I never heard this When I Was Young. My first album bought was The Animals, but didn't hear about this song till I found their NME performance live on RUclips around 2007. That one kicked ass and so does this version.
Their rendition to Shout that comes near the half of Talkin' 'bout You definitely sounds like psychedelic proto-punk to me. This is one of the greatest songs ever.
they out rocked everyone back in the day--Eric howling like a dog in heat--Alan Price pounding the Vox Continental--Chas -John and Hilton having a rockin good time---Great stuff----
Happy Birthday Eric Burdon - This from A Whole Lotta Shakin (later repeated as Don't Knock The Rock) produced by the legendary Johnny Hamp for ITV/Granada in Manchester amid bikers and before Jerry Lee Lewis came on and blew the house down. One of the Top Ten TV Shows ever made
I was 9 years when Iistened this for this time in a dad's old album for first time I was amazed and I love this music. Form a little town called Tequisquiapan Querétaro en México . I fell in love with music with this song and physical graffiti of led zeppelin were the music that reached my father and I'm grateful
Hey, I know Tequisquiapan! I even spent an evening in the beautiful Centro listening to a 2-man blues group. I am moving to Guanajuato maybe in August, and I would like to visit again. They make cheese there, don't they?
I would like to be there, and jump and shout with the great Eric Burdon and The Animals. Ah ah ah ah da da dam da Ah ah ah da dam da da Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah Ah ah ah ah ah ah... I'll say! This cut in particular: early Ray Charles. Eric very successfully copped the style of earlier black R&B artists. That said, they had a great bunch of original tunes that don't owe that much the the R&B stream.
Both great, musically uncomparable though, soul, whisky ,dope, vs psychedelia, crowd manipulation trips, poetry & hallucinagens...the only similarity would be you can swap Ray Manzarek or fun w/ Animals keyboardist
I always get goosebumps listening to this live. There's just something so emotional about it!!!!
Yes
What’s crazy is he was about 17 yet the music was so beyond his years
Simon I think he was about 22 he was born 1941 and this i about 1964 ,but he looks younger
Eric was fantastic and always put 100% into his performances. He had the best rock voice ever!
So true

I watch performances like this from the 60s and mentally put myself there. And every time I'm jumping just as wildly as they are. If only, if only.
Eric Burden - one of the greatest blues singers of all time. What a talent!
Fenomenal. Erick sempre muito bem, em suas performance.
Ele tinha presença de palco.

Heard this song first time, when I was 15 or 16. Now I'm 56 and still love this magic song.
Cuteness overload 😍 Eric ❤
Thanks
You are also very cute 😉
you can see the influence blues had on the rockers of this era.
I'll say! This cut in particular: early Ray Charles. Eric very successfully copped the style of earlier black R&B artists. That said, they had a great bunch of original tunes that don't owe that much the the R&B stream.
Barry Levine and on punk, it’s not polished.
And don't forget gospel influences here as well. Knockout!
I love this band❤️🥺
