Fun fact for anyone who is unaware. The laugh was improvised and Lambert was giving a sincere apology before moving to reset the scene. But the director loved it so much, they kept that take in.
@@DeathtoRaiden1 And it was a critical dud despite being a well made film. And many people look at it as bad just because it has its cheesy moments. Yes it's one of the better received video game films but it still doesn't get the respect it deserves.
@@bigkmoviesandgames it wasn't a critical dud at all, it got mixed reviews. It got all the respect it deserved, let's not try and pretend this was a masterpiece also
@@DeathtoRaiden1 It is a critical dud critics on average didn't like it. And it doesn't have passing scores on any of the aggregate sites. Also I never claimed it was a masterpiece just that it deserves more praise than it got. It's not a bad film but it gets that stigma just because it's based on a video game.

Growing up watching, you think when he says "one of you 3 will decide the outcome of the tournament" that he means Liu Kang because obviously the main protagonist who is powerful enough to defeat Shang Tsung "decides" the tournament right? Upon re-watching years later I realized you could interpret this line to mean that actually Johnny Cage literally "decided" the outcome when he made the choice to challenge Goro on his terms - which saved the tournament. So although LK is the main hero and most powerful, JC was the one who "decided" the outcome of the tournament. Which makes JC and Raiden's lines later on all the more impactful - JC: "I made a choice, this is our tournament remember? Mortal Kombat? We fight it" Raiden: "Good, at last one of them understands".
The only guy on earth who can laugh like this and make it sound cool.

Wow never knew that. That's hilarious! 😹 thanx for sharing
The only information I can find about it is that it's an adlib, nothing about the apology being to the director rather than being part of the adlib.
@@Argumemnon I mean, you can see him moving to reset the scene in this very clip.
And then 11 years after this video was posted, Christopher Lambert reprises his role as Raiden for MK 11.
Guy is a legend
God of Sarcasm, everybody
just watched this part in the film and couldn't stop laughing
HAHAHAHAHA Indeed!!!
This was my favorite part of the movie xD
I agree XDDDDD
Same here.
After the Mk11 skin pack trailer.
The funniest part of this underrated film.
Mortal Kombat is not underrated. It was a massive hit on release and many people still consider it the only good video game movie adaptation today.

I am really surprised the games didn't adapt Raiden to fit Christopher Lambert's performance here. The game Raiden is so stiff.
Well at least Lambert came back to do voices for the movie skin they just added.
MK11 did.
At least game Raiden isn't 2021 reboot Raiden. The latter is such a terrible character.
Wish we could’ve gotten this Raiden for the new MK movie

Hey hey, lets not forget to give props to the composer, George Clinton. The joke wouldnt work without that dramatic build-up that goes nowhere 😂
Nice one!
Noob and Saibot didn't want Raiden to be sarcastic or funny. In 2023 I think we all love Lambert's Raiden more than anyone else.
What a story, Raiden.
Anyway, how's your sex life?
Everyone in the theatre laughed when he did that laugh lol just an fyi
