    I love how they show the simplest beat I've ever heard Travis play. Out of all the stuff he has they chose this

      I think what happened was this video was uploaded super soon after he was signed to Zildjian. All of his really impressive stuff from that time like his personal "Projects I & II" were recorded with TRX cymbals. They obviously weren't gonna present a new artist who wasn't repping their cymbals lol!

    "I always felt an intrinsic to beat on things growing up; And that manifested itself into beating on desks, and whatever i could get my hands onto."
    I am sure im not the only one who isn't mature enough not to laugh at the last bit of that statement. lololol

    The fill going on at 3:44 and the ending.. holy shit! I hope i could play that fill someday, let alone play anything Travis has written. He is an absolute beast!

    If you're watching this video and don't know who Travis Orbin is, you need to do yourself a favor and go look up his other stuff also. He is unequivocally the cleanest and most technically skilled(and talented, but that's more subjective) drummer I have ever seen.

    The A series brilliant are a saving grace for the Zildjian company. I was about to give up on them and move to either Meinl or Sabian, but I got one of the china's, a mega bell, and now I want some of the crashes. They are bright, fast, and a little trashy, perfect for metal.

    • @waveemann8857
      @waveemann8857 8 лет назад

      +KodRaiN What? I don't understand statements like these. And literally both those companies offer the same types of cymbal lines. If you think Zildjian has a bad catalog other than the A Custom line you really haven't tried all they offer. Most cymbal manufacturers make good cymbals, everyone just has their preferences.

    • @DissYraiN
      @DissYraiN 8 лет назад

      bokunotraplord Zildjian went on a spree where they started really only expanding their entry level cymbal lines. I mean, they were making ZBT, ZHT, ZXT, Planet Z, and the black ZBT's... you only need one entry level sheet bronze line. Meanwhile, other companies, like Meinl, were working on expanding their cast bronze lines and targeting emerging music scenes.

    Just curious: towards Travin: Why not use remote hi-hat cables instead of stands? Like Mike Mangini? Is it personal preference?

    • @TravisOrbin
      @TravisOrbin 10 лет назад +22

      Hi-hat stands still feel better and more direct to me.

    • @TravisOrbin
      @TravisOrbin 9 лет назад +1

      theVulcanGuy I think they're the Puma H-Streets, but I threw 'em out after that tour because they were STANKY haha. I'm back to the Speed Cats, which is what I've worn for years. Classic Vans slip-ons also feel great to play.

    Travis is one of my most fav drummers, perfect technique and setup, was so happy for his zildjian endorsement, but imo darkest hour's music is definitely not Travis' genre, its just too easy for him.

      Tape to mark mic placement.

    Someone help me out; is he left handed or right handed?

    •  6 лет назад

      CR7TheGunner he can play both. There’s a video on his channel explaining how he started playing with that setup.

  • @nathandrums0
    @nathandrums0 10 лет назад

    Is he left handed? I noticed his hi-hat is on the right and he leads with his left foot also

    • @christiandavila61

      He's naturally right handed but plays ambidextrously.

    • @Commissar

      Ambidextrous, hence the open-plan setup.

      TRX Is just what a lot of newer drummers use because they're cheaper, and TRX endorses newer drummers.
