  • In today’s vlog we hang out at home with Jackson and give you a little update now that he’s almost 14 months old! We show you some of the things we’re working on with him. He knows some of his body parts, some of his farm animals and shapes! We’re so proud of him! Then we have some dinner, Jackson has pasta and veggies, we have pork katsu and bok choy. Both were great! Then we take you on a tour of all of the things we plan to do at our house. We had so many things planned last year and we did none of them so we want to try to do them all this year! Then we let you in on another little secret that we've been talking about for a little while. We really want to start trying for another baby soon! We'll keep you updated in future home vlogs. Then we end the night with a little chat on the couch. We hope you had fun hanging out with us at home today! Thank you for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

Jen, NOBODY's life is perfect. Most vloggers filter what they put out, and the parts you don't see are the chaos, which is NORMAL!!!

Yea most people just show "the neat section" of their house. I know when our hot water tank stopped working, we were just pushing stuff out of the way and covering stuff up before the workers got there. LOL. It's the basement, but we were still like, "hide the mess!"

Jackson is so full of energy at the moment he can't be bothered to answer questions. He just needs to move around and PLAY! And DO STUFF! Tim, if you haven't started singing "Head and Shoulders Knees and Toes" to him yet, it was a reliably big hit with my nephews. It's especially funny (for them) when you do it faster and faster until its ridiculous and then act all tired.

We give the kids at daycare a blanket as soon as they are able to move it off of them or move about in the cribs usually around a year.
Also it would be wonderful for Jackson’s fine motor development if you started encouraging him to feed himself.

My two year old (shes 26 months) still sleeps in her zipadeezip. We love it. We don’t feel comfortable with a blanket in her crib and this is perfect. My oldest slept in his until he got a big boy bed when he was 3. Also I think it helps prevent them from escaping out of their crib and climbing over. It’s a lifesaver!

I’m teaching from home full-time, because San Francisco is still in distance learning, with an 8 year old, 5 year old, and 14 month old home with me full-time, plus a dog and two cats, while my husband works outside the home for long hours - you can imagine my house! Ha!

We gave blankets at a year because that’s when they were allowed to have them at daycare. But we also coslept some so he was using our comforter at around 6 months.
He’s a very smart boy. I see you feed him most of the time when he’s on camera eating. Makes sense when you’re out but at home in the high a chair is this just to avoid a mess or do y’all ever just turn him loose? Turning them loose is messy but helps so much with fine motor skills.
Those Instagram put together people spend a lot of time looking that out together lol. I have a sign in my house that says “excuse the mess, my family lives here” and I think that’s a great message. My house isn’t dirty but it has toys throughout and looks lived in. You’re normal lol.
Ok I’m rambling but I’d love to see a 2nd tracker baby. Jackson will have so much fun with a sibling. It took us 4 years to get pregnant again after our first so mine are 4 1/2 years apart but they still play together well.

Thank you for being real. I loved the moment “don’t show the internet the hole in my socks” and the real life messy room.
As for the infant car seat donate it, now. Many places will not take care seats due to recalls, accidents, and safety concerns so you might have to ask or find a person in need. The car seats have an expiration date and if you have another baby you will want a new seat. The expiration dates aren’t that long on the seats.
You made me tear up letting us know you are thinking about another baby. Thanks for being real and sharing. Prayers and just know God is with you.

I am a mother of 4. The last two were twins. I have always said if I had it to do it again I would have had one. I loved the alone time I got with my first born. We spent so much time together learning about life and discovering new things. When I had my second child that stopped. My oldest didn't understand why suddenly I couldn't do the age appropriate things I did before. Everything was about the "baby" I could never give the baby the attention and care I gave the oldest. They were wonderful babies. They are and have been best friends. Then I had the twins and life was just crazy. Covid won't last forever. You will be going out more and more. I think having an only child would have been wonderful. Just my opinion. You are wonderful parents. Whatever your decision your child/children will be very lucky to have you.

When in doubt check the American Academy of Pediatrics for info! Blankets are not safe in a crib but are safe once baby is in a toddler bed. Also most cribs have a safe maximum height of 35” for babies so once Jackson is 35” tall he should be moved to a toddler bed (or even the crib mattress on the floor, as long as his room is safely childproofed!)

