I have often considered this sonata an early Beethoven masterpiece. Thanks so much for your insightful analysis and beautiful performance.
I'm a big fan of your channel, I'm not even a pianist, but I love your analysis and commentary! ( I'm more of a composer and guitarist )
Thank you so much! I'm glad you find something useful here.
How fortunate, I am currently learning it 😁
Awesome, hope you have a great time working on it!
A wonderfully informative introduction and commentary, followed by a fabulous performance: bravo, Cole!
Thanks as always Graham!
Thank you! You have an excellent format in your videos.
Thanks for watching!
The first ever sonata (in general) I've learned. I sure am interested to see how the video plays out.
Thanks for watching!
@@TheIndependentPianist Interesting analysis, enjoyed the video.
Wonderful performance! My favourite version of this piece I’ve heard.
I love your videos with the added commentaries accompanying the performance. As a self learning adult returning to the piano, and absolutely loving it, these videos are very helpful. I really enjoy learning about music history and theory/composition as well.
I am learning this piece now. Just wondering about use of the pedal? I’m learning without any pedal but feel there are spots where it could be used but I want it to be appropriate to the piece and certainly not sound “muddied”
Thanks!
Look forward to your Friday video!
The playing of the last mov. has musical ,wonderful tonal variety and controlled sound ! I never noticed the sf at ms. at 67 . This is not like later Beethoven sforzatos ! Or at least today's pianist loveto give us today's big Kawai and Steinway hammeredsfz's Beethoven did want a louder piano and would have marvelled at today's instruments .
❤
I've just started this piece - is the Alberti bass starting at bar 16 meant to be detached (as indicated by no slur lines)? Or is is assumed legato as seems to be played here?
