At 0:34 you say ""the fast charging speeds and folding design really set is apart from the previous models" then at 2:48 you state "in terms of charging speeds the convertible charger is actually no faster than Samsung previous 2 fast charging pads"
If the point of this new upgrade is for traveling convenience I don't see the point. You have to carry the cable regardless when traveling. So why bother carrying yet another accessory when the cable can be used as is? Theses pads are useful at the desk in the office or home where it can be installed and left alone. That is where the "wireless" capability shines!
If you like it standing up, the old upright one was a bit difficult to pack nicely, it took up a large amount of space. This solves that by being able to flatten it. For the price, probably just easier to carry the flat one.
Jez T I take mine in long travels because connecting the cables several times a day for a month (phone discharges fast when you take a lot of pictures) is even more annoying than carrying an extra accessory, and I gotta say this is a big improvement over my Stand version of the carger. Makes it so much easier to carry, and use it in different positions.
If this doesn't charge any faster than the previous model, unless you intend on using it in flat orientation, might as well save some cash and get the older model. Especially in a location where it won't be moved often (such as a workplace.)
Is there really a significant advantage to wireless charging? You have to plug the wireless charger to a wall plug anyway and you have to put the phone on the charger so for me it actually inhibits the movement possibility or the movement range of your phone when you are charging. For example you can use your phone while you are on your bed laying down when you charge it normally with a cable but you can't really lay down and use your phone when you are using the wireless charger can you?
The US Samsung site says it comes with a charger to make sure you are delivering the correct current to avoid damage. I guess the UK is getting shafted again :-/
Oh, ok. And the wall plug? There must be different versions floating around. The us version comes in a box and in this vid the UK version comes in a shitty plastic tray.
I don't get it. You still have to plug the wireless charger into an outlet. So whats the difference between using a wireless charger and simply plugging your phone into the charger cable directly? Also it still uses a wire lol...so its not really wireless is it. What problem does it solve? This from a guy who has just bought the Galaxy S8+ and who was given a wireless charger free as part of a promo.
Swamp Dogzz One advantage I can think of is reducing a wear of USB Type C port. Also some might argue it's more convenient to just put a phone on a flat surface instead of plugging in the cable every time.
It is meant for charging wirelessly, but it itself is not a wireless charger. You get what I mean? This is merely for convenience where people would just drop their phone on the pad and charge.
Will charging wired preserve the battery lifetime more than wireless charging? I got the wireless charging pad when I buy my S8, but I'm more concerned with the longevity of the battery. Should I keep using the wireless charger or charge it wired?
Chris Jordan I have a Note 5 and as far as I can tell it's charge with essentially any case you can put on the phone, even a larger OtterBox. Since you asked I started adding layers of different materials between the phone and the charger, and it will charge with about 3/4" of gap with most materials even some plate aluminum (thought I haven't tested to see if the charging speed changes). Solid charger for sure, and the fan really makes a difference as opposed to the original fast charger.
I think it's region dependent form my subsequent research. It seems like the UK and a few other countries don't receive a charger with it, but the US for example will :)
Got this. This is the 950 model right? Using the adapter 15 w and the cable that comes with the phone, s20 fe is not fast wireless charging. It is turned on in the battery menu
Hello! I have a question. Would the battery of the phone be affected (in a bad way) if you constantly remove the phone while charging it on a wireless charger? Say if you received a text message and you need to reply so you removed the phone from the wireless charger, would it harm the phone's battery?
Mobile Fun I think it's stupid that it still includes a fan. Have any idea how annoying that is? I sometimes have to turn off the fast wireless charging to avoid the noise. And yes, it's a very low noise but it's enough to disturb you at night or while sitting next to it while you're reading.
At 0:34 you say ""the fast charging speeds and folding design really set is apart from the previous models" then at 2:48 you state "in terms of charging speeds the convertible charger is actually no faster than Samsung previous 2 fast charging pads"
I'm about to get a Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus my question is with the charging station that I have it's not the one you're talking about that fold down will the Samsung Galaxy S9 plus still work on the one that I have for the charging station or would I have to get a new charging station for the new Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus if you could get back to me I much appreciate it
hi...can the wireless charger work with samsung s6 edge...similarly, what could have happened that s8+ with led view cover couldn't get charge except i open the flip. if i close the flip, it wont work.
So, I've had this wireless charger for a while now, and it just stopped charging all of a sudden. A blue and green light flashes briefly for like a second or less and then stops. After all that, after placing my phone on it, it doesn't charge. I need help please!
with the wireless charge do you still need to connect it to the mains to power the device? as i had the old wireless charger for my s6 edge plus however i had to make sure it was always connected to the mains to power the device?
I wonder if there is a wireless charger out there. Like, a literal one just an adapter with blutooth connection or Wi-Fi hotspot built in and the USB C or whatever type of USB your phone is.. I would love to see that in the future
Does the charger make noise while charging? I recall the previous models kicking the fans on when using the fast charge. I wonder does this make sound when charging regularly and NOT using the fast charge?
Thanks for the reply! You're right, if using regular charging the charger is silent and even with fast charging the fans are relatively quiet. I just like that there is option since I usually charge my phone during the night
I'm debating about getting a wireless charger for my LG V30 (when it comes out) and I'm wondering if this one would be a good choice, or if there might be a better match. I'm not aware of LG making wireless chargers, so I'm curious which chargers will work with their phones.
I have a Samsung galaxy a5 2017 with broken USB charging port so I can't charge it anymore and was looking for an alternative like a charger pad but I can't find one that adapts to my phone on amazon. Does anyone have recommendations for an affortable charging pad compatible with a5? Thanks!
Why if i use my note 5 in this wireless charger, the option fast charging wirelessly is not working even if it is already turned on? I use a 9v fast charger connected on the pad. HELP!!!
I bought this phone with an Otter box and It doesn't seem to charge with my Otter box on! I'm not taking off my protection! Do you have any Ides on how to use this charger with my Otter Box on?? Thanks! Kim
I recently bought mine but the problem is...It's not charging my phone (note 10) and when I press my phone against it...it lit the blue light and off again...plz help

