanks for the awsome video Eugene. My friend had the other wonder, the Maytag Neptune TL. It lasted two years, blew its motherboard and since Maytag was sold and bankrupt there were no parts available.

    • @DADoESofTX
      @DADoESofTX 6 лет назад +1

      I have a Neptune TL, bought June 2008. I don't use it much but the only trouble has been a bad clutch/pulley during warranty. Parts look-up shows that some are NLA but many are available. The machine control board is NLA but CorecentricSolutions lists it as one they repair (or swap-out for a rebuilt).

    • @LlyleHunter
      @LlyleHunter 6 лет назад

      I really liked the machine and hoped that it would have lasted him a long time. It washed very well and was very quiet.

    • @DADoESofTX
      @DADoESofTX 6 лет назад +3

      Bruce Solomon Neppy TLs do well with loads of heavier fabric such as jeans and towels. Not so well with lightweight/synthetics. I once watched a load of 21 cotton/synthetic shirts sit and not roll over even once through the entire wash period. I had to restart the cycle and help it along. Majority of users would never know that happens since the lid locks and operation can't be seen without taking some specific effort.

    I remember that it was with this washing machine that people started requesting a see through lid. Of course, Whirlpool never made it happen until the Cabrios came out. Thee only Calypsos that did have windows, were the floor models at appliance dealers.

    • @Dog-Lover36
      @Dog-Lover36 3 года назад +1

      Whirlpool still designs Cabrio washing machines and matching dryers, which became introduced during 2006. American appliance companies are designing less top loaders in the United States these days because front loaders save lots more gallons of water, energy, heat, detergent.

      This was a different concept, the idea was for it to basically simulate a washboard action and get the clothes cleaner. It was one of the first HE washers and I remember 15 yesrs ago these retailed for like $1000 which was unheard of back then.

    In my opinion, I don't think this washer does a good job. The agitator doesn't really move the cloths around as demonstrated by your microfiber towels not coming back to the surface and going back under the water. They just stayed on the bottom of the tub the entire time. However, I do like the idea of the constant recirculation of the water while the agitator is going.
