Net and cloth "hammocks" are used by sailors ancient and modern, for tools, foodstuffs and items which, in their nets, won't rub together, fall and break, snap off, clank, etc. Some can be hung temporarily for the move, then items placed back on shelves once parked :) The forces of constant movement generated by travel shouldn't be underestimated...
That is a GREAT tip (noted for future). I'm sure once we hit the road for the first time, we'll need to make some adjustments. We can only anticipate so much ;)
