Co-washing does not wash off dirtiness. Co-washing is just to soften your hair through the week. Shampoo is like body wash for a shower to clean your body. Co-washing is like putting on lotion when you get ashy. You wouldn't just lotion everyday right? You'd be extremely dirty even if you're soft and smell good. :) Point I'm making: You need to shampoo :)

I gave up the natural life because it was so complicated and the products are super pricey at times. Now that I'm relaxed, I have to reach myself how to take care of it. Currently experiancing breakage and this video was on point. Especially when you said you were also protein sensitive, finally someone understands what that really means....thanks

I moved to Australia and my hair grew like crazy. I didn't use ANY heating utensils... just washed, conditioned and wore naturally for 8 months. I come back to America and POOF!!! Breaks off like crazy. I have EXCESSIVE breakage. I mean going from 12 inches to a half inch in most spots. I'd say about 40% of my head and its devastating being that it grew about 4-5 inches while I was overseas and I did absolutely nothing to it. I never wrapped it at night, never put any oil in it. It was simply shampoo, conditioner, and a leave in conditioner. Plus 90-100 degrees everyday but I was fine and it grew like crazy.
    What I made the difference...
Different products here in the states, different water (yes water)... I was showering with rainforest water and now its back to this chemical faucet water (no I'm not crazy lol), food and nutrution is different there, no polution (again I'm sure I sound crazy but I lived in the tropics so going from that to a polluted city I think makes the difference. Sure has on my skin!!!)
    Solution...
idk that's why I'm here lol I'M DESPERATE. It was broken off like crazy when I landed in Australia and grew heavily so I'm going to try to do as much as possible to get it back and try to go back to whatever I was doing overseas. I just think as far as climate and products alot of it is out of my control :(

Hey there, thank you for posting this video ! I have transitioning hair and my hair sucks right now so this helped a lot with finding a way to prevent the breakage. You know there's one way to straighten your hair without the use of a flat iron or blow drier of any kind what so ever. My mom used to do this when she went to a boarding school in Belgium and what she did was she sectioned her into small parts and tie a thread (for sewing) tightly at the roots, and ravel it down to the end her hair. It's a pain in the ass when doing it the first few times but the moment you wake up the next morning and unravel it (which is usually fun), the results are so worth it.

Thanks for this. All of my hair just recently broke off in the middle of my head due to over process with a relaxer to keep my short hairstyle sleek. I am looking for ways to fix my damaged hair, stop the breakage, and grow it back. I may have to cut it all off due to the excessive breakage, but your videos give me hope that it will grow back sooner than I think.

I'm so glad I just found this video. I know I over manipulate my hair at times. I try to fix my hair too much and I'm not gentle. Watching embrace natural beauty's channel the way she handles her hair. It's so gentle and relaxing to boot. Lol. Thank you for this video Another thing I did was slick back my hair when sopping wet and when my hair dried it shrink therefore break off
especially on my sides. Oh and finding the right balance has always been a struggle. I'm protein sensitive also.

"So if you're ruff and tuff with your afro puffs" 😂 loool. I love your personality and this video really helped me with my breakage. I have type 3b/3c hair and my breakage and split ends were crazyyy. Turns out I wasn't moisturising and sealing correctly. So I've just trimmed the horrible brittle ends off and moisturised and sealed, I have to say my hair definitely feels and looks much better. And.. No more breakage! ☺️

great info.. I had lots of breakage. I thought at first it was shedding but soon realized that it was not. So I went on a research frenzy and you are so right there are so many videos about breakage, but not the many causes of it. I finally figured out that it was my detangling process and that i need some sort of protein treatment.

thank you so much, this really helped me. i’m only twelve and i do a lot of really cute hairstyles; which also include ones that require multiple hairties, which make it tight. my hair has been like 1 1/2 inches in the middle of my head i’ve been really upset. mostly because my mom has been saying that i have to get a weave put in so that my hair will grow out and i personally don’t think that a weave will look good in my hair. i have always had my hair natural and i don’t like the texture of weave. i was thinking maybe i can do two braids and it won’t look so mad but this video really helped me and i will for sure show my mom this video, hopefully i won’t have to get a weave put in. thank you so much 😘 much love. 💙

Hi, my hair had been breaking off,I don't use any heating tools and my hair is naturally oily I started taking vitamins for hair, skin, nails. I also been doing treatments like using coconut oil, I think it could be because of my poor diet well I just started to eat foods that help and nurturing my hair to see if that helps because I just don't know why my hair is breaking off....TFS.

