i’m in 8th grade and i really really really want to get into Columbia. My dad knows someone who works at Columbia and i’m going to visit a pediatrician who graduated from there :D. I currently got into 2 out of 3 schools i applied for in the tachs exam (sadly didn’t get into Dominican academy) and waiting for my results for the specialized public high schools. i’m watching videos while studying for a science midterm because I got really discouraged when I didn’t get into my top choice. but, i was reassured that i will be fine in the school i’m planning to enroll in.

Just do what’s related to your major, and do a couple of activities for a while/achieve a lot in said few. You can also do activities for fun, but still be sure to show either leadership, achievement, or dedication.
I want to get into Columbia University when I’m older. I’m almost fourteen and I’m also in eighth grade, so I’m hoping to start getting serious and get good grades now so I don’t ruin it by not trying hard later, I am a very ambitious student, and I’m hoping to get into Columbia, it is also one of the colleges I want to get into.

My final semester 1 sophomore gpa is going to be around 3.95 here in a few days. Since for the first time I know what my goal is (to get into Columbia) getting a 4.0 semester 2 won’t be an issue. I was just wondering if it is too late to try to get into Columbia since I don’t do any extracurriculars, volunteering, sports or anything like that. Is it too late to start doing these things and get into Columbia? Do I still have a chance?
Yes, you definitely still have a chance! You just need a solid plan going forward. It is important to get involved with extracurriculars, but they should be what's important to you and what you're passionate about. I didn’t take no hard classes in 9th grade , 10th grade I took one honors, 11th grade I took 4 honors, 12th grade I’m taking dual enrollment college math, 2 ap, the rest honors. In 11th grade when I did chemistry honors I passed with a A+ and that’s y I’m doing ap chem in 12th grade that’s what I guess I’m strong at. Also math, I’ll be taking trig honors along with the college math. I’ll be doing possibly taekwondo and I’m trying to have 2 jobs while in school (I have one rn). My gpa isn’t up yet but from last year it wasn’t a 4.0 idk if I’ll have a chance

Hey! So I am a sophomore in hs and I keep a 95 average throughout all of my classes and my passion is dance. I dance upwards of 30 hours a week, specifically ballet and contemporary. My dream is to become a professional dancer, but I also need a college degree. I only do one extra curricular other than dance, and I love science. Columbia is my dream school, any advice?

Hey, I’m a senior in hs applying to Columbia this fall! I’m a dancer planning on majoring in biology. My grades are pretty good (mostly A’s, a couple high b’s, unweighted gpa is 3.89 and weighted is 4.8 out of 6), I’ve taken 4 ap classes (and scored very well on the tests), almost all other honors classes, and I will be taking 2 dual credit college courses this year. I am planning on auditioning for the dance team or dancing somehow on campus, but this is not my major. Is it ok that most of my extracurriculars and experience revolve around dance and performing arts or do I need to try and add some related to biology and forensic science (forensics is going to be my career)? What do you think my shot at being accepted is? Also I haven’t gotten to take sat yet cause of COVID :(

So i've struggled with math pretty much throughout all of high school so while I was good in most of my classes I lacked in math and for the first 3 years of high school I didn't take any APs, though I was in debate from 9-10. (Couldn't do for 11th cuz covid). I am in my senior year. I am taking 4 APs now, though I might take another one if there is a half-year class during next semester, am engaging in more extracurriculars and am also considering to take some college courses online (i heard that from collegevine). My averaged GPA's for now are about 3.85. Could I still get into Columbia or any other prestigious school? My dream school is Columbia Law. Thank You

I'm a 17 years old girl from Poland, a student from high-school but it's with a profile "advertisement " (in Poland we have normally high school and "technicall school" so I'm learing stuff like English and math, but also like marketing or drawing). My point is, will grades from those subjects count on the application? And If I'll pass SAT and TOEFL in a good level, do I have a chance for Columbia? It's my dream school. yes those grades will most likely count if you submit your transcripts from both normal high school and technical school! doing well on the SAT and TOEFL are definitely awesome goals, and along with strong ECs and awards you can maximize your chances of getting in. email me if you need any advice doing so!
