Johnny was the most authentic rockstar of all time. The dude knew what he believed in and stood by his beliefs. That is to be respected. Unlike most 'famous people', he was never out to impress people or win them to 'his side'. He just spoke the truth when asked and let it be known how he felt about things. Some people did not like this about him, but in my opinion, he was (and still is) the example of how every famous person should be. He was THE man. ..Musically speaking, he is probably the most important guitar player ever. No, he wasn't the best player, technically speaking. But I truly believe he was the most important...ever. Why? Because he showed every little kid in the world that you did not have to be a technical wizard or virtuoso with your guitar to become a successful musician. He knew that the song was king...and he played to serve the song. More people picked up the guitar because of him because they could play along with the Ramones' songs. I'll say it again, Johnny Ramone was THE freaking man. It really sucks that he died so young. The dude should be sitting at home and chilling...getting to enjoy his retirement..just like he wanted to. Much respect, Johnny.
YES! What you said!!! Johnny Ramone is by far other than Jimmy Page one of the most influential guitarists of the 20th century. You might not be influenced by him, but your guitar heros are.
September 25, 2016 Haha! at 5:54. Interviewer: You dont like rap? Johnny Ramone: No its disgusting. Interviewer: Why? Johnny Ramone: Because its garbage! Johnny was definitely my favorite Ramone, due to his straight-forward and disciplined nature. Thank you for putting this on YT.
Rap is crap. Johnny was right. I really liked it when he said, 'they don't even have to learn an instrument', as that is the line I always use when I argue with people and tell them that rappers aren't musicians. It is even worse than them not being able to play an instrument. Think about it...they don't even have to sing in key. They don't have to understand pitch, melody or singing in key...Nothing. They don't have to write the music...a DJ does that for them. Or even worse, a DJ rips other ppl's music off, sampling it for their so-called, 'beat'. Rap music is disgusting.
@@michaelr.4878 Depends what kind of stuff your talking about. old rap like public enemy was like poetry with the political statements that it made. But if your talking modern mainstream shit that just talks about bitches and bling then i agree.
Yeah dude...of all of the musicians that passed away, he is the one that hit me the most. I usually think/say, 'that is sad..damn..too young'. But when he died, it shook me up. I respected that dude SO much. He was THE example of what every rockstar or famous person should be and how they should act/behave. He didn't try to impress people or try to make them like him. He was himself and spoke the truth.
"Kurt Cobain, you wanna shoot yourself? Go ahead. He had everything." I love Johnny's outlook on life. He is misunderstood when he says anything like that. Another point on that to be made is that if you go that far to the top (so quickly), where are you to go then? The world is yours. Only way to go is down, really. John has a very logical - and pragmatic - approach to life.
Hey guys, can I translate your interview to Spanish? I'm gonna give credits to ya! It would be interesting for my suscribers as they love to watch those interviews. Thanks in advance. And also was this interview from 1995 or 1996? Cheers.
Hi Wildchild, thanks for reaching out. Spanish translation is easily available. @Toaztedmedia It is not as necessary as I'm a native Spanish speaker and I do know how to translate it. Plus it is not 100% accurate because it is not translated by someone. But hey, thanks for the response, I appreciate it. Cheers.

Love Johnny and The Ramones, but I don’t understand his position on rap. Like I get not enjoying it, but saying anybody can do it? Lol #DeeDeeKing Plus by that logic his brand of rock is invalid because anybody can pick up and start doing it. That was part of the magic of the Ramones’ inception: they couldn’t really play and were learning as they went, so they wrote within their bounds and stuck to what worked and they could actually do. So I think that was a substantial oversight in his appraisal of rap.
Try playing their cover of Surfin' Bird front to back the same way Johnny did. Same non-stop downstrokes, same bar chord position, same aggression throughout. Your only breaks are the 2 times the guitar backs out, and they're brief. That shit's not easy to do.
We need Johnny’s level brutal honesty today. It’s so grim these days

Johnny would be disgusted with how much worse rap has only gotten.

True, but I rarely see bands do Ramones songs right. 8th notes and downstrokes at a constant, full speed ahead pace is very hard.

Kurt shot himself ?
Apparently that's what happened
his wife allegedly didn't shoot him
