  • www.homedepot.... The Klein Plier Wrench D53010 is a 10" water pump style plier with a reversible lower jaw allowing for two parallel smooth jaws, or one smooth and one angled tooth-filled lower jaw. It is more the same than different compared to the Knipex Plier Wrench and Cobra. The Klein is heavier than the comparable sized Plier Wrench by Knipex, and much heavier than the Cobra.

4:15.. That reversible pipe jaw is literally for grabbing pipe and spinning it or holding pipe... you can use it on the nut or bolt end but it's mostly for grabbing pipe..
    8:20.. flip the pliers over...and try that...🤔
I have a different version Of the pipe jaw pliers (adjustable wrench style) like these it actually does bite pretty well like a pipe wrench when you flip it around...

I was going to comment about this being a useless combi-tool for cycling as in Cobra mode (un)torquing rounded nuts might well damage the surface of the top jaw slightly, making the pliers wrench mode more marring on the new fixing. However, I completely take your point that this is a plumbing tool designed mainly for pipes (in Cobra mode) and cosmetic damage to fasteners is not generally an issue in plumbing (unless it's final fix on a bathroom or something I guess?)

It's designed for an electrician running ridged conduit since Klein is first a company for that trade, some sparky tools can come in useful in the plumbing trade as well.

I’m a Knipex diehard but I have to say, with all of the cobra and pliers wrench clones popping up, this at least feels like some exciting innovation. And definitely feels like Klein designed it in their style: US steel, multi-function, more robust. I applaud this! Definitely better than the Icon clone and I can see this working for certain buyers.

Interesting tool, the reversible jaw is very similar to my Irega adjustable wrench, the serrated side is for pipes, not for hex fasteners, only for round objects. But I don't like the handles touching together. Knipex solved this year's ago with a proper pinch guard.. In my experience the multifunctional tools come with compromises. I think the cobra is better, is my most used tool, but when I have to be careful with finished surfaces I use the plier wrench. But I like the adjusting lever on the Klein very similar to my gedore pliers. But I agree with you, on multiple jaw designs, maybe they come up with something more useful. 👍👍👍

I was a career electrician and was exceedingly loyal to Klein. I still like their screwdrivers and many of their traditional pliers. I like their thin jaw and wide opening jaws on their adjustable wrenches. I always passed on their grooved lock Channel Lock pliers in favor of Channel Lock brand... Until I began using Knipex. Knipex is king of this market. Knock offs are still substandard. I will pass on this new Klein as it is too clunky for me and doesn't do either job as well as Knipex. I think they tried to kit a sweet spot for electricians that will settle for one tool. Electricians often don't require pipe wrench torque for pipe and don't require wrench torque for hex fasteners. I prefer tools that do a single job exceedingly well over multi function tools that perform substandard.

I’m looking forward to see what improvements they will make on the reversible jaw. The push button being closer to the handle is much better then Knipex’s push button near the head. But frankly the price is quite staggering. Once a few more improvements are made along with those plastic jaw covers thrown into the mix I could see myself just having two of them to lighten the bag instead of having 2 cobras, 1 crescent wrench, and one pliers wrench.

It's got potential, like a version 1.0, but I won't be getting it until the lower jaw doesn't fall out like that, and the top jaw can also be flipped to cobra.

Think about it, they are designed for electrical work. I used them on ridgit conduits and wow they perform. There is no perfect tool if the user doesn't know how to use it. No insult intended; but you can't use pliers to hold a harded bolt.

But with this tool, the pipe wrench side just doesn't work well enough due to the flat top jaw. For something like really tight pipes, it seems that the pliers would crush it before grabbing properly.

No thanks. I despise gimmicky reversible stuff like this. I like Klein….but not these.

I'm not feeling this inferior Knipex wannabe personally.

    This tool is junk.
I tried this on a 1" pipe. The teeth on the reversible jaw are starting to flatten out.
The push button is only engaged by a mm of material. So now I have a tool where the pipe wrench side has flat teeth that dont grip a pipe.
And a size adjust where I cant stay in the right place for 1" pipe.
    100% junk, DO NOT BUY.
For $50, I expect Knipex quality, not this crap quality.
Just because it is made in America or with US steel does not mean quality.

Looks ridiculous. Klein was trying too hard, went to gimmicky levels.

Good idea by Klein trying to innovate instead of copy but that reversible jaw is about useless unless they can get the stationary jaw to reverse to match tooth geometry. Just poor execution IMO

seems rather pointless.... from the video title I tough´t it was reversible in the sense you could turn it and make the plier into a spreading tool instead of pressing tool... that would have been usefull IMO...

I have the cobras in the Doyle flavor (cause, ya know, they're the EXACT same thing) and the pliers wrench in the Icon flavor. I like the waterpump pliers, but the pliers wrench I think is the most over hyped, over rated thing ever. Almost every instance I've tried them in, I'd rather just have an actual wrench every time. The only thing I've found a use for them is that they open big enough to tighten the jam nuts on my long arms. The Kleins just seem like an even more gimmicky, useless version of both of those.

Knipex are the king of channel locks. Or plier wrench whatever you feel like calling them.

My guess is being Klein is typically an electricians tool, the "half cobra side" is sized with rigid conduit in mind. I have their crescent wrench that has a similar jay design, and it is pretty nice.

The patents expired on the larger Knipex.
So everybody is jumping on something similar.
I believe the smaller ones patents are still in effect.
I've seen 4 versions by other manufacturers.
