If the point of this new upgrade is for traveling convenience I don't see the point. You have to carry the cable regardless when traveling. So why bother carrying yet another accessory when the cable can be used as is? Theses pads are useful at the desk in the office or home where it can be installed and left alone. That is where the "wireless" capability shines!
If you like it standing up, the old upright one was a bit difficult to pack nicely, it took up a large amount of space. This solves that by being able to flatten it. For the price, probably just easier to carry the flat one.
Jez T I take mine in long travels because connecting the cables several times a day for a month (phone discharges fast when you take a lot of pictures) is even more annoying than carrying an extra accessory, and I gotta say this is a big improvement over my Stand version of the carger. Makes it so much easier to carry, and use it in different positions.

If this doesn't charge any faster than the previous model, unless you intend on using it in flat orientation, might as well save some cash and get the older model. Especially in a location where it won't be moved often (such as a workplace.)

Will charging wired preserve the battery lifetime more than wireless charging? I got the wireless charging pad when I buy my S8, but I'm more concerned with the longevity of the battery. Should I keep using the wireless charger or charge it wired?

U are suppose to use the charger that came with your phone. Which is fine and environmental friendly.
Is there really a significant advantage to wireless charging? You have to plug the wireless charger to a wall plug anyway and you have to put the phone on the charger so for me it actually inhibits the movement possibility or the movement range of your phone when you are charging. For example you can use your phone while you are on your bed laying down when you charge it normally with a cable but you can't really lay down and use your phone when you are using the wireless charger can you?
does it work thru a case? (more spasificly the defender otter box case) (the biggest and bulkiest case)

The US Samsung site says it comes with a charger to make sure you are delivering the correct current to avoid damage. I guess the UK is getting shafted again :-/

I've watched quite a few videos on this charger and by far this has been the best one. Thank you for actually mentioning the tech specs (the part about it charging at the same speed as its predecessors) no other video mentioned it.
Hello! I have a question. Would the battery of the phone be affected (in a bad way) if you constantly remove the phone while charging it on a wireless charger? Say if you received a text message and you need to reply so you removed the phone from the wireless charger, would it harm the phone's battery?

Chris Jordan I have a Note 5 and as far as I can tell it's charge with essentially any case you can put on the phone, even a larger OtterBox. Since you asked I started adding layers of different materials between the phone and the charger, and it will charge with about 3/4" of gap with most materials even some plate aluminum (thought I haven't tested to see if the charging speed changes). Solid charger for sure, and the fan really makes a difference as opposed to the original fast charger.
Do you charge the device itself, then let it charge the phone? Or do you have to have the device constantly plugged in?

I don't get it. You still have to plug the wireless charger into an outlet. So whats the difference between using a wireless charger and simply plugging your phone into the charger cable directly? Also it still uses a wire lol...so its not really wireless is it. What problem does it solve? This from a guy who has just bought the Galaxy S8+ and who was given a wireless charger free as part of a promo.
Swamp Dogzz One advantage I can think of is reducing a wear of USB Type C port. Also some might argue it's more convenient to just put a phone on a flat surface instead of plugging in the cable every time.

It is meant for charging wirelessly, but it itself is not a wireless charger. You get what I mean? This is merely for convenience where people would just drop their phone on the pad and charge.

Got this. This is the 950 model right? Using the adapter 15 w and the cable that comes with the phone, s20 fe is not fast wireless charging. It is turned on in the battery menu

hi...can the wireless charger work with samsung s6 edge...similarly, what could have happened that s8+ with led view cover couldn't get charge except i open the flip. if i close the flip, it wont work.

Does the charger make noise while charging? I recall the previous models kicking the fans on when using the fast charge. I wonder does this make sound when charging regularly and NOT using the fast charge?
If you use a "regular" charger it does not start the fan. Also, even with the fan on, it's quite silent.
Thanks for the reply! You're right, if using regular charging the charger is silent and even with fast charging the fans are relatively quiet. I just like that there is option since I usually charge my phone during the night

Justin Amler it doesnt have to always be plugged in. Once its charged up, it can be used like a portable charger

I bought this and have two qualms/questions with it.
1. It's always making a noise even when you're not using it. Really annoying at night when you're trying to sleep
2. The charger itself gets so hot that in my first wireless charger the plastic melted and then it stopped working and I got a replacement one which is getting superhot too and wouldn't be surprised if it suffers the same fate. I'm using the original adaptive fast charge charging brick.

Picked up some $15 Chinese one from eBay and it's miles better. No sound when it's not being used, got an led strip around it so you can see it at night where to place your phone, oh and it has no fan because it's actually thin and doesn't need a fan to dissipate heat. If I were you, I'd save your money. I was like you thinking 'oh I better buy a legit brand one because they would be better' turns out that's not the case

I think it's region dependent form my subsequent research. It seems like the UK and a few other countries don't receive a charger with it, but the US for example will :)
I have one, and really like it. But the LED is WAY TOO BRIGHT!!!! This sits on my bedside table, and lights up half my room. Is there any way to dull this down?
Does it work with a thick case? I had to modify my Stand version by raising the coils inside the accessory, for being able to use with a case (really Samsung?), and this one seems even harder to open and modify. After my modification it works with any phone naked or with a case, so I feel Samsung was just freaking lazy to place the coils conveniently for users with a case.
