    Thank you so so much for this!! I’ve been wanting to try mosaic crochet and this is the one that got me going! I just did a stitch along with you and completed the first half. I used a brightly colored stripe yarn! It worked perfect! I’m gonna finish this and make a scarf, then I’m gonna make a large one into a throw!! Btw, I’ve been crocheting for 50 years and never saw the mosaic technique before! Again, thank you! Happy stitching everyone!!❤

      I discovered it several years ago while looking for an unusual baby blanket pattern to make for a friend who was adopting a baby with health issues and was not expected to reach his second birthday. Like you I have been stitching that long also, my Mom began teaching me at age 5.
      I must warn you mosaic crochet is extremely addictive and you will be hooked.
      Once you get this one under your belt, if you find you truly enjoyed it and want more, check out Hooked by Robin’s channel (she has loads of them and she organises them by the pattern repeat number to help you if you want to create something and it needs to be a specific stitch count and my all time favourite channel for mosaic crochet, Tinna Thorudottir Thorvaldar her work is just incredible, she is an Icelandic designer. She does clothing, bags, hats, mittens, etc not just blankets and scarves. She teaches how to do mosaic crochet in the round (which is great and hasn’t got lots of ends to sew in or hide with an envelope border). Like this channel, her tutorials are easy to follow and they are also in English. And there are lots of other mosaic designers here on YT as well. If you only use free patterns (I do a mix of free and paid), visit Ravelry and do a search for free mosaic crochet patterns and you will be in heaven. There are even some YT tuts teaching you how to read the chart so you don’t need to have it written out in words or following along as someone else does it in a video. That opens a whole new world as you can then use other craft charts to adapt into mosaic and then even start designing your own patterns with a bit of graph paper. I hope you end up enjoying mosaic crochet as much as I do.

    (Long comment warning. I'm bored to death.) I love this technique! I'm going to start a blanket for my parents' couch. My mom asked for something to match the painting that has hung in their home for over 40 years. It was painted and gifted to my dad by a young employee of his back in the day at the city. He caught the guy slacking in a construction type situation and tore a strip off him. The man was so grateful for some reason, like forcing him to take stock or maybe for not firing him. I bet he didn't think it would be over their sofa 40-50 years later. It's a beautiful mountain lake scene with deer and a few fall trees. So grey/ green/ blue and gold. I love how this technique makes the work double-layered for extra warmth, also.

I’m feverishly trying to get good enough at consistent stitches and find the right yarn to start one of these patterns. I just love them.

    I tried to follow your pattern...made it asymmetrical after the Grecian Keys pattern...(added 1 more row of color A)... It does not work up the same when working beyond 24 stitches... the asymmetry goes way off at rows 8 and 9 after stitch 24...had to modify to put asymmetry back in to the piece... It's a decent tutorial... but, I would have done 48+3 to show the asymmetry beyond 24 stitches... my modifications on row 8 (working 147 stitches) are as follows:
    (Left handed)
    Row 7: standing center sc, 2 blsc, fldc, 13 blsc, flsc, *3 blsc, fldc, 13 blsc, flsc (repeat from * 13 blsc, ending with 2 blsc and 1 center sc bind off
    Row 8: slip knot, 1 standing center sc, 2 fldc, 3 blsc, *9 fldc, 3 blsc, 3 fldc, 3 blsc, repeat from * to end with 2 fldc, center sc
    By the way...I'm not selling this...I'm left handed and everything is backwards for me... I could read a pattern obviously, but it would still be all backwards for me... I'm just trying the pattern out...being a lefty...I can only go by what is asymmetrical on this pattern & change when it no longer is asymmetrical... it must be nice for all the right handed people to have EVERYTHING catered to them because they are the majority of society... thanks for putting the pattern on here... just a lefty trying to work a right handed pattern. 🤦‍♀️

    What a gorgeous technique, pattern and project. This might might be a stupid question ❓. Why is the yarn cut at end of each row when it can be picked up one or two rows above as needed? I know cutting yarn will keep edges clean. However if there's a border the edge will be clean. Thank you. I would like to attempt this mosaic pattern for a throw. ❤

    • @BebaBlanket
      @BebaBlanket  8 месяцев назад +1

      Overlay mosaic crochet is worked from the front side only, and you have to cut the yarn at the end of every row. I understand. It feels strange in the beginning. You get used yo it after one or 2 projects ❤️❤️❤️ The tails can be hidden by crocheting a double border, or you can leave a fridge ❤️❤️❤️

    I really love the pattern that you put, it is very beautiful, but the problem it becomes is when we want to make it big because you don't put the stitches to make a Queen size or any size because with 27 stitches that you make, it is something very small, but how does a large size make

    • @katiacunill9057
      @katiacunill9057 4 месяца назад

      I wonder if It works just by adding the 27 stitches all over until you get the size you requiere ?

    I learned to crochet when I was little, so I’ve been crocheting for over 30 years. And I know there’s no wrong way to hold a hook, but it actually bothers me watching most crochet youtubers with their index finger sticking out and crocheting into the air. And then go to reddit to complain that their index fingers keep cramping and that they can’t keep an even tension. Gee, I wonder why!
    You can’t imagine how ridiculously happy it made me to see you holding the hook like I do, crocheting over the folded index finger, which is holding the work steadily, and using the other fingers for tension. Far better control and no absurd stress on one single finger

    • @tinawillis587
      @tinawillis587 2 месяца назад

      Well I think your comment is very rude to people that hold their finger different from yours! Maybe we think your way is absurd, because I've tried it that way and it's uncomfortable and I can't get my fingers to work that way. My tension is just fine too, by the way. So I will just hold my fingers the way that's comfortable for me and it's not anymore absurd than the way you hold yours!
