I have never put back or even bought Evaporated milk, I always went with the Powdered Milk, and even that doesnt last 25 years. Its a great idea to check your stock for damaged cans or leaking cans The only recent proplem ive had with my Canned food storage is the Fruits. One of the cans of Pears started to leak bad and other were also starting to leak. For some reason the Canned Fruit doesnt seem to last all that long.

I believe that the manufacturer are making cans weaker and they are changing how you can preserve your food. I had this problem about two weeks ago and I opened a can of dice tomatoes and I noticed that something was not right with the can because I never experienced that before. The can had a strange color and usually when I opened a can of tomato it looks like it's new not like it's been sitting in the cabinet for too long. So definitely the manufacturer are doing these things on purpose to keep people from storing food in case we face a food shortage.
@@nadogrl I haven't heard about steel and aluminum shortage but to let you know that aluminum is not healthy for you. Well there's been a lot of recalled of the food we get in cans as well food packages. Those in power got control of many foods from the manufacturer, they own the companies.
My household has gone through exactly the same thing - our diets have changed, the kids have moved out and I'm starting to discard the oldest of what we no longer eat. I hate to be wasteful but on the other hand I figure it's the cost of food insurance thru the years. If you find a bulging can, not only don't eat it, but don't open it and don't smell it. Botulism is not something you want to touch or breath in. It's pretty nasty stuff. My food storage nightmare was about 9 cans of mandarin oranges and peaches. They never last as long as my other foods. They don't bulge, they just leak out and make a horrid mess. a drippy, horrid mess. That's when I decided to paint my food storage shelves with white, oil-based paint for easy clean up.
I found out about 15 years ago that all mandarin oranges are canned in China (and they tasted like metal). So, I stopped buying them. The other day, my husband found a pop top lid in our basement where some of our food storage is. It was from a can of apple pie filling! How can we trust our canned food any longer if they are being canned in foreign countries. I don't trust the dates, the canning process or much of anything anymore. Every week is another food poisoning.
For me, the take home is to LOOK INSIDE THE CAN after emptying out the contents into a separate bowl, before adding to the dish I am preparing. I will not be able to inventory my canned goods for some time, if ever. Difficult circumstances. But I will certainly check out the inside of the can.
I have only had two types of cans fail. Evaporated milk, which I don't keep very much. The can looked good, but much of the can was empty, and the milk was a chunk. Now I always use a can opener and inspect the milk in the can.The other is a few tomato products with spices and peppers. The cans corroded from the inside, and they weren't very old.

I check mine weekly. Ive had cans explode and bulged on me that werent even expired. So i never store can goods more than a year at a time. I believe food manufacturers have gotten lazy. Not safe at all

I developed some sort of beetle in my food storage area... and if there's bugs, they're getting food somehow. What I found was a tomato can that had busted the side seal (looked like rust rather than swelling as there were no signs of bulging) and of course the little beetles were coming in to get yums. I treated it like it had botulism just to be sure and cleaned and checked everything.
A canned goods plant worker responded to another video like this. He said that the factories have had to switch to thinner metal. Stores can't stack pallets as high because of that.
I believe our whole food system has been compromised from the growing , processing and shipping over the past few years. Incompetency at all levels, corporate on down to janitorial services.
I’ve found there are just some things I don’t use that I thot I would! That is where I’m being decisive about rotating. I’m also reorganizing my pantry.
The distributor of the whole tiger nuts I bought told me that the shelf life was 2 - 2 1/2 years, so I bought a 25 lb. bag. I didn't repackage it, and didn't think there would be any problem After six months, I left on a 6-week vacation, and when I returned, my house was filled with hundreds of moths. They were in every drawer, cupboard, etc. in every room of my house. They ate substantial parts of all my silk, wool and mohair clothing and lingerie, and my wool blankets, totaling thousands of dollars of belongings ruined. That was before I began prepping. I now know better.
Indian meal moth could get into fort knox. It looks like grains of fine sand. Then spiders web in the package. When they get out they have big maggots that climb up the wall onto the ceiling. They don't like herbs but love grains including porridge oats. Oxygen absorbers soon after purchasing prevents the horror show. Love from England ❤️
True, always check but Ive had issues with tomatoe paste/based cans & pineapple in cans. Agree also that integrity of materals in cans are less quality. 😊
Well 4 weeks ago I found a huge nightmare in my food storage. I went downstairs to get something and found that 4 huge shelving units that I had my food on had all collapsed. I figure 1 must have broke and since all 4 were connected, they all came down. I just wanted to cry. It took be days to dig through the piles of food and twisted shelving. One jar of molasses had broke and run across the whole basement floor underneath everything. I jar of spaghetti sauce broke. I had about 2 dozen cans that were dented but other than that, everything else was salvageable. My son came and built me some wood shelves that will absolutely never collapse now. I am slowly organizing and getting things back on the new shelving. I don't want to ever do that again. But making sure I have everything rotated and organized as I am putting things back together.
Jon and Kylene, this is such an important lesson for all of us. I have found bulging cans in the last. Into the trash they went. I didn’t even try opening them. Canned milk is really tricky. I definitely think there is a difference in the quality of the cans from one brand to another, and the big brand name (C*******n) has been the worst, in my experience. They tend to develop little black spots on the bottom outside of the can, and when you open it up, the milk has gone bad from the bottom up.
I have found its best to take the label off of every can just before you open it and double check. I've found dents and rust I hadn't seen before. I also definitely listen for that hiss of air when the can opener is used. I have found a few cans I just didn't trust. ❤️👍🇺🇲
We’ve eaten several “expired” cans of food for years. However what we’ve noticed was that some of the more recent ones have either have been compromised or the quality/taste has not the same. Great video!
We had a bad case of carrots lately. Only 2 yrs old. Still in the case wrapped in plastics. But a few cans started leaking and we noticed the dripping off the shelf.
Theyre really making cans cheap now, I had a can of ed smith pure pumpkin expired by October, it was a few days after the expiry date, and the can was bulging yuck!