Jez T I thought this thing was a portable charger so you wouldn't need to find and outlet to plug into.. Lol
Jez T whats the benefit of wireless chargers compared to normal chargers?
azas khan that it's wireless
Got a free wireless charger with my S8 Plus 128 GB & working perfectly. Thank you, Samsung.
Got 1 brand new from a garage sale for....... 10dollars. I love it
If this doesn't charge any faster than the previous model, unless you intend on using it in flat orientation, might as well save some cash and get the older model. Especially in a location where it won't be moved often (such as a workplace.)
That’s what I did. The older stand model one is perfect.
Is there really a significant advantage to wireless charging? ZappyPayload that may be correct. I preordered this and I have received it already. There is indeed a cable included
Oh, ok. And the wall plug? There must be different versions floating around. The us version comes in a box and in this vid the UK version comes in a shitty plastic tray.
ZappyPayload yes it does have the wall plug as well. and it does come in a nice box
ZappyPayload mine came with a fast charger here in the US. That's silly that that didnt happen everywhere else
Shondra Patrick how's you're galaxy s8 after 2 months? I hear people are saying some are lagging after 2 months of use.
$90 and they don't even provide a wall plug??!
Rickey Brown It does indeed come with the plug. I preordered this and I have received it already.
Shondra Patrick How did you get yours already. I'm still waiting for mine.
Rickey Brown you don't need to buy a plug because you will already have one for the phone in the box you idiot.
I pre ordered from T mobile at the same time that I pre ordered the S8. I received the charger about a week later
U are suppose to use the charger that came with your phone. Which is fine and environmental friendly.
does it work thru a case? (more spasificly the defender otter box case) (the biggest and bulkiest case)
DragonOak06 I have the same question.
It work S9 ? (not the plus one)

Swamp Dogzz you really cant figure out??? Lol
will last year's stand up charger work with galaxy s8
Alex Rud yeah they work with any of the galaxy phones that have wireless charging.
Alex Rud nice question
Will charging wired preserve the battery lifetime more than wireless charging? I got the wireless charging pad when I buy my S8, but I'm more concerned with the longevity of the battery. Should I keep using the wireless charger or charge it wired?
Does it charge with a phone case on it, or does it need to be bare?
Chris Jordan I have a Note 5 and as far as I can tell it's charge with essentially any case you can put on the phone, even a larger OtterBox. Since you asked I started adding layers of different materials between the phone and the charger, and it will charge with about 3/4" of gap with most materials even some plate aluminum (thought I haven't tested to see if the charging speed changes). Good video but your info seems to be wrong. On the website it says it comes with an included Samsung fast charge wall adapter.
Does it works if my Samsung S8 has a case that is not original from Samsung? And it comes with the cable or only with the adapter?
Does it always have to be connected to the wired charger while charging or can we use it on the go?

Does the charger make noise while charging? I recall the previous models kicking the fans on when using the fast charge. I wonder does this make sound when charging regularly and NOT using the fast charge?
If you use a "regular" charger it does not start the fan. Also, even with the fan on, it's quite silent.
Thanks for the reply! You're right, if using regular charging the charger is silent and even with fast charging the fans are relatively quiet. I just like that there is option since I usually charge my phone during the night
