- Here's how I play Duane's solo from the Allman Brothers' classic jam tune: Whipping Post.
It's also #86 on the 100 Greatest Guitar Solos of All Time list.
Dickey Betts' solo coming up soon.
Best lesson on Duane's masterpiece I've found thus far.
Thanks!
Personally, I prefer Dickie's solo, he goes outside in a way I really like (the part at 3:35 in particular).
But I can't deny this is one of Duane's crowning moments.
I have to say I really like the way you demonstrate these solo. The pace, the verbal instructions, it’s quick precise and to the point. You are an exceptional instructor and guitarist. Thanks
I agree. I hate watching a video where the instructor goes on and on and on about everything. I just want the instructor to tell me the basics like what key or what scale and start teaching.
Outstanding!!!! Not too fast, not too slow... In my opinion, a great instructor. Thank You!!
Luke, this an excellent lesson. Thanks
Thank you for a straight-forward, excellent lesson. Duane was awesome - thanks for helping make him accessible.
I am so impressed! Not only did you nail the fluidity of the solo dead on but did a great job of explaining it! I'm digging into this right away....thank you!!
Awesome 👏
Thanks for the video, love this song and the solos🤙
Amazing job.
Thank you, Luke! Great work, man. So much in such a short solo. I have never made a tab before but I transcribed this solo as best I could by following along to your video. With your permission, I'd credit you and publish it to Ultimate Guitar.
dcholcomb sure! I don't mind at all
Here I was thinking “Ibanez playing SkyDog...gimme a break 🙄🙄😳”.
Then Luke proceeds to just melt my face off.
Well done, Sir!
Great solo, and you are an awesome teacher.
(can't reply directly to Kate T's comment for some reason)
I figured this one out by ear.
I sometimes reference published transcriptions or videos for different perspectives on how something could be phrased, but I try to do as much by ear as possible.
Awesome!!!! I I never expected to see this solo made by a human! What planet are you?!! Thanks for this!!
Thoughly Enjoyed this... Will work on it..
Awesome! thanks so much!!
Great job, bro ! I particularly liked how you didn't drag things along, baby-stepping is through every little part. Too many U-tube tutorials do this, and I just wanna scream, "WE GOT IT ALREADY !! WE CAN SEE YOUR FINGERS, NOW MOVE IT ALONG!!"
Sorry for the rant, LOL!
Nice job
Nice Axe man!!! I have the exact same guitar but in purple. Don't play it much anymore because of the Floyd . I play ina lot of alternate tunings. like this song i play in open E so i'll be transposing what you figured out. anyway thanks.
Good how to men. tanks!!!!
Wow.
yo that's sick! how did you learn it? from ear or did you watch them or a tab?