We have tons and tons of canned stuff of just about everything and we check it about every 6 months. Only thing we had to go bad was a couple of cans some kind of fruit we had bought awhile back. But, as of yet, we've not found any other failed canned items including any of our home canned stuff, and any cans found with rust on them are then wiped down with mineral oil on a rag. What you have to be so mindful about is the rare bacteria toxin called "Botulism"... Can't be seen, tasted or smelt and its deadly. When in doubt, throw it out! Thank you for sharing.

You mention the color change but realize you are comparing two different brands as you compare. There may actually be no color change to the 06 can. Also the "recipe" may have been different when the 06 can was produced. Around the 8:20 mark
I have found that evaporated milk gets more yellow/orange the older it gets. Not necessarily gone bad, but there does seem to be a direct correlation between color and age, in my experience.
The case of the can milk that had fuzzy around the rim... maybe something got on the can at the packaging plant... just a thought. Oh, i hope you found a use for the cans you opened... lol
New cans are designed like new vehicles. To break down faster than they used to so the manufacture can make more money selling you new ones to break down. Old cans from the 60's are still good in my pantry, while cans I bought 2 years ago have deteriorated. Just remember, there's always re-canning as an option. Or simply canning your own.
I think she's right. I think it's the can that they change the materials. Because I heard there was a shortage of tin and other Materials, there's a shortage of them.They're using different metals and it feels like the cans are getting thinner in the materials and it maybe happening to that we cant store our cans good s longer-term on purpose ?
I have opened a couple of cans of chili that POPPED when I pulled the tab. No question at all, they went in the trash. Am I paranoid? Maybe, but I'm not dead of botulism.
I’m not saying you weren’t correct in this case, but for me living at 5000 feet elevation, I’ve found that altitude also seems to play a part, especially with tomato products. Every single can of tomato paste I open spurts out a little, but they’re fine… just canned at low altitude, I guess.
The first one was before I moved last year. At that time I was at 48 feet. Yes, almost sea level, on the Chesapeake Bay. The most recent ones were here, at 1410 ft.
I don't trust the pull top cans. But i have seen other cans that have burst open either the lid or side seam. I don't know how long or how stored, ( they weren't mine i just had to clean up the mess) i actually too all the cans out of the cupboard and just pitch everything, t person was an extreme hoarder of food.
I guess I’m not a true pepper because I don’t have so much that the cans go out of date or look suspicious. Then again I only stock the items we use on a regular basis and only 3-6 months worth. I never buy whole cases unless it’s soup or veggies. My inventory is probably puny compared to yours.
I did open a 10 yr old can of salmon once and the only thing funky was the label was discolored from age. Those salmon cakes were just as tasty as a brand new can.
I don't keep a huge inventory of cammed foods, just six months' worth at most. About three months before they expire, I donate them to a food bank and replace them. Always rotate your stock, too, I did have a few cans that had expired, by a lot. Had to throw those out, and I hated that.
Most of my foods are from scratch and not commercially canned. I have a few favorites but not a lot. We eat a lot of home bottled and freeze dried foods from our garden. In the fall, our shelves are well-stocked.
I do the same. I only buy foods that we really like, and we use them regularly, so it's more a matter of rotation to keep things from really expiring. In the past, the foods that ended up expiring in our pantry were ones neither of us liked, but they were on sale. I don't do that anymore.
Im in Australia and have to be vigilant with our food storage with heat and humidity issues.l moved a few cans in reorganizing my shelves and stirred up an awful smell....pulled out loads of cans and found a small can of ham was leaking....ahhh! It took days to check all my cans and reload them on my shelves. At least l know lm good for a while now....l hope.

