Something goes wrong with your EV..but the nearest service center is 300 miles away..your AAA only covers the first 100 miles.
For those that are unaware, fuel is taxed significantly and that is used for many things such as infrastructure maintenance. If we do genuinely move away from fossil fuels in cars, that tax system no longer works so something else needs to be created to tax for the use of roads (and maintain them) - it actually makes sense for those that use trhe roads most to pay the most for their upkeep, this is how it works now for fossil fuel cars. Gasoline cars get taxed for road use now as they are proportionally taxed for the fuel to travel over those roads. EVs are almost in a golden age right now as they aren't paying their proportional tax for road use. Mark my words - there will be a road use tax eventually for EVs that will work by uploading your mileage somewhere so it can be taxed similar to how gas cars get taxed for road use.
People are so dumb..the savings are charging at home not at the superchargers. I owned a gas car and payed $400 a month for fuel. Now with my model 3 I pay around $62 a month charging at home
And my prius had a 3200 mile month. $162. Iowa subsides 15% gasohol shamelessly low point was $2.24 gal// 10 minutes ago $2.70 gallon. Eletricity up to $0.22 kilowatt.
@Dannysoutherner Not at all i live in California and have drove to Las vegas, Arizona and San Francisco. The point is i charge from home 98% of the time. My day to day driving is around 85 miles round trip. So I do more driving than the national average
As batteries become cheaper, EV have been approaching gas vehicle sizes. Soon it will be cheaper to purchase and far cheaper to own an EV than gas and only rich eccentrics will still have gas cars. Internal combustion is the devils Rube Goldberg machine. Electric is extremely simple, far more efficient, has far higher power and torque density in both weight and volume and is so very very much more controllable you can change torque thousands of times faster than gas, yet even put spent fuel back in the tank or even just get towed while breaking to fast charge and EV even those without L3 charging.

I cannot believe these people, I'd rather be at a gas station for 5 minutes and then get going on my ways for another 410 Miles per fill up. Staying at a Charger for about 30 Minutes upwards to 100 Minutes is beyond me. Also, the dangers of having an EV that will just catch fire and burn to the ground, I have seen too many of them and that is why I will not at all consider getting into the market of such product. I love my Gas/E-85 Ethanol vehicle, and I'll just keep it, forget the Electric cars they are dangerous.
I own a Tesla and would advise those who don't own their own home to steer clear of electric cars bc the charging of said vehicle becomes a chore as opposed to being able to drive it home and charge at your house every night. Having said this, the cost to charge this vehicle is insignificant compared to an ICE vehicle's cost to fuel up. The last time I had to use a supercharger, my cost was 12 dollars for a full charge.
Exactly. I have a Model Y and echo the same advice. I'm happy to see a diversity of options for people's lifestlyes all the same. Though I think the safest option today is a plug in hybrid.
In SC they charge me an incredible amount of TAX on my little EV that only cost about $30K. The annual property tax on my little EV is comparable to an ICE car that cost about $90K-100K. SC adds TAX at the GAS pump that I do not visit, so they get more than enough from me at the TAX office. I don't drive enough miles each year to even save any money by owning an EV and always charging at HOME. They are basically raping me as I only drive about 7,000 miles each year. I would need to drive about 20,000+ miles each year to save any money. My ICE car was costing me about $150 / month in gas, but in 3 years my taxes have been $1000, $781, and $650 on my EV. That is a rip-off IMO. I hope Trump has a "come-to-Jesus-Meeting" with them to stop taxing me so much.
@@Dannysoutherner Nope. I had no idea that they would possibly charge that much for such a cheap car. My Cadillac SUV was never even close to that much when I bought it new, and it cost TWICE what my EV cost.
I don't know a single person who has said "Saving the environment" was their reason for buying an EV, its always just for lower costs, also whats woke about EVs? The largest EV manufacture literally voted Republican and donated to that party.
Stupid.. most of us got an EV.. Not for the environment...we save because we charge at home.. and some of us are trying to go energy independent and not dependent on government for our fuel. And we do pay taxes every time we renew our tags.. it's hundreds of dollars... And remember the people who are "woke" are trying to kill Tesla. Most of us are conservative you idiot..
