Let's face it, it's gonna take something quite special to avoid the drop. We will fully deserve that drop too. Meanwhile Captain Smith keeps giving calm messages from the cockpit as our plane, one engine on fire carries on its descent.
I honestly think this game was crying out for Hourihane to come on off the bench when we was playing against 10 men and looking for goals. Do not rate Nakamba at all tbh. Unfortunately I think Dean Smith cost us this one.
Even though it’s a poor result everyone shouldn’t be getting so sad and upset by it. We’ve got to a cup final and we’re still outside the relegation zone. Yes it’s disappointing but we shouldn’t be overreacting to this result. UTV 🍀🍀🍀🍀🇮🇪

Outrageous from DS to drop Grealish deeper against Bournemouth after Trezeguet came on. Really poor management
I remember earlier in the season I used to post in fan groups that these games against some of the big teams you have to pick up points, the amount of hate I got was crazy. Common theme was “these games don’t define our season” well, looks like it will now
Im fearing for us lads. I agree with you view Dan when you said about "just play average sometimes!" These loses turn into draws. The amount of points we have thrown away- 2nil up at Arsenal, 1nil up at spurs, giving teams goals. Other than the City game i cant think off the top of my head a decent goal scored against us!! Most of them are avoidable. We need to buck up or i really feel we are going down.
Best Villa podcast out there. Good chemistry between Dan the man Bardell and Tom thats very cold Julian, actual football talk, no paper being pulled out of a fucking cup and no patreon begging....yet lol. Keep it up lads. Tom up your kit game mate.
Mings looked a bit rattled at times in that game. Definitely wasn't himself.
Deano would have wanted a replacement before Letting Chester go, but Chester wanted game time for the Euros. why did we leave it so late to sanction that move though.
Speaking of the silly decisions why did we persist with 3 CBs when Bournemouth went down to 10? We lost the midfield battle and had no service to the forwards. A big deficiency of the Jan transfer plan was neglecting the need for additional creativity in midfield. Hope it doesn’t cost us! UTV!

Great podcast again lads,you always cheer me up when I need it. Inconsistency is costing us big time again, I hope we can sort it out ASAP. I agree with you as well about the "penalty" , it was a stone wall one as far as I could see, you can't punch someone in the face after the ball has gone, it was a joke. I saw the Purslow interview and it was great to listen to what he said about the future of everything, but if we get relegated all his talk will mean nothing...we just can't afford to go down ! UTV
All too familiar performance. Those last gasp winners just mask where we really are as a team this season. Inconsistency and naivety will be our undoing in the end. We are too easy to play through. Rarely look hard to break down. I'm surprised we let Chester go to Stoke of all teams tbh after they pissed us about with Butland. I hope there is a recall option on him. As far as the window, it attempted to plug the holes but not enough to give us the fix we need. I think we are counting the cost (excuse the pun) now of our average summer business. Lack of quality and experience at the back and not significantly strengthening our forward line has and will haunt us. Recruitment and particularly Suso has to be looked at moving forward - or backward- whatever the case may be
It was Chesters choice from what I Heard, Dean was never gonna stand in his way. We owe him that much.
I think our recruitment is usually crap, sonetimes we get it right a la McGinn !

Lads why did we change the team from the Leicester game , Nyland was inspired yet dropped ! The second goal was poor , should've put it wide for a corner poor decisions on and off the field , unless it's in the contract he's first choice !
What is the FFP situation? I'm assuming that the £100+mil that we spent in the Summer has put us on the limit re buying players. But what is the limit, how is it worked out and what does it mean for our chances of buying players to upgrade some of the squad in the summer from £8mil players to say £20mil players...?

The 30 years ive supported this club ive never known a team as hard to predict what they are going to do than this one this season. We dont really surprise teams enough with how we play, we need to mix it up now, ping some long balls out wide and get chalk on our boots, like against Sheff Weds last season for Johns beauty. Abit more variation would be a breath of fresh air.
Individual fannying about with the ball and mistakes are the bane of this season, we'd be nowhere near the bottom if the basics were just done a lot more
The most annoying thing is that it's exactly the same defensive mistakes that cost us every time. What sort of defensive work do they do in training? There is something seriously wrong somewhere. No matter how many good performances we've had in the past, we clearly look like relegation fodder every game now. We are in a fight to the death and too many times there's little or no fight! How are we getting worse? (Overall) Remember the Spurs game or Everton? How have we forgot how to play together since then? Where are Jota, Conor and Engels and why are they frozen out? Just not convincing
In terms of keepers and the rules, there's definitely an element of keepers being protected and I'm kind of unsure why that hasn't been looked at.
In terms of Villa, I think a few things that have happened recently have papered over the cracks. I've been saying for weeks that we're too slow to start, that we give teams too much time to create chances, give them too much respect. We're now in February and that's still an issue.
El Ghazi is the most infuriating player for me and in many respects sums up our team. Very talented, so much potential but 3 games out of 5 just doesn't show up. I don't know if it's a commitment thing or a psychological thing but I definitely think our safety will be decided on the final day.
Great podcast as usual Dan & Tom. I agree dan, we should have had a penalty when ramsdale punched Hause, & should have been sent off for dangerous play.
Want to beat the Villa? Have a man sent off. Smith and his team need to wake up asap. I really like Samatta, he has the first touch I wished Wesley had.
I really hope we can stay up and hold onto Grealish, Mings and McGinn. Then have another go at building the team around them in the summer. If we go down and lose those 3 I dread to think what will happen to us

