On 1975 I rode this with my folks,I was 13. Then it was all wooden box cars and steam train.

i took this train in 2016! almost missed it after missing bus to get there but luckily i found some other tourists and got a cab with them to the train spot! what a great day!! Machu Picchu is amazing!!!!

This modern train units irritate me In my memory of the 1970ies steam and some diseasels from the 1950ies were motive power and I liked it.

Since we were leaving Aguas Calientes I can only assume we were going downhill at that point.

From Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, the train is traveling in the opposite direction of the river flow.

@@thelongestjourneychannel From Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, it is going uphill. Aguas Calientes is at an altitude of approximately 2100 meters and Ollantaytambo is at approximately 2800m.