My aunt rented an EV, not by choice, had to fly in due to death, she fell on the snow/ice trying to charge it, as these charging stations don't have roofs over them and no one scrapes the ice/snow away, she broke bones in her face and pelvis and needed 4 surgeries. Also these charging stations don't carry the same insurance to help you like traditional gas stations do and no one found her for 2 hours as she couldn't get up.
Same in the UK. I purchased my ev 3 years ago the vehicle had zero road tax. As from 1st april 2025 i will now havevto pay £190. From zero. The cost of charging outside of home is mad. Going back to deisel
@ Why hasn't it been spent???? Oh thats right, they will use the money to fund other pet projects like how they funded pensions with covid relief money right???
I understand why we have tax on our gasoline and I understand that as EVs and hybrids lower that tax revenue it cuts into the government's pockets. But there's a simple solution that doesn't require GPS tracking of your miles or taxing you out the charging station. They need to drop all of those taxes and tax tires.
Depends on how you drive. I never spend time waiting for my car to charge, I just do it at home. Takes a few seconds once a week and that’s it. The car charges while I sleep. It has saved me a ton of time at the pump. If someone has to publicly charge or drives long distances all the time, waiting 15 minutes for it to charge all the time would definitely be annoying. An EV wouldn’t be for them. EV’s definitely aren’t for everyone. I rarely drive over 250 miles a day, so I almost never publicly charge and it’s worked great for me.
I got an EV and I have home solar. It made sense for me. I just don’t like the charge times for road trips. With my gas car, I can go 3-4 hours and stop ~15. With my EV it’s 2-3 hours for 20-25 minutes. Not great for a fast paced traveler like me, but I love waking up to a charged car every morning for the normal 95% of driving I do.
EVs still require fossil fuel to run the generator to provide electric currents! So you are still using fossil fuel indirectly, not only that gigantic battery packs are polluted more when discarded!
Imagine you need to evacuate due to a hurricane like Florida just had, and you need to sit there and charge while the roads are super congested with cars moving at a slow pace. Meanwhile, that hurricane keeps getting closer to you while you spend 1+hrs sitting there waiting for it to charge. While a person in a regular car can just fill up in minutes and go.
Never stopping at a gas station again feels great she says. Meanwhile sitting at a charging station for an hour or so is ok. You just can't make that kind of stupidity up.
ALL our charging stations in Canada are on line and usable, BUT if they're not Hydro they can charge anything they want. Tesla chargers are 2.5 times the Hydro, and in additon, a lot of chargers are very slow (all the free ones). Some are so bad you'd have to camp there for a day and a half to get your 80%. Maybe. The chargers at the highway gas statioins (Petro-Canada) are fast, and you pay three times the money for that.
This misses the point. My Tesla has 195,000 miles and 95% of my charging is done at home with my solar panels. You should always try to charge a home the superchargers are only for road trips.
The root of the problem??? People want their electric vehicles... but they want the taxpayers to help pay for the cost of the vehicle, AND the cost of the charging station...
Wasn't long before the government and electric companies got wise to people getting free transportation. NJ just instituted a new "registration fee" for EV vehicles per year which might as well be a fine at this point given how expensive it is, and the local utilities are putting an end to credits for solar power production from homes that put back into the grid.
Here in Minnesota we also have an expensive registration fee of a couple hundred dollars on new EV, however I consistently pay 1/3 the fuel cost per mile saving me more than a thousand each year even considering the tax. Also I’ve got more acceleration than 97% of vehicles on the road, with completely independent front and rear drive systems something you have to pay a premium price for in a gas vehicle and it still won’t give the level of control electrics have.
Some things are really great in concept but in reality they just aren't practical. Drill baby drill!!! As President Trump said that liquid gold under our feet will turn this country around!!!
I bought 2006 Toyota Prius for $4.500 bucks 4 years ago in 4 years I have done nothing and I get 45 mpg 400 plus miles in one tank. Unbelievable how some people are so dumb.
Gas tax was supposed to be for road construction and repair. I think a charging-station tax to help with road construction and repair is in order. After all, we use the same roads.
The states will have to make up for lost gas taxes as more ev's hit the road. The taxes on charging ev's will go up and up just like they do on fossil fuels.

'Never stopping at a gas station feels great' until your anxiety level goes up.looking for a charging station on rt19 at night.
You have to take a.pee real bad but your embaressed to use their restroom without buying anything.
