A tip for you . When you have the dimensions of your cooker , fridge etc , put sheets of paper or cardboard cut to side on the floor. Then you have the footprint they use up and this will help you determine where other items will go, e.g the Island

You don’t need to buy the same brand extractor hood as the cooker. Most people ai know wouldn’t (unless you’re getting a decent discount to buy both). I’m with the other commenters who say mark out your planned kitchen on the floor, it will give you a clear understanding of whether your plan works in practice for you. Also, bear in mind if you get a fridge freezer with a 2 door freezer compartment, 5he freezer. Shelves are quite small - I had one and discovered I couldn’t fit some items in (such as a frozen pizza).

    • @nandaabreu5369
      @nandaabreu5369 3 месяца назад +5

Yes, mark out your appliances and even counter top, island etc. Remember… you are using the metric system which is 1000 times more accurate than the imperial one. So you can measure everything to the smallest millimeter. 👍👍👍

    • @PatriciaRegier

And lines for how far the open fridge, dishwasher, oven, washer/dryer doors go. And don't forget the over hang of the island.

If you haven't done the kitchen yet, Draw a scale floorplan of the room (including pillars and alcoves) then cut out some scale shapes of the various appliances that you have measured (don't forget to mark what each shape is on to it). Fit the shapes onto the floor plan drawing and move them around until you are happy with the layout, then either tape or glue them in place. Thar will allow you to work out electrical outlets and water lines. Also good for the other rooms - bathroom, bedrooms. 🙂
Also maybe think about a 2nd outlet next to the container one, so that if you ever do go down the camping site route on the terrace, you can run in some power lines to them

Just a heads up, I watched a video a few months ago in regards to refrigerators. An appliance repair man was reviewing refrigerators. Just thought you might like to know.

I agree through the door ice and water can be problematic. Side by side refrigerators are a problem because you can’t put big dishes in them. Get appliances that there are repair people for. I recently bought a GE combo washer/dryer. Because the dry cycle uses a heat pump to heat the air to dry the unit uses $12 of power per year. It’s huge and heavy. I would avoid gas if at all possible. They pollute your indoor air with benzene and other zenes, not to mention carbon monoxide and dioxide. I love induction cook tops. They are so effective.

Hi guys, in Portugal having ALL appliances from the same co. Is totally insignificant. Here, we look at having the best appliance in the market for our budget. Some appliance brands are well known for putting out great ovens, other are known for great washers, so having different brands of appliances in the kitchen is totally fine (even when it comes to selling your home) as long as it is a quality appliance. Maybe it's the shape, but I find them romantic in some way. So watch the carbs (boo) and enjoy what you allow yourself (yay). When I was planning my rooms, I got a roll of tape and marked the floor so I could see exactly what I was dealing with. As for the fridge, my parents bought a normal european size fridge with a top freezer (family of 3) and then they put a second smaller fridge in the pantry. That way when we had guests or parties, they used the second fridge--it was perfect - and when not in use they unplugged it. And the clothesline are wonderful. I still have one and use it every week (even living in a big north american city). My dryer is rarely used. Love the smell of fresh air in the clothing.

AFTER I replaced my washer and dryer I viewed an appliance repair guy review washers on line. I learned SO MUCH but it was too late to use the information. He suggested a "commercial grade" washer. The repair guy demonstrated the washer effectiveness by putting a brightly colored shirt in a white washer load. Most washers never pulled that bright shirt down into the water. It stayed at the top of the load. My fancy washer does not move the laundry around the washer and twist everything into knots.

Here in Portugal, I would say that 99% of people hang clothes out in the sun. Personally, I only bought a clothes dryer when my son was born during a particularly wet winter, and we needed dry clothes. Now we use it almost daily for a few minutes just after taking them in from the sun to "give a warmth to the clothes" to soften them before folding and storing.

    Buy Miele!
The first washing machine we bought lasted 30 years with one repair, and you don't even have to move the machine for access as the engineer undoes 3 fixings and the whole front swings open!
I tried to work out just how many cycles this machine did as sometimes, with old fashioned nappies to be washed for two children, the machine was doing several washes every day.
Our second washing machine is now 15 years old with no repairs to date!
Yes, they are more expensive, but you sometimes get a 10 year warranty and in 45 years we've only bought these 2 washing machines . . . . . . .
And don't forget you can stack a drier on top of the washing machine so you can dry a load whilst washing the next.

I was on top of the highest hill of the Algarve, Fóia. Right next to Monchique. It was very nice to see the whole coastline.
Afterwards I walk to the village. It was nice. Just like all the villages in Portugal.

I'm a custom cabinet builder with 40 years of experience. I always do full-size templates that include floor layouts and a profile to show height. Contractors scratch their heads when I tell them this ahead of the cabinet installations. When I bring them everyone loves it, especially the electricians. They know exactly where to put plumbing and electrical plugs and anything else you'd find important. Also, download the appliance installation specs ahead of time. It tells the door swing distance and where the plugs and water lines should be. I'm very interested in this project of yours. 🤓

One thing to consider when selecting your fridge is do you want counter depth fridge or not? In other words do you want the fridge to be in line with cabinet depth or are you ok with the fridge being bulkier and sticking out more than cabinets? My sister made me aware of that consideration when I designed my kitchen and I am very happy she did. Good luck with your dream home. You will be in sooner than you think.

100% run a 32A cable to the container. You will get used to drying your clothes on a line. I'm annoyed if I need a dryer now lol
Having a smaller fridge helps me eat fresh more regularly.

Do buy the Miele washer and dryer, a bit more expensive first, but so durable and they are still able to fix the little parts that will show wear and tear over the years, so in the long term you buy cheaper!

Yes we have 2.5kw solar, sure they're having solar for house, if min 2.5kw (I'd suggest min 3kw) input for house higher power watts on appliance won't be such an issue & in dark hrs they'll have power station batteries to use maybe.

You should look into SMART HOME basically there are lights LED can dim and be any color. No wiring to switches that is all wireless , each light or outlet is addressed separately so multiple devices on one circuit. A lot less in money , more flexible and easy to expand. Covers everything inside and out and can run with no input from user.
It is ideal and before you get too far contact a smart contract near you.

  • @cesarneves

Miele is a good brand of appliances, as for Bosch. The "American# fridges are way too expensive, space-consuming and with the icemaker/water dispenser, you`re looking into many things that can break over time. I prefer the tall ones "Combinado" of both freezer in the bottom and fridge on top. As for insurances, I only work with a broker that finds me the best deals and developing a relationship with them, I get clear information about eveything. Also, having all with one broker gets me better deals and once in a while they even through me some free policies.

My Miele in the USA is 20 yrs old and it still looks like the first day I got it. I just wish the drum was bigger. My Miele doesn’t hold any hidden water inside like other front loaders do which causes odor. Washes great but down side is service. I need service and they want $400 to come out and diagnose it but I already know what it needs. Service quality has changed in last 10 yrs. That’s the only downside besides size of drum on washer. Dryer is great size.