I should rotate more tins there in a difficult place and not easy to get at ,I find tins of rice pudding don't last or Ravioli I don't know why ,I've no tins of rice pudding I do have some raviolis 😰🙏💖🇬🇧
I would worry most about what has gone into the can, such as air, yeast, mold etc, rather than what's coming out (apparently) out of the can. Once the vacuum is lost the contents are not safe to consume.
Toss all of that crap in the trash! A few years ago, I had some Carnation evaporated milk. I only had it for a year or so. I opened it up, and it was so thick it would not pour out-thick like condensed mushroom soup. I ran down to the store and got another can for my pie. During the pandemic, I bought a 32oz Parmalat Lactose Free 2% Reduced Fat Milk. I put it in the refrigerator unopened. It was just a few weeks past the expiration date, and it smelled terrible. If it's milk I don't mess around with it after it becomes outdated. Things like green beans will last. Although if it has dairy in it I don't think it's totally sterilized when they can it. Therefore it won't last. I know people who did a college research project on soda. It is loaded with mold and bacteria.
I have been very careful with canned milk, if I question it, it is trash. I have recanned much of my older canned vegetables and fruit. Even some of prepared foods that were good, but I didn’t want them to spoil. I can watch them closer being able to see what is inside.
I went to open a can of applesauce, the other day. Seals looked good. Can wasn't bulging. But, when I pierced it, with my can opener, it sort of hissed/spit. As I turned the can, I could see a dark spot getting darker and thicker the further I opened it. I got about three-quarters of the way around the top and I saw a furry substance and the top third of product was completely unrecognizable, half think and syrupy and half fuzzy but totally black!
I've thrown out some shelf stable milk that went bad and a few other things that went bad. If any of my stockpile seems off, I throw it out. Better safe than sorry. I still stock canned goods as much as I can.
I've found that Good Value Walmart brand foods are a low quality food, to say the least. I nick named Good Value, "Good Will." There's certain items that are ok but not many. I don't know where this food is processed because I don't trust the information on the label. It might say, USA, then check close. It's the label made in the USA.
I don't have tons of canned goods but have noticed the cans are not lasting so only buy what I need plus a few for soup or whatever. I notice the flip off fruit cans pop if you forget them and ruin everything around them. I have ruined soup by putting in one older can, maybe 3 years old and can taste the metal. They have cheapened the cans for sure, probably trying to poison the poor since thats the stuff they give out at the food banks.
Another great reason to cook from scratch. I make big pots of soups or meals and freeze individual portions. I control the ingredients and it tastes so much better than canned.
I don't see any dents, but dented cans expire sooner, the bigger the dent the sooner it goes bad! I always try to inspect cans for dents before buying them.
I found A. Weird thing and i'm fifty nine years old and I'd never seen it before. I opened up a cam of Sock eye salmon and it had 2 lids. It looked o k it smelled o k I ate it and didn't get sick but that was really strange.

