You've really won the criminal game when people start saying you can teleport. This global roving rascal needs an adventure series. WAS he American? Should the American's stand up for him and repatriate him to justice over there, just in case? Con artists burn their bridges, so they can't even come from anywhere real. But the suicide attempt and what I'm assuming was a dangerous robbery make the whole story a good bit darker. I'd prefer a more comic reimagining.
Why the fuck would he be American? He claims he's from Tamenrast, it's a big state in the country Algeria. Algeria has in its southern states per example Tamenrast, a tribe called Twareg, and they speak saharian amazigh language and their writing system is called tifinagh. Before 60's algeria was conquered by France, the independence only happened in 1962.
Of course if we were visited by an inter-dimensional interloper, we would expect their side to plant evidence in an effort to try and cover up what actually happened when the story gained traction 40+ years later
Given that the story insinuates that The Man From Taured entered our timeline by mistake, I feel the Tauredians would be unable to know about the matter, let alone address it.
I guess so; but then one would expect them to plant the evidence where it could be found in the same century as the initial event, to prevent the story from traveling too much.
Yes, clearly. Similar to how Barrack Obama’s parents planted fake stories of them having a baby in Hawaii, only as the first step to their larger goals.
I'd heard this story before. I'd heard that it was completely fictionalized, and that there was NO truth to it. I'd heard that two different books made reference to the case, but that neither book gave a source, and that the Japanese government had no record of it happening, meaning that it was probably just an urban legend. I didn't actually know it was based on a true story.
Even if it is somewhat sad that the compelling story and mystery has been explained, it is is simultaneously oddly satisfying to hear the full explanation of the background to the famous urban legend.

I love that this is found to have a logical explanation. Once again this proves you can't believe everything thats presented as truth. Always do your own investigating. A little due diligence goes a long way. I always think of the game 'telephone'. How a simple story can begin but within telling it to several people can lose its original meaning and morph into something barely reminiscent of its beginnings.
Except when/whilst having one of those experiences personally, being aware of it at the time and being able to rule out all “logical” possibilities at the same time. Imagine having an experience and being fully cognitive of it at the time. I’ve had about 7 - all different, some more acute and some more obvious or in your face - though the “Entity Car” I’ll call it was the standout- because it was the only one of them that occurred whilst in the presence of a friend who was confused at exactly what had occurred. And there’s not much that I find all together strange in this world. Except perhaps grown men wearing face diapers pretending you can catch a virus that’s not actually deadly or threatening in any way shape or form- and letting them d.e.w jab their kids for an apparent I.d or passport. Whilst the western kakastocracy remain exempt and can no longer hide their glee. Now that’s fkn weird.
In my case, I had been thinking that guy was a Russian agent sent against Japan for data but after realizing he would be caught, he escaped out of Japan to Russia by doing such trick. Edit : It can be possible that he was a USSR agent and since, in the 1950s, Japan was having a series of capitalism installment by the US, he was sent to Tokyo but in the fear of being caught, he used his plan B to escape from there and not getting caught.
Some minor critique on the video: Please keep the volume levels somewhat consistent. It changes from very loud to about one third that volume in the video multiple time, which forces me to adjust the volume every minute.
Not to be a complainer but straight up stealing Bedtime Stories thumbnail is pretty unethical. They employ an artist to create original images for all of their stuff. Just sayin.
Really interesting. You do have some serious sound issues, though. When you're on the mic, you're barely audible. The viewer has to sit on the volume button to hear the mic bits and not get blown out of their chair on the voice-over parts.
Your video was overall good and interesting. Just please work on making the background music actually sound like it's in the background. I have a hard time focusing on speech when there is loud overlapping noise, so it was kind of hard to hear all that was being said. I also couldn't find a good volume balance because either the music was too loud or the dialogue was too quiet. That's my only criticism. Keep up the good work.

