Michael - I was never that into the Dead growing up, but Thank you for the deep dives and for giving me a greater understanding and appreciation for them!
maybe for an east coast show but the first time they played darkstar in 5 years was at the greek theater in berkeley earlier that same year. my dad worked for bill graham at the time and said the whole audience went crazy, even after the show everyone in the lot was freaking out about it
After enjoying Michael's channel for a long time I still marvel at how much music theory there really IS and how much of it he knows & can APPLY. My life would have been different If I had him as a teacher years ago!
It’s a weird tune for sure. I didn’t really dig it.. then I went and saw the Grateful Dead in Seattle and they opened with it. It was super appropriate. What wild scene. Actually a great tune to warm up the band and audience on.
Happy subscriber -- lifetime member -- over at Guitargate, and, yeah, this long-time Deadhead is over-the-moon psyched to dive into the new course. Can't wait!
Feels Like A Stranger is my fave show opener from the Dead. Thanks for reviewing this tune Miguel 😀 BTW.. this is the version they put on the Without a Net live album. Recommended!
I barely picked up the guitar about two years ago and I've already felt like I've hit a plateau in my playing, but watching your videos has been what has kept me interested and wanting to learn everything I can. I've been watching your videos before I had even picked up a guitar and the way you are able to immediately pick up any tune or rhythm is just... OH MY GOD! I love your videos and can't wait to see what you breakdown next!
been watching you since beginning of the pandemic. thrilled to see your evolution of understanding here as well as delving a bit deeper into the catalogue. Shirt is cool too! Peggy-O '77 please...Bobby's subtle voice phrasing on that is sublime.
Thank you for going through this tune Michael. I also really enjoyed seeing/hearing Jerry crush that solo. Very groovy all around thanks again Michael!
Your recent top 5 opener video was fun. For.me, Stranger belongs on the list. What an opening progression and first song for a Dead show. Just getting after it!!! Thanks for this and all you do! (PS. Stll looking for the Cornell Lazy Lightning \Supplication) please
My senior year in high school. This tour was lit as fall tour tended to be, and they knew they were going to bring the fire. This was the tour opener and Brent is screaming "gonna be a long long crazy crazy tour"... a week later at Brendan Byrne on Bobs birthday they captured even more magic and the force was the strongest I ever personally witnessed...nightfall of diamonds they called it. It was never the same after 89.
@@Guitargate I don't know if this would work, but I'd love to see what you think of ruclips.net/video/MjYkw_hN21g/видео.html&ab_channel=GratefulDead-Topic . Phil leads the jam towards the end of the song and it's always one of the first stand-out Phil moments that comes to mind.

can you a react video of dead and company's version? eel Like a Stranger (Live at Pine Knob Music Theatre, Clarkson, MI, 6/29/22) this version to be more exact? I'd love to hear your take on the two. Both beautiful in their own ways, yet somehow a completely different feeling song. It's unreal
Hey Michael could you do the 5/9/77 Buffalo set 1 opening Help>Slipknot>Franklins? This show is often overlooked as it’s in the shadow of Cornell but every bit as good. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Side comment - how do you like how the moon white color looks in person? Some pictures it looks more subtle (like here) and others it looks very yellow
Great video of one of my faves!! I like this version, but generally think 1980-81 are the best renditions - raw and inspired playing/vocal jams. Heady version always stacks late 80s/90s shows. (attendee bias). ruclips.net/video/oP4t3YLm4E8/видео.html
Hi Michael, if there's time and opportunity u should react to ALIP_BA_TA with his cover of NUMB (by Linkin Park), I promise you will love it! ---> ruclips.net/video/DjypEPFBLfw/видео.html And after that all his other genius covers! All the best man.
Yes, very much a reflection of the times. I know very little about mixing in any context, studio or live, but they seem a little loud compared to the other instruments and vocals, too. Jerry's guitar sounds beautiful, though.
@@boomerdell I find a lot of those late 80s Dead shows to be oddly mixed at times, and they don’t help by being so dry too, with it just being a direct soundboard recoding with almost zero audience mixed in
It is time to get right with Jesus. nobody is automatically gonna go to heaven at the end of it, we all have lied or stolen or had sex before marriage and the punishment is hell. Jesus died so you can get a clean slate and forgiveness of a future sin when we confess and forsake it. When you start to follow him you have to strive to obey what he commands. Read the Bible!! No one will enter heaven without the blood of Jesus. No other way but through Jesus!!!

Brent tipped the band’s hand. It sure was a “crazy tour”. First Dark Star in 5 years that night!
Lots of talk in the lot if and when that Dark Star would rise again. We walked out that night completely stunned. Attics encore!
And the old man never was the same again ...
Less we forget the Death Don't Have No Mercy 😍
And first Attics in 1082 shows