Im strictly organic and the stored food is bio engineered or gmo. On top of that, even befor we started prepping for the apocalypse i rarely used canned food except tomato paste, tomato sauce, canned tomatoes. It breaks my heart to be losing all this money. I live in a small apartmentvandci want my space back. I wanted to put up a tree but for the 4th year i cant. Im 80. Its a choice. The food or enjoying a tree and the joy the decorations gave me. So, you know right now..the food is on its way out the door. What a waste.
It looked to me like most of the cans from that particular brand was showing some corrosion at the point where the lid is sealed. It is probably not as good of a can.
I've been figuring out how the sense of smell is such a survival sense... since I lost my sense of smell with CoVid and it hasn't come back other than extreme, overpowering smells! Give food the "smell test?" Not a clue.
My rule is, anything with tomato products in it three years after date expiration, fruit, five years after expiration, everything else is good until you open it and as you said, if there’s a problem with it, then discard it. I have personally opened canned beans that were 12 years past expiration, no problem, tamales seven years past expiration, no problem. The only thing I’ve had a problem with is fruit.
I bought evaporated milk from Aldi and then were bad inside so I returned them and quit using their brand, my husband used to make food cans and its a lacquer that was used that was probably not baked on the metal their are many things that people don't realize When making a can !
I don't store a lot of canned goods because we bottle a lot of our food from the garden and eat from scratch. The canned milk was a "staple" I've had applesauce and green beans go bad in the past. Also I've seen the inside of tomato cans denigrate and we wouldn't eat those. The tomatoes weren't even to the best-if-used-by date.

Just so you know different brands of condensed are not all the same! Some are more light cream to darker cream color
The pop top lids do not store as long as regular cans.

Excel spreadsheet with # and dates. Oldest in front. Not fun, but works. When 1 month out of date item is moved to a separate area for immediate use.

I developed some sort of beetle in my food storage area... and if there's bugs, they're getting food somehow. What I found was a tomato can that had busted the side seal (looked like rust rather than swelling as there were no signs of bulging) and of course the little beetles were coming in to get yums. I treated it like it had botulism just to be sure and cleaned and checked everything.
Okay, I just had a beetle show up out of nowhere. Now I am going to check my cans that are in a nearby cupboard. Thank you!|!!

A canned goods plant worker responded to another video like this. He said that the factories have had to switch to thinner metal. Stores can't stack pallets as high because of that.
I believe our whole food system has been compromised from the growing , processing and shipping over the past few years. Incompetency at all levels, corporate on down to janitorial services.

The distributor of the whole tiger nuts I bought told me that the shelf life was 2 - 2 1/2 years, so I bought a 25 lb. bag. I didn't repackage it, and didn't think there would be any problem After six months, I left on a 6-week vacation, and when I returned, my house was filled with hundreds of moths. They were in every drawer, cupboard, etc. in every room of my house. They ate substantial parts of all my silk, wool and mohair clothing and lingerie, and my wool blankets, totaling thousands of dollars of belongings ruined. That was before I began prepping. I now know better.

Indian meal moth could get into fort knox. It looks like grains of fine sand. Then spiders web in the package. When they get out they have big maggots that climb up the wall onto the ceiling. They don't like herbs but love grains including porridge oats. Oxygen absorbers soon after purchasing prevents the horror show. Love from England ❤️

Well 4 weeks ago I found a huge nightmare in my food storage. I went downstairs to get something and found that 4 huge shelving units that I had my food on had all collapsed. I figure 1 must have broke and since all 4 were connected, they all came down. I just wanted to cry. It took be days to dig through the piles of food and twisted shelving. One jar of molasses had broke and run across the whole basement floor underneath everything. I jar of spaghetti sauce broke. I had about 2 dozen cans that were dented but other than that, everything else was salvageable. My son came and built me some wood shelves that will absolutely never collapse now. I am slowly organizing and getting things back on the new shelving. I don't want to ever do that again. But making sure I have everything rotated and organized as I am putting things back together.
That was a horrible disaster! Molasses wow super sticky like glue. Hope you didn’t lose too much.

Jon and Kylene, this is such an important lesson for all of us. I have found bulging cans in the last. Into the trash they went. I didn’t even try opening them. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am suspicious of any canned food that looks “off,” and was surprised at the differences with all of your canned products. Blessings!
Canned milk is really tricky. I definitely think there is a difference in the quality of the cans from one brand to another, and the big brand name (C*******n) has been the worst, in my experience. They tend to develop little black spots on the bottom outside of the can, and when you open it up, the milk has gone bad from the bottom up.
I have found its best to take the label off of every can just before you open it and double check. I've found dents and rust I hadn't seen before. I also definitely listen for that hiss of air when the can opener is used. I have found a few cans I just didn't trust. ❤️👍🇺🇲
We’ve eaten several “expired” cans of food for years. However what we’ve noticed was that some of the more recent ones have either have been compromised or the quality/taste has not the same.