Wow, thank you for this! Years ago I heard the story of the mystery man from Taured. I thought it was a cool story but couldn't believe that it was true. Some people told me that it really happened and others said it was just an urban legend. Those that believed it really happened were big into the parallel universe explanation. But now after all these years I know the truth! So the guy really did exist but he was a con man who made up the nation of Taured! It's nice to finally have a mystery solved.
Makes enough sense that something more down to earth ended up subject to a game of telephone getting passed from one person to the next until news about a conman traveling on a fabricated passport turned into a story about a universal dimension hopper. It would be interesting to see a deep dive on how the story got passed around and when and how details got changed to morph it into the version that's so popular online these days.
That’s actually the fun bit about Bible stories, since Jesus and all his disciples were illiterate, all the stories were created hundreds of years after they allegedly lived. Which can be seen first-hand in the Bible, as one book (the first compiled) has Jesus mainly acting like a normal fellow. By the time you reach the fourth written chronologically, Jesus has all sorts of superpowers and is no stranger to flaunting them. Such as walking through Jerusalem with a battalion of dead saints (i.e. zombies).
@@shenanitims4006 Luke was a doctor, and Matthew was a tax collector, and so both had to have been literate. There are also Roman records of groups of people within those decades (not hundreds of years later) that loosely match with some of the biblical details, suggesting that the Gospels were originally written within those first few decades
@@Iareawsome Luke and Matthew are ALLEGED to be those things. There were no Roman records of them, or even of the census, which happened in 9bc, or of comet Halley, which happened some time in the early ad. It's very clearly a conflation of events written a number of years later and collated into a cohesive narrative. I'm Christian, born and raised, but God gave me a brain and it would be a sin NOT to use it.
@@Iareawsome Yeah, I believe the first was written either within a hundred or two hundred years. Of course, there’s no record of any of the disciples, their books are based of letters passed around by early Christian as talking about what they believed the stories to be. This would also explain why the V disciples are strangely absent from each other’s stories.

This a great video. This story has fascinated me for years. A few things though 1. Your audio levels are all over the place, you gotta work on that and 2. Why didn’t you credit the Bedtime Stories channel when using the their thumbnail image at the end of the video? An artist painted that image and even if you did get permission to use it, you should still credit them for the image since it didn’t come from your channel originally… otherwise great job!
1) your sound mixing needs a good sorting out, your music's often too loud (usually when showing stills) and your voice, when using footage of yourself at the table, is too quiet 2) not sure how OK i am with you jacking someone else's thumbnail 3) BUT the video itself was really informative, thanks for this.
I really wish these videos had no music :( or at the very least that the music was much quieter than the voice. I’ve got sensory issues and instead of being able to just focus on the story I have to focus on separating the music and the voice 😥

Thank you for the 1960's fact, that I did not know. It pleases me because I always thought 'false documents,' and a lot of luck/bribery. Knowing the time period makes this less 'and luck,' more ' and no mass-communication.' Knowing the whole story just makes it hilarious, considering the failures to stop an obviously false passport.

Interesting video. If I had one constructive criticism it would be to keep your sound levels even. I had to constantly turn up and turn down the volume
I know I’m rather late but I really enjoyed this! A tip, give the video more of a intro rather than tossing us into to the story. It’ll help viewers process the video and warm up to your style

Big time embellishments are better than small time though
But this right here raises the question.. How many stories in history are actually true? First one that comes to mind is the Bible.
@@thatsarock well where something has multiple primary sources and collorating evidences and witnesses would be a big determination. Video and pics today are good at documenting events but they should be from multiple sources and angles
But thanks to this Urban legends in time they become similar to folk fairy tale stories... how would we know why plato made atlantis? could be a similar place that actually got sunk from the rising waters or a Metaphor understood by people of his time?,
Is Robin hood a myth or a real man that is made a talk of a town before becoming a legend, why stories of europe had princess locked in towers and brave khights to king arthur & Siegfried?

(plus Ancient Rome has been using elephants from india/south asia)
To me the story of the Man from Taurid is very interesting that it has slowly become it's Own Urban Legend while in reality started out as a harmless con to avoid/skipping certain fees & documentation of the time.
My favorite story is the Origin of the Bavarian Fire Drill Guy is Wilhelm Voigt who made an idea to impersonate a Captain (back then when Prussia existed/Imperial German Empire half poland that was so militaristic) fooled and con some lower rank soldiers to occupy a city hall & arrest the tresurer & it's Mayor while he leaves the soldiers/arrest his victims/no calls to local authorities.
while He stole the rest of the money and suddenly tuns awy to leave back to his civilian form as the Prussian military/police made their investigation.
the whole German Public and even the Great Britain was amused after he was caught that made headlines & was even Paroled by Kaiser wilhelm 2 for the astounding reverence of his military respect to a higher up but imagine if he was not caught and kept going on with his tirade as the mysterious Captain guy he won't have/possible have his statue today but be an urban legend

The best solution I've listened or read about this case, with believable and tangible evidence to back it up. Thanks for the info.
Of course if we were visited by an inter-dimensional interloper, we would expect their side to plant evidence in an effort to try and cover up what actually happened when the story gained traction 40+ years later
idk, I'd expect them to not really give a shit.
I like the way you did the credits in the info section. Very nice.
Thank you :)

If a story of this nature could morph so drastically within 60 years, I can only imagine what some Biblical stories started out as.
I'm Christian, born and raised, but God gave me a brain and it would be a sin NOT to use it.
Hey bro you dropped your fedora.
