Hi David, Thank you for your response. Your video is really helpful, as I'm new to this material. I'm trying to figure out the following problem using your video as a guide and it's not working: Minimize: 8𝑥1 + 6𝑥2 S.T. 4𝑥1 + 2𝑥2 ≥ 20 −6𝑥1 + 4𝑥2 ≤ 12 𝑥1 + 𝑥2 ≥ 6 𝑥1 ≥ 0,𝑥2 ≥ 0 Not sure where I went wrong. The coordinates for X1 and X2 came out right at 2,6...nothing else worked after that. Any insight you can provide would be helpful. Thank you in advance.
My excel sheet is not showing those Material and labour values on the side of the graph..! Hiw can i edit that thing. By the way, the lesson is amazingly good.
When multiplying matrices [rows x columns] you can't multiply a [3 x 2] times a [1 x 2] ... the inner numbers must be the same. Transposing makes it a [3 x 2] times a [2 x 1] which makes the inner numbers the same and the answer is a [3 x 1] (outer numbers) which is what we wanted.
At 8:11 when I enter the formula the value for X2 does not appear, only the value for X1 even though I have both cells highlighted when entering. When I try to drag down the value from X1 to the X2 cell i get a #NUM! Please help! Thank you
whenever i am multiplying ..it is only displaying the value for x1 not x2....why this happening....i have selected both cell but it only dispaly value of x1 not x2..plz help
+Rajani Gupta Make sure you hold down the control key + the shift key, then press the enter key after you type the formula when you are doing matrices.
sIR , I HAVE ONE DOUBT . HOW WE CAN DRAW STRAIGHT LINE IN THAT GRAPH. I.E. (X>=125, Y IS INFINITE.THAN WHAT WE SUPPOSE TO DO .)YES ITS INTERSECT THE X AXES. BUT I WANT TO SHOW THAT LINE IN SCATTER PLOT
Why is that all the time they like to use simple information for their illustration. Why not use a more detailed project or business information to do the illustration so that listeners can fully understand and apply it. Thanks anyway for the video
That has only one corner point in the feasible region at -17.3333 and 76 with a value of 653.3. Just set up up like the video and solve with solver (make sure you uncheck the little box that says "Make unconstrained Variables Non-Negative") . It's hard to graph because there is only one corner point at x1 = -17.333 and x2 = 76, and z = 653.333. If you can't have negative numbers there is no solution. Are you sure you set it up correctly?
Thank you. How would you plot a minimization problem graphically? I'm struggling with this. Thank you in advance.
Using the example in the video, It would be the same graph, you would just look for the point which minimizes Z.
Hi David,
Thank you for your response. Your video is really helpful, as I'm new to this material.
I'm trying to figure out the following problem using your video as a guide and it's not working:
Minimize: 8𝑥1 + 6𝑥2
S.T.
4𝑥1 + 2𝑥2 ≥ 20
−6𝑥1 + 4𝑥2 ≤ 12
𝑥1 + 𝑥2 ≥ 6
𝑥1 ≥ 0,𝑥2 ≥ 0
Not sure where I went wrong. The coordinates for X1 and X2 came out right at 2,6...nothing else worked after that. Any insight you can provide would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Thank you sir .... You touch deep ........you touched the right .... I adore
You're welcome, glad it helped!
Good job 👏
Thanks!
Thanks David Johnk, your tutor is helpful
Your welcome!
Great!
Thanks for the positive feedback!
Very interesting and of course very helpfull.

Hi nikola i have a question at 8:06 he says do not press enter but get a hold of ctrl +shift +enter?
makasi bang, gege bet
Hi, In this question, budget constraints were a combination of 2 conditions - Material
Never done a problem like that .... your on your own there. I have some ideas, but don't want to steer you in the wrong direction.
OK
why did u do the transpose of those two numbers at the bottom? x1 and x2 below the box

You have to use Control+Shift+Enter at the same time. Not just enter after you put in the formula.
@@DavidJohnk i am doing it i am still getting #NAME? pleasehelp

Thankyou Sir..This video is realy very nice...:)
+Rajani Gupta Your welcome, I'm glad it was useful to you!
Wonderful ! thanks a lot.

Thanks!

Can you do a problem where x1 =0
If x1 = 0 in the above problem your feasible points would be 0, 10 and 0, 12. You would use those for your corner points.
BUT HOW WE CAN DRAW STRAIGHT LINE IN THAT GRAPH. I.E. (X>=125, Y IS INFINITE.THAN WHAT WE SUPPOSE TO DO .)

Harsh Bharat Chovatiya just do one point x=125 y=0 and another x=125 y=? Make that last one however high you need your graph.
Thank you so much sir . i got it.
you are welcome glad it helped
Thank you very much.

Hi Solomon. I have some other videos which use real-life problems, do a search for them. Hope that helps!
X1 $50 X2 $20
m1 0.5 0
Are you maximizing or minimizing? Also, are x1 and x2 >= 0?
Maximizing

Glad it helped!!
It just wasted my 14mins, not applicable for for dynamic problems
cry about it