Sending you all the positive baby thoughts!
My husband and I are officially cleared for TTC as of last Wednesday. 🥳
I took a break from your channel after we lost our daughter in September when she was born. We tried for her for years, like you did with Jackson. Knowing that we will eventually have a family like yours helps keep me going.
I’m excited to catch up with you guys again, and hopefully we will both have another baby on the way soon! ❤️

That’s the stage of life you’re in, and it’s just a phase and one day, you’re house will be perfect and everything picked up and done and no undone projects and you’ll be sad, because your kids are grown, so embrace the chaos and the mess, because you’re making memories! I gave my kids blankets when they could roll and pull the blanket off if they need to. Currently my 9 month old sleep with a blanket and he sleeps 11 hours without waking up in the night. Both my kids hated being swaddled. They like to stretch out.

I just LOVE your videos! My son is 17 months old and he sleeps with a thin swaddle blanket every night and has since he was born and he has never had any issues. We went from swaddling him with it to a normal blanket at about 5 months and since 12 months he lays down puts his arms up and waits to get tucked in with it. The swaddle blankets we have are breathable and very thin which made me feel more comfortable! I also still have most of my sons baby items with the same thoughts that I may need it one day in the future lol my house looks the same as yours! Glad im not alone!

Jenn I completely agree about the recipes, I can never stick to the time the card says and always extra garlic 👌☺️. Jackson is at such a great age, every day he’s learning or showing you something new and his laugh is infectious. Both my babies were 16 months old when I introduced a pillow first, then the blanket at 17 months ready for transition to a cot bed.

Tim, suggestion for the garage shelving I use with wire rack shelves. Get enough sections of 1X4 wood to span the length of the wall. Find the studs in the wall a secure the 1 x 4 to the studs at the height you want using wood screws long enough to go into the studs. Get some plastic straps to fasten the wire rack to the 1 x 4 as needed. I do about a foot on the straps. Position you down supports so they align to the studs and fasten with wood screws long enough to go in the stud. If you want to be fancy you can paint the 1 X 4s the same dark grey as the garage walls. It will hold what you need.

We live in chaos too, and our little is now 6 1/2. You’re so right, it does get harder to do things, and probably even more so now that Jackson is mobile! I have said to a few friends with kids younger than ours, “It doesn’t get easier, it just gets different.” At least for the first few years!

A simple way to improve the strength of the garage shelves is to use suspension to support the front edge. Redo the wall anchors, then use lag bolts in the roof joists and some galvanized steel wire running to the top shelf and each next shelf. Wires on each end and in the middle would be fairly cheap, simple to install, and not too obstructive. Good luck with the projects!

Disclaimer I don’t know if this is correct but our pediatrician gave us the okay: I gave my son a blanket when he learned how to rip it off his face. We would play peek a boo every night and teach him how. I would say about 12 months old we let him sleep with one small light baby blanket.

I admire that you're willing to show the reality of lives of RUclipsrs. Most people dont realize that we only see what you guys wish us to see for privacy reasons and that not everything is glamorous. I was going to recommend maybe if you dont want to rent a storage container that you put in a small shed for the baby items you may use again but hearing about the Hoa that might not be feasible. I do hope you have luck having another baby when you're ready.

My kids all had blankets by the time they were a year old. I felt it was safe when they could easily move themselves around & pull a blanket off their head when playing peek a boo. It’s totally what you guys feel comfortable with as parents too, not what all the books & websites say. Trust your instincts. 😉 Also my husband acts the same way when I start listing all the house things. I’m ready to go and he wants to nap. We’ve been in our house for almost a decade and ours is chaos too!

As an answer to your blanket question all 3 of my kids have had blankets since day one. We use only the breathable muslin until they’re able to take the blanket off their face efficiently (usually around 6ish months) and then from there we use a thin fuzzy blanket because we keep the house pretty cold at night time. None of them have ever liked swaddling.

I have three kids. And I put a blanket in the crib a different stages. It’s important to make sure you are comfortable. My kids are got blankets between 1-2yrs old. But they were just little receiving blankets. My youngest just got a fleece blanket and a pillow and she is 21 months. It also depends on where they are stage wise. But the biggest thing I can say is make sure you are comfortable.