Joint worst defensive record together with Norwich now. How is that acceptable for a club that spent 100+ million?
Serious questions needs to be asked Smith and his coaching staff after the season.
Partly because before we spent that money we only had an injured Chester and an Elphick as our CBs.
Top podcast lads but Dan we weren't unlucky at all on Saturday cos Bournemouth had close moments and chances as well when Lerma hit the bar and Gosling blazed over.
Bournemouth were just good and their defence was determined and decently solid but the goals we conceded were massively cheap especially the first goal.
To survive in the premier league you can't make successive errors in successive moments like we did for the first goal Mings with a stupid foul, Hause then is terrified and makes it too easy for their slow centre-half to cross it in then Gosling wins the header which is fair enough cos we can't win every header, but Nakamba and Targett didn't put enough pressure on him.
Then the second goal was us messing up a set piece by fannying about without a clear plan of what to do and trying to be too clever and a bad goalkeeping mistake that happens.
On another note Grealish did try very hard and did keep on going to get us something from the match but the remonstrating with the referee was embarrassing for me and should be for all us villa fans when he knew it wasn't a yellow for Lerma and it just isn't sporting to try and get someone sent off like that.
On the positive side tho Samata took his goal well and looks like he could be a brilliant player for us and be one of the players for us this season who are the difference between survival and relegation this season.
Still have a feeling and have had the feeling since the Crystal Palace away result and that bad refereeing decision to penalise jack for diving rather than seeing out the play will cost us. That extra point we should have from that game is looking important at the moment
The most important part of any club is recruitment, clubs that have wasted 100m Villa and West Ham.
The way I see it, we started the season looking good against the top sides away from home but without getting anything from the games. Now we have no choice but to perform against the top sides, Spurs, Chelsea, Wolves, Man United, Sheffield United and Chelsea all to come to Villa Park. Now is the time to step up, the reliance of Grealish was far too much against Bournemouth, he and Luiz are doing all the can, trying something different but the others need to do more. I'm not saying we need to win all the above games but we need to grind out a few draws. Why stay with the back 5 against 10 men? Hause had a shocker, it was begging for Conor to come on and get on the ball. Frustration is the word to summerise us so far, I just hope we can remain in a "good" spot for when McGinn returns, he'll be massive for the final run in. UTV
We need to be faster on the build up we take to long and give the teams time to set defence

We have done a Fulham this season. Many fans will deny this but we spent £150m on bang average players. Only good signings were Heaton and Mings. The rest are not established premier league quality.
Ppl will say we are rebuilding but if we had a few more premier league established players and then add 3/4 young upcoming players.
If you look at the table we have been demolished by all the top teams. Even the teams around us we’ve struggled. Only Norwich we have beaten twice and tbh at home we was lucky.
We are not going to win the cup so we need to focus on staying up.
We do not pull out shock results which is a concern, where as the teams around us does. We will end up 19th because I believe Watford and West Ham will over take us.
Samatta is lightweight but will improve in time but we don’t have that time.
We will not get anything against Spurs or against any of the bigger sides because the quality will rise to the top.

@@djd102006 a cup final anyone can win, i wouldn't lose hope yet no matter what we we have a good team spirit and theres a lot of teams around us that are in the same boat as us, I do agree that we spent too much money on too many unproven Premier league players but look how well Sheffield utd have done with the majority of their team the same as it was in the championship
Slí na Fírinne be honest we are going to be hammered by Man City at Wembley. They will play their full strength team.
We haven’t been near them or gave them a tough game in both games.
We won’t win the final, apart from Grealish we don’t have any creativity until McGinn is back.
Mings is also too important because If we lose him with injury then we are in trouble.

There is NO fight in the team, the players we purchased in the summer apart from Heaton & Mings have been poor, we have one of the GREATEST centre backs in P.L history on our coaching staff, i would like to know what he is telling the defenders to do on the training pitch, how many times have we failed to beat 10 men this seaon i think its at least 6, most players do not seem interested, the togetherness the team had last season has gone, i cannot see where our next 3 points are going to come from, our captain is carrying the team and he cannot do it all alone.
Konsa and Hause do not know how to start the plays from behind. They put the team in risk all the time
Lads go back and look at all the stats from the games this season. We’ve had less possession of the 2 sides in nearly every game. How are we going to win games when we can’t hold the ball. We are shocking!!

Poor performance Saturday. Poor all season in possession, 150 million on players and still none of them are decent and all are shocking in the ball. This is one of the reasons that we can’t string 4 passes together. Lack of quality and the players we brought in are not good enough!!! They would struggle in the championship!!
Our scouting team is obviously a joke ,and Purslow talks the talk but he obviously doesnt really bring much to the plate ! The less said about Suso the better!
Michael Heaney yeh completely agree!! What is suazo actual job?? All he does is gets us players that no one wants. Baston for 1 example.. I think we need to start all over again. We’ve bought 150 million worth of players but still if we lose jack through injury we are well fxxking!! And that says it all. Poor recruitment last summer.
Interesting, in Grealish's interview after the 2nd leg against Leicester he joked that over the Xmas period we 'couldn't string 5 passes together'. Well, actually, we still can't. Those injury time goals against Watford and Leicester were complete false dawns.
Matthew Watts I didn’t see the interview, but we’ve been like this since spurs away.. we are awful in possession. Every time we are in possession at the back I’m on the edge of my seat. As I know hause and mings ain’t comfortable on the ball. You can tell as they always punt the ball forward. Look at Saturday hause was just lumping it up the pitch and it kept coming back at us.
Well Suso fucked up recruitment big time but a load of very average players ! I Mean Nakamba cant even strike a ball like a footballer , I mean ok hes a difensive mid but for fuck sake I can shoot better than that ! Also Purlsow is all talk and not much else part trying to conquer Africa with the Villa brand the empire has long gone Chris ! And thank fuck for that!
Cup run will be our downfall. Will lose to city then lose against Leicester the week after. Too much of a distraction for inexperienced players.