Your driving in sub zero temperatures with the cabin heating on..and forget to notice your battery draining very fast.
Something goes wrong with your EV..but the nearest service center is 300 miles away..your AAA only covers the first 100 miles.
Did not stop a gas station. I hope you find a charging station.
I wonder where that lady would charge her truck in the middle of Wyoming?🤔
She'll have a hell of a time in Arkansas too
Winter performance is poor. I would stay near a big city and cash in the savings for a gas rental and plane tickets.
@ 🤣😂🤣
EV drivers pay hundreds of dollars when renewing their tags...
@MrReyGuy I pay thousands of dollars in taxes on fuel per year where I live. It's taxed at 33%
Tax everything!
Good for you. Never go out of town I am guessing.
@Dannysoutherner Not at all i live in California and have drove to Las vegas, Arizona and San Francisco. The point is i charge from home 98% of the time. My day to day driving is around 85 miles round trip. So I do more driving than the national average
Exactly. People are so stupid.
@@Dannysoutherner We have two vehicles. The ICE one is for long trips but the F150 Lighnting is our daily driver. So cheap to charge at home.
I just could not force myself into an ev let alone a tesla, ill stick with my fuel ran honda civic..
Thats great because nobody is forcing you to drive one.
He can save on gas, I’ll save on time at the gas station 😂
Most ev owners never use charging stations because they can charge their car at home overnight.
You’re not paying for gas ⛽️ anymore but you still have to stop ✋🛑 to charged up your electric ⚡️ vehicle 🚗 depending on vehicle cost you to buy as low as $50,000 dollars 💵 to $75,000 a car or a bigger vehicle 🚗 a truck 🛻 $100,000 to $150,000 an maintenance 👨🔧 I saved $90,000 dollars 💵 in 19 years not driving a car 🚙 cost me one ☝️ time in three years so far $1,200 dollars 💵 I’m cyclist 🚴♂️🚴♀️🚴 brought a racer bike 🚲 I get in an out of traffic can threw it in front of the bus 🚌 go where I gotta go best way to get around
IF someone hasn't cut the power cord off to get the copper. IF there isn't a blackout. IF your city isn't on fire....Who paid for this commercial, by the way?
It costs more to charge an electric vehicle than filling up a semi!!!
I never find stopping at a gas station to be that big of a deal.
Who would have foreseen this, me 5 years ago !
You knew the tax going in, didn't you?
@@Dannysoutherner Nope. I had no idea that they would possibly charge that much for such a cheap car. My Cadillac SUV was never even close to that much when I bought it new, and it cost TWICE what my EV cost.
"Never having to stop at a gas station again feels great!?" How stupid can someone be? She is stopped a charging station for much longer.
Federal funding = taxpayers paying for higher prices to travel. Getting screwed in both ends.
Wait untill the winter storms show up, or you could just search EV winter horror stories.
Dont forget to have blankets in the car.
I love sitting in my car for 20+ minutes waiting to charge. Man I love Kool-Aid
I see lots of virtue signaling...
No state tax at home? Are you people really that stupid? You see, the cost of electricity will continue to increase and they tax that.
Jesus Christ and extra .3 cents😥. It’s literally cheaper to drive gas at that point.
All these woke people who they they are charging their cars. saving money and saving the planet at the same time.
@ thanks for your comment. You are the idiot. 👏
Someday they'll get electric vehicles right?, but it won't be in my lifetime and I won't be a part of this eco disaster from the greenies
But what happens when all charging stations are full? Waitng hours to charge. NO THANKS.
Paying $70,000.00 for vehicle, another $2,000.00 maintenance , electricity , tax per miles and wait 2hours or more to charge feels real good !
Same in the UK. I purchased my ev 3 years ago the vehicle had zero road tax. As from 1st april 2025 i will now havevto pay £190. From zero. The cost of charging outside of home is mad. Going back to deisel
Never having to wait for 2 hours so I have enough power to get home feels great.
What happened to all those super charging stations that Biden/Harris promised to build with billions of taxpayer money?
According to Pete Buttipeg they built 8!! Yes 8.
That's allocated money. It hasn't been spent yet. Do your own research.
@ Why hasn't it been spent???? Oh thats right, they will use the money to fund other pet projects like how they funded pensions with covid relief money right???
You got 8. How many do you need?
@@AC-io8qs How long does it take to build a charging station?