We had a bad case of carrots lately. Only 2 yrs old. Still in the case wrapped in plastics. But a few cans started leaking and we noticed the dripping off the shelf.
That's frustrating!
I would always take the plastic covering over them off and take out of the cardboard too. Circulation might keep moisture from collecting?

I just threw away anything that was older than 5 yrs. I feel it has served it's purpose.
Test the fuzzy seam for lead. The fuzz looks a bit like the whiskers that grow on electronic solder joints or uncoated lead cast buĺlets.
It would be great if you talked about how long past the date to use. I would never have kept canned food 18 years old.

Theyre really making cans cheap now, I had a can of ed smith pure pumpkin expired by October, it was a few days after the expiry date, and the can was bulging yuck!

We have tons and tons of canned stuff of just about everything and we check it about every 6 months. Only thing we had to go bad was a couple of cans some kind of fruit we had bought awhile back. But, as of yet, we've not found any other failed canned items including any of our home canned stuff, and any cans found with rust on them are then wiped down with mineral oil on a rag. What you have to be so mindful about is the rare bacteria toxin called "Botulism"... Can't be seen, tasted or smelt and its deadly. When in doubt, throw it out!

You mention the color change but realize you are comparing two different brands as you compare. There may actually be no color change to the 06 can. Also the "recipe" may have been different when the 06 can was produced. Around the 8:20 mark

I have found that evaporated milk gets more yellow/orange the older it gets. Not necessarily gone bad, but there does seem to be a direct correlation between color and age, in my experience.
The case of the can milk that had fuzzy around the rim... maybe something got on the can at the packaging plant... just a thought. Oh, i hope you found a use for the cans you opened... lol
New cans are designed like new vehicles. To break down faster than they used to so the manufacture can make more money selling you new ones to break down. Old cans from the 60's are still good in my pantry, while cans I bought 2 years ago have deteriorated.
Just remember, there's always re-canning as an option. Or simply canning your own.

Because I heard there was a shortage of tin and other Materials, there's a shortage of them.They're using different metals and it feels like the cans are getting thinner in the materials and it maybe happening to that we cant store our cans good s longer-term on purpose ?
I have opened a couple of cans of chili that POPPED when I pulled the tab. No question at all, they went in the trash. Am I paranoid? Maybe, but I'm not dead of botulism.
I’m not saying you weren’t correct in this case, but for me living at 5000 feet elevation, I’ve found that altitude also seems to play a part, especially with tomato products. Every single can of tomato paste I open spurts out a little, but they’re fine… just canned at low altitude, I guess.
The first one was before I moved last year. At that time I was at 48 feet. Yes, almost sea level, on the Chesapeake Bay. The most recent ones were here, at 1410 ft.

I don't trust the pull top cans. But i have seen other cans that have burst open either the lid or side seam. I don't know how long or how stored, ( they weren't mine i just had to clean up the mess) i actually too all the cans out of the cupboard and just pitch everything, t person was an extreme hoarder of food.
I guess I’m not a true pepper because I don’t have so much that the cans go out of date or look suspicious. Then again I only stock the items we use on a regular basis and only 3-6 months worth. I never buy whole cases unless it’s soup or veggies. My inventory is probably puny compared to yours.
I did open a 10 yr old can of salmon once and the only thing funky was the label was discolored from age. Those salmon cakes were just as tasty as a brand new can.
I don't keep a huge inventory of cammed foods, just six months' worth at most. About three months before they expire, I donate them to a food bank and replace them. Always rotate your stock, too, I did have a few cans that had expired, by a lot. Had to throw those out, and I hated that.
Most of my foods are from scratch and not commercially canned. I have a few favorites but not a lot. We eat a lot of home bottled and freeze dried foods from our garden. In the fall, our shelves are well-stocked.
I do the same. I only buy foods that we really like, and we use them regularly, so it's more a matter of rotation to keep things from really expiring. In the past, the foods that ended up expiring in our pantry were ones neither of us liked, but they were on sale. I don't do that anymore.

I prefer powder for long term storage, evaporated milk settles over time and you’ll get 1/2 can of solid milk when kept long term
Im in Australia and have to be vigilant with our food storage with heat and humidity issues.l moved a few cans in reorganizing my shelves and stirred up an awful smell....pulled out loads of cans and found a small can of ham was leaking....ahhh! It took days to check all my cans and reload them on my shelves. At least l know lm good for a while now....l hope.

