Hi! I'm so glad i found your RUclips channel because you're so amazing and i want to major in creative writing just like you did and i don't really know anyone else who likes creative writing, honestly (i live in india so not too much of a writing culture here) and i wanted to ask you if you could type like a list of all the creative writing competitions and literary magazines you mentioned in this video? I was looking for that kind of stuff and it would be suuuper helpful.
My extracurriculars aren't the best they're actually my weakness it involves volunteering at a local library also at a religious spot i attend and a community service but only for a year also being in a club in my school, robotics club for a short period of time however my GPA and sat score as well as my act score are really good, do you think I have a good chance to get into Columbia?
to my knowledge there isn't a complete list anywhere, but a few that i know of are the bravura youth orchestra, the congregation torat el, and skillsUSA. the main way you can find similar organizations is by googling "president's volunteer service award certified organizations nj," and you'll see results for organizations that specifically list that they're certified on their websites. you can also always work with an organization to get them certified, which of course has the added benefit of showing initiative ;) feel free to get in touch with me if you need any help doing that!
each college has specific instructions for submitting an arts or science supplement (which is what you're referring to here, right?), but it usually comes down to submitting a document of different pieces of creative writing and music, or slides of art, or a video of you performing a dramatic monologue, or even an abstract for a research paper!
Thanks again for your videos. They have really helped me think about how I want to put my best self forward in my college applications this Fall.
Iris, thank *you* for these kind words! Can't wait for our meeting later today :)
