Private Behind The Scenes Tour At The Orlando Science Center, Meeting Some Cool Animals & Fun Facts!

  • In today's vlog we head to the Orlando Science Center to experience the new VIP Experience Behind The Scenes Adventure Tour! These 90-minute private programs are offered for groups of 3-10 guests from the same party who would like to visit the museum before the Science Center is open to the general public or as the Science Center is winding down at the end of the day. This tour is $250 for non members and $200 for Science Center members and that is for up to 10 people. During our hands on adventure we were able to learn so many cool facts about the animals in Nature Works, which is the area we were touring. We saw how they fed the coral and fish in their saltwater fish tank, which was really neat. Then we learned about the Surinam toads and other reptiles. We also got to make the daily diets for the tortoises, skunk and bearded dragon. Jackson was so excited to meet and pet Memphis, the skunk. We were so proud of him and how gentle he was with the animals today! We also got to do some painting enrichment with a Aerys, the savannah monitor. We got to take the paintings home, too. At the end of our tour we were able to meet Lina, the sloth! This was her very first time meeting guests so we were very honored to be the first to meet her! Jackson even got to pet her and he was so gentle, he did great! This tour was a lot of fun and we'll definitely be looking into doing it again. They do have another area you can tour, the Hive, maker space. We'll leave a link to the Science Center's website below so you can learn more if you like. We hope you enjoyed hanging out with us today and meeting all the animals! Thank you for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

    Probably one of my favorite videos, Jackson is going to grow up being such a well rounded person!
    The only off putting thing was the painting of the monitor, maybe it’s non toxic paint but it encourages those people out there thinking it’s okay to go ahead and paint any reptile or animal out there.

    • @madsmom22
      @madsmom22 3 года назад +3

      Plus, it was supposed to be so the animal didn't get bored, to enhance their experience.... but I don't see how the monitor knew what was going on. It didn't see their artwork...

  • @xBloodxFangx

    For people that dont seem to understand, a savannah monitor is a very curious and active animal. By just getting him out and allowing him to experience something that is not sitting in his enclosure all day, while also getting to explore and sense things IS enrichment. They dont really play with toys, so just getting them out, handling them and letting them experience something that is not sitting in their cage is enrichment. The paints they used are also non-toxic finger paints. It seems pointless to paint with a lizard but the handling alone is actually very good for him as it keeps the giant lizard use to handling and allows some sort of interaction that is something besides sitting and waiting for food.

    Hey Tim! Just FYI there is a secret Hot Dog available at Disney Springs at the Hot Diggity Dogs food truck (open daily from 6pm - close) on the West side now until Jan. 25th. It's called a "King Dog." To get the Peanut Butter and Bacon king dog you must say to them, "Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggity Dog!" Capture that on video if you can and Enjoy!

      A lot of science museums here are split into two overarching themes, human and non-human, or maybe nature and technology. The nature side of things will usually explore biomes, weather, plant life, fish, reptiles, and mammals though the typical selection of the latter three is generally pretty narrow where a zoo will have MANY species. Science museums generally have very few animal exhibits compared to a zoo. The technology side of things would be more of your human-influenced science, so things like medicine and the human body, space, physics, computer tech. Oftentimes you'll find exhibits like the Pompeii one Tim mentions where it's a more historical exhibit, but they talk a lot about how science influenced the occurrence or what have you. Either way, it's definitely not a zoo but I can see how you might think that from this video alone. Live animals are not a LARGE part of most science centers, rather a part of a bigger exhibit about geography and climate, etc!

    I used to have a red eared slider! We actually rescued him, he was turned over in our backyard.

    This was so cool, and interesting, thank you for sharing this with us! Loved how Jackson was so fascinated by the animals, and he was gentle when he did want to touch them. Every time you've vlogged here has been fascinating.
    Socially distanced hugs from New Jersey to the 3 of you. Stay safe, stay positive, stay healthy!!