I would worry most about what has gone into the can, such as air, yeast, mold etc, rather than what's coming out (apparently) out of the can. Once the vacuum is lost the contents are not safe to consume.
Toss all of that crap in the trash! A few years ago, I had some Carnation evaporated milk. I only had it for a year or so. I opened it up, and it was so thick it would not pour out-thick like condensed mushroom soup. I ran down to the store and got another can for my pie. During the pandemic, I bought a 32oz Parmalat Lactose Free 2% Reduced Fat Milk. I put it in the refrigerator unopened. It was just a few weeks past the expiration date, and it smelled terrible. If it's milk I don't mess around with it after it becomes outdated. Things like green beans will last. Although if it has dairy in it I don't think it's totally sterilized when they can it. Therefore it won't last. I know people who did a college research project on soda. It is loaded with mold and bacteria.
I have been very careful with canned milk, if I question it, it is trash. I have recanned much of my older canned vegetables and fruit. Even some of prepared foods that were good, but I didn’t want them to spoil. I can watch them closer being able to see what is inside.
a lot of people actually pressure can canned foods into glass jars which tend to keep better.
I went to open a can of applesauce, the other day. Seals looked good. Can wasn't bulging. But, when I pierced it, with my can opener, it sort of hissed/spit. As I turned the can, I could see a dark spot getting darker and thicker the further I opened it. I got about three-quarters of the way around the top and I saw a furry substance and the top third of product was completely unrecognizable, half think and syrupy and half fuzzy but totally black!

the newer pop top cans i bought do show leaks that in the past was not an issue.. i threw out anything looking odd at the seal. its not worth chance 💀
I've thrown out some shelf stable milk that went bad and a few other things that went bad. If any of my stockpile seems off, I throw it out. Better safe than sorry. I still stock canned goods as much as I can.

I've found that Good Value Walmart brand foods are a low quality food, to say the least. I nick named Good Value, "Good Will." There's certain items that are ok but not many. I don't know where this food is processed because I don't trust the information on the label. It might say, USA, then check close. It's the label made in the USA.

I don't have tons of canned goods but have noticed the cans are not lasting so only buy what I need plus a few for soup or whatever. I notice the flip off fruit cans pop if you forget them and ruin everything around them. I have ruined soup by putting in one older can, maybe 3 years old and can taste the metal. They have cheapened the cans for sure, probably trying to poison the poor since thats the stuff they give out at the food banks.
Another great reason to cook from scratch. I make big pots of soups or meals and freeze individual portions. I control the ingredients and it tastes so much better than canned.

I don't see any dents, but dented cans expire sooner, the bigger the dent the sooner it goes bad! I always try to inspect cans for dents before buying them.

A can of canned milk went bad. Im in the process of throwing away most of my stash..at least a thousand dollars worth. Lots of keystone, natura chicken, and good brand corned beef. Im strictly organic and the stored food is bio engineered or gmo. On top of that, even befor we started prepping for the apocalypse i rarely used canned food except tomato paste, tomato sauce, canned tomatoes. It breaks my heart to be losing all this money.
I live in a small apartmentvandci want my space back. I wanted to put up a tree but for the 4th year i cant. Im 80. Its a choice. The food or enjoying a tree and the joy the decorations gave me. So, you know right now..the food is on its way out the door. What a waste.

It looked to me like most of the cans from that particular brand was showing some corrosion at the point where the lid is sealed. It is probably not as good of a can.
I've been figuring out how the sense of smell is such a survival sense... since I lost my sense of smell with CoVid and it hasn't come back other than extreme, overpowering smells! Give food the "smell test?" Not a clue.

My rule is, anything with tomato products in it three years after date expiration, fruit, five years after expiration, everything else is good until you open it and as you said, if there’s a problem with it, then discard it. I have personally opened canned beans that were 12 years past expiration, no problem, tamales seven years past expiration, no problem. The only thing I’ve had a problem with is fruit.
I bought evaporated milk from Aldi and then were bad inside so I returned them and quit using their brand, my husband used to make food cans and its a lacquer that was used that was probably not baked on the metal their are many things that people don't realize

I don't store a lot of canned goods because we bottle a lot of our food from the garden and eat from scratch. The canned milk was a "staple" I've had applesauce and green beans go bad in the past. Also I've seen the inside of tomato cans denigrate and we wouldn't eat those. The tomatoes weren't even to the best-if-used-by date.
You are wrong about the condensed milk. The lids are not bulging. They issue you are seeing is from spiling over in the canning process.