I understand why we have tax on our gasoline and I understand that as EVs and hybrids lower that tax revenue it cuts into the government's pockets. But there's a simple solution that doesn't require GPS tracking of your miles or taxing you out the charging station. They need to drop all of those taxes and tax tires.
With my busy lifestyle, pumping my car with gas is already a chore.... if i had to wait and charge like them, I'd probably go berserk...
if going to a gas station is a chore why not just install a gas pump in your driveway?
@RoughNeckDelta I'm not one of those lucky people who can have the luxury of having their own driveway
@battery_wattage I can't imagine driving 8hrs with only a 15 min rest. 30 mins every 2.5-3 hrs sounds a lot more pleasant to me
That was one of the most ignorant things I heard in a minute or two...... "Never stop at a gas station etc."
This is such a pipe dream that’s why car rental companies don’t have them anymore. Nobody wants to sit there and wait while your battery charges up.
Hey, you’re ICE’ing that charging station 😆
EVs still require fossil fuel to run the generator to provide electric currents! So you are still using fossil fuel indirectly, not only that gigantic battery packs are polluted more when discarded!
I haven’t seen bathrooms at EV charging places. She still has to go to gas stations when traveling to use restroom and get snacks
Spending less on gas, but extra on the car make no financial sense to me.
What happens when there's a line?
“Never having to stop at a gas a station again” ….. scary dumb!! Proof we are doomed as a society.
While she’s sitting at the charging station for 30 minutes 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Hahahahaha they all got scammed! 5 min to fill up my truck. An hr to get enough juice to get home. Weighing my options here 🤔lol
I’ve always loved how in the US high quality cannabis was colloquially known as hydro just like government electric power in Canada.
This misses the point. My Tesla has 195,000 miles and 95% of my charging is done at home with my solar panels. You should always try to charge a home the superchargers are only for road trips.
The lady in the Etruck hit the nail on the head: less gastax dollars. Anyone that did not see this coming is dumb.
left toids
WHEN Colorado started losing money at the pump for EVs and to fuel efficient vehicles ...they made up the tax loss by upping registration fees...
Why should the federal government have to pay for the charging stations?
13.75 per gallon thats how much is costing to charge electric crap
It’s $.03 a KwH… for now. It won’t be long before they figure out a way to triple that. You’re trading a gas tax for a kilowatt tax.
we did try to tell them owners that taxes would be coming.
Is going up will be more expensive very soon!!!
I like my 94 Silverado !
Trust me, the bureaucracy will figure out some way to tax the charging that you do at home...😊
Why are our taxes being used to build Tesla infrastructure? Doesn’t Elon have enough money?
Wait till she has to sit and wait for someone else using the charger
The root of the problem??? People want their electric vehicles... but they want the taxpayers to help pay for the cost of the vehicle, AND the cost of the charging station...
Notice how the chargers are a distance away from any building ?? I wonder why ??
It's not fuel.... it's power..... electrical power.
As soon as they figure out how to tax you charging your vehicle at home, I guarantee you they will
Wasn't long before the government and electric companies got wise to people getting free transportation.
EV drivers have to pay taxes for road maintenance every time they renew their taxes.. and no it is not cheap
The government needs to be more worried about changing those stupid town names. Make it something American.
Stop at gas station, 10 minutes, stop at EV charger-3 hours, go figure.
Waiting 1 hour to charge your car carjackwrs dream
Some things are really great in concept but in reality they just aren't practical. Drill baby drill!!! As President Trump said that liquid gold under our feet will turn this country around!!!
I bought 2006 Toyota Prius for $4.500 bucks 4 years ago in 4 years I have done nothing and I get 45 mpg 400 plus miles in one tank. Unbelievable how some people are so dumb.
THANKS but NO THANKS!!
Gas tax was supposed to be for road construction and repair. I think a charging-station tax to help with road construction and repair is in order. After all, we use the same roads.
Takes only a few seconds to plug in at home
Since cold temperatures greatly effect batteries, I’m not sure Wisconsin is the best area to own one.
The states will have to make up for lost gas taxes as more ev's hit the road. The taxes on charging ev's will go up and up just like they do on fossil fuels.
A per mile driven tax added to your registration is coming, plus I wouldn't have one in my garage....and my time is valuable
She's as bright as a 10 watt bulb.
