    Meng Rolls Royce Armoured Car in 1/35 scale model kit by The Inner Nerd.
    This video explains my techniques in the building, painting and weathering of Meng Rolls Royce Armoured Car in 1/35 scale model kit by The Inner Nerd. I start the video by building the scale model kit using Tamiya, AK Interactive glues and Mr Hobby tools. The key to building the Meng Rolls Royce Armoured Car in 1/35 scale model kit is to carefully read the instructions and assemble, using the tutorial as a guide. Take care in assembling the scale model kit so the the parts fit accurately and align as intended, this is the easiest way of speeding up the build.
    To paint the Meng Rolls Royce Armoured Car scale model kit it is best to use an airbrush. This video is designed to cover the airbrush technique so that you can see the thinning of paint and application onto the scale model kit. Harder & Steenbeck Evolution Silverline is used in this video along with AK Interactive Real Colors, Tamiya Acrylics, Mr Hobby Lacquer and Alclad II Metal effect Lacquers. Thinning paint is a very important technique so I will explain how to do that using the correct thinners for each paint type, suitable for beginners.
    Decals are applied with the aid of Tamiya Mark Fit Strong. This is a much more intense product than Micro Sol an Set solution and helps conform even the thickest decals onto the Meng Rolls Royce Armoured Car.
    The final part is the weathering using more AK Interactive weathering products as well as artists oil paints from Winsor & Newton and Abteilung 502, weathering washes from AMMO by MIG Jimenez and finally VMS Pigments. I start the weathering techniques using an enamel wash to bring out the panel lines on the scale model kit. Here I use oil washes from AMMO. To seal decals in I use a clear acrylic coat from VMS Matte varnish. Further and more detailed weathering techniques follow using artist oil paints which enable me to add streaks, grime and bleaching onto the model to give it a more aged, used and weathered effect. The VMS matte clearcoat varnish is airbrushed onto the Meng Rolls Royce Armoured Car. This matte varnish will help the weathering process as the matte finish allows more oil paint to stain the model surface. Dust and mud weathering effects are created using VMS pigments to imitate the weathering on tyres and undercarriage/landing gear.
    Final assembly of the Meng Rolls Royce Armoured Car in 1/35 scale model kit is completed using Loctite 406 super glue. All of the final small parts and lights are added onto the model kit to complete the model build.

    Yes. Please do an airbrush video. It’s always helpful to see how others do their airbrushing. And please include needle and psi/bar. So many don’t. The Rolls Royce looks amazing.

    Really great to watch. Pretty sure I saw one of these last year at the Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovil. As for suggestions for content; I’d like to see what you get up to with a 3D printer as I’m looking to get one myself. Even if it’s just a small segment in one of your builds. That would be interesting.

    I have a ton of kits, with about 20 built and all the weathering supplies you can think of and that's where it stops at the painting process weathering is the hardest. Just chipping alone it feels like it's not chipped enough and then you overdo it and ruin the whole thing

    • @TheInnerNerd
      @TheInnerNerd  7 месяцев назад

      Weathering can be a daunting process because you have to make more of a mess to take it back a step. I find chipping particularly difficult and actually skipped it on this model. The best thing about oil weathering on acrylic lacquer paints is that you can remove them without harming the paint underneath, meaning you can 'undo' it if it's not how you imagined. Be brave, take it slow and be mindful that less is definitely more when you add up the 3 steps I used in this video. Best of luck and thanks for watching :)

    hmmmmmm ok so initial comments are i need to let this sink in. and then watch again slowely with my modelling notebook to take notes and steps. this could be very useful as ref for my painting of a scratch PSNI tangi, an armoured land rover. steps 1 to 3 look very relevant. i will likely have a step four which is battle damage- paint, peteol bomb damage etc. thanks for posting!!

    An airbrushing video would be great. Especially if you include a part about when things are *not* as they should be. To illustrate how you can recognise things like too high/low pressure, too far away/too close, coat too wet or too dry, and all that. Most people show what to do to get it right, but forget to explain how to recognise and fix when you're not getting it all right. But a beginner will get it wrong, so how to recognise that and know what element of it all (pressure, thinning, distance, amount of paint you put on) to fix. Please, and thank you! :-)

    • @TheInnerNerd
      @TheInnerNerd  5 месяцев назад

      Hello. I'd say around 60 hours in total for something like a 1/35 tank or simple 1/48 plane such as a Spitfire. More for the 1/48 modern jets like Phantoms and Tornados

    • @TheInnerNerd
      @TheInnerNerd  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you :) I noticed that on some of the references the tires weren't always the same, some showed a lighter colour (I assume a sand/cream colour since the photos are black & white). Thought it would be a nice contrast against the Middle Grey of the bodywork. Thanks for watching :)