I do the apogee 2 step. Allow it to air dry first, then hit it with a blow dryer for about a min or 2 at the very end. Works the same. Less heat. Im not gonna do a dryer for a half hr. Every 6-8wks. Daily lite moisturizing b4 bed. Imperative! Also don't let hair get dried out, then say i should condit now. No! Its gonna break. Dont let it get to that point. Be consistent with lite bedtime condit/oil. Also my house is very dry inside. Sucks the moisture out of hair/skin. I got a new furnace so that took care of that. Or crack a window to get humidity in yor house every day. Hair scarf/pillow case. Also if yor nails are breaking yor low on calcium. Why not hair? It's the same. Also biotin/vit b/d pills for growth. Also a shower filter if you have hard water. If u have rings in yor toilet, can't get glasses clear in d/w you have hard water. Salts/minerals deposit on yor hair and dry the motha out of it.

  • @2Ryled

I was not washing my hair as often to save it from breaking. It didn't need the wash but it needed the water/conditioner. So I was letting it get drird out. I use lco method now. Deep condit on weekend. No more breaking

u just confirmed all the things I do that just to me make sense but i never hear anyone on youtube saying them. Like if i have to give in and flat iron my edges I will separate them from the rest of my hair and wash the edge control out. SO MANY people just run the flat iron right over their edges....i used to do this because in my mind if i could no longer see the edge control that meant it wasn't there. I learned the hard way unfortunately smh....

You have saved me with this list of light protein treatments. I retouched my hair in December and it has not been happy since. But I also know that my hair hates protein. A teeny bit and it swings the balance too the other extreme that it still breaks. So far only ORS conditioner and Hair Mayonnaise for deep treatment seem to work on my hair. Thanks

  • @vielkarodriguez7966

Thanks kindly you are very resourceful and classy. My hair does not like v05. I am not relaxed but my hair is breaking badly. Don't use heat other than when deep conditioning. That was my thought today I did faux locks and my hair was so long and mousterized by the time I took out. I was less stressed too. I always color hair but has never experienced the severity of breakage. I think I will wash only 2 times a mo and co wash 2 time my hair used to like that and stay away from rice water.

ALSO!!!! make sure that you rotate the way that you tie your scarf!
I was experiencing so much breakage near the nape of my neck, and I couldn't figure out why for the longest time.
I have pixie cut short hair, so my favorite way protective style is to wear scarves, and finally, a few months ago, a friend pointed out to me that my hair was probably breaking (it was only breaking in that one spot, and more or less totally healthy everywhere else) because I was constantly wearing scarves, which was constantly putting pressure on only one part of my hair.
I started alternating (tying it in the back for a day or two, then tying it in the front for a day or two...) and using the cantu shea butter cream and viola! in just a month or two I went from literally having a bald spot at the back of my head (oh yeah, it was bad.) to growing it back to the length it was before the breakage.

Thanks for your video--it was quite helpful. I'm transitioning from a relaxer which I normally put in 5-6 months. I color gray. My hair started to break--I don't know why but I'm trying to stop it. I discovered my hair is low porosity but I don't know the type. It's difficult because there's still relaxer in my hair--it's grown out about an inch or two. I plan to try a protein treatment today and see if that stops breakage. Thanks again for the information--I did subscribe.

Thanks you sooooo much for your compliments and for watching it. It really means a lot to me. Thank you!

hair breakage is real and it's something that I struggled with when I first tried going natural last summer after going strong for 6 months and I was so frustrated that I went to the salon so confused bad choice and decided to get a perm and then she cut it into a short bob because I needed to start over. but I decided to try again and now I'm 6 months post since then and trying to transition for a year !

Hey! I enjoyed this vid♥♥ my question is when my relaxed hair is not flat ironed, how can i maintain movement. i noticed that if my hair isn't freshly washed, deep conditioned, blow dried and flat ironed, it wont be flowy and everything. but i don't wan to flat iron it every week. So how can i give my hair that body that yours has without flat ironing or using a blow dryer. Also, my hair gets stiff all the time. i try not to use product in my hair but it's still stiff, especially the front of my hair. for some reason, the back and the middle is longer, and more flowy even when my hair isn't flat ironed bu tthe front is STIFF! any tips?
    Thanks

Hey luv! Awww...yeah I have a friend that cannot take it either due to excessive shedding. I love it. You may not want to risk it but you can try taking it with MSM and Vitamin C which is supposed to help with shedding. I'd rather you be safe though. Thanks a million for watching and commenting luv!

Thank you so much. Now I think that I know why my hair is breaking. I do not do protein treatments much at all. Actually like 3 times in almost 2 years. I am going to try that to see if I can stop the breakage. I just cut 1 inch today.......did it in Jan or Dec as well and before that in august of last year. My ends were thinning out. But thanks a million.

I am a mixed girl. Not sure of my curl pattern (I'm thinking 3c to 4a) I have breakage. I relax. I am trying to grow my hair. Such a pain. I haven't had a relaxer in probably 6 to 7 months. I need a trim so bad. I'm growing out a stacked Bob. I'm seriously now just wearing headbands because I'm trying to lay off heat. I haven't even colored in I don't know how long. I'm about ready to chop it, start over and wear wigs. My husband would murder me LoL. But that's my last resort.

I like aphogee green tea keratin spray. I like how it helps my permed hair. I definitely think that when the hair is permed, many may need more protein. It really helps my hair.

Hey luv! I wonder if my hair if would like it...lol! hmmm! Sounds amazing! I am very protein sensitive and even my relaxed hair didn't like to much protein. But YES you are right...relaxed hair does require more protein because a lot is lost during the relaxing process. I'm so glad you have something that you know works for you. Thanks for sharing luv! I appreciate you watching!

i have been really paying attention to my curls because im trying to get waist length. ive done so many changes and experience significantly less breakage over the past several months. i still see some breakage, so im going to try a light protein treatment :) i haven't tried that yet. i deep condition and i LOVE the shea butter moisturizer as well, i use that as a leave in now. & i'll try my best to use more protective styles, but its hard to not touch my hair!!

My hair got baby thin like new born baby hair using Wen shampoo. I quit using it and started using a shampoo with protein in it and it has helped. Based on your information i will be getting a protein treatment to use. The Wen is ONLY oils...lots of moisture, but NO protein. What you say makes since in my case. Thanks for the info.! :)

I love this video so much! Very informative! I have naturally highly porous hair which I also color but I find that breakage occurs when I detangle it wet and that's probably why I can't retain length. When my hair is wet, it loses all elasticity and snaps no matter how gentle I am with it or how much conditioner I detangle with. I want to try dry detangling but I'm not sure how to do that. I brought a Tangle Teezer and a Denman brush which I removed every other row of teeth on and I hope that helps better with detangling. Do you have an articles or tips on dry detangling that I could use?

    • @GlamorousLife328
      @GlamorousLife328  10 лет назад +2

BlizzardxThexWolf Hey luv! Awww...thanks a million! I would suggest dry detangling with an oil or list mist and oil, being sure to finger detangle first and then start from the ends and work your way up with your detangling tool. I hope this helps you...keep me posted on your results and progress. Thanks so much for watching and reaching out to me luv!

I need help! I've been natural for 3 years and recently I died my hair and put a keratin deep treatment in my hair and straightened it and now my roots are all pin start even when it's wet. It has now been 3 months since then I'm starting to have new growth but my hair is STILL breaking off a lot. My hair feels thinner then normal. I've tried the aphogee protein treatment 2x since January, I do moisture treatments 2x a week (store bought mask & homemade), im very gentle with my hair, trimmed my ends, I've used the azetec clay & ive used the aphogee 2min reconstruction for 5 mins and it seems to be that NOTHING is working. The parts that aren't straight aren't even back to its normal curl pattern. I have RUclips videos on my hair. Please any suggestions because I'm losing it. 😭
