Wow we are now above 70K subs! Thank you everyone for your support! When I filmed my first Gallaghers review almost 2 years ago the channel had closer to 7,000 subs. It's amazing how far the channel has come. Thanks again, it would not have been possible without you all!
When I lived in Manhattan back in the nineties, I had been a vegetarian for over three years and began working out at the NYHRC daily. One day I was walking past Gallagher’s and seeing the steak aging in the window, I decided to give up and end my being vegetarian and indulge in a big steak. That sudden surge of protein gave me the best workout that evening, and I never looked back.
@@afridgetoofar1818im 48, 2 years ago i decided to start a boxing workout 3 to 5 times a week, just heavy bag, jogging and jump rope, i then started eating only meat, eggs, apples, bananas, i sometimes have a salad, and i drink tons of milk, i cut out all breads, sweets etc. I'm the healthiest i have ever been, and in 2 years i have a boxers body. I would recommend my diet and workout to anyone and to stick with it you'll be amazed how good you can feel
I hope you're feeling better. The fact you film yourself returning to one of your favourite restaurants is what makes your channel one of my favourites. You enjoy and eat the way we all do - having your favourite spots, nostalgic haunts (you visiting Sbarro brought back many memories for me too - when I was a child, Sbarro at the airport in the UK represented a kind of taste of New York!) and places you've longed to eat in for years. It makes your enthusiasm meaningful, which makes your recommendations worthwhile!
I love your reviews from all around the world. Your review of Gallagher’s describes all the details of the great dinner. I love the way you critique the number of sesame seeds on the bread.
We went to Gallaghers and tried the lunch special for $34. We got the sliced filet mignon and it was very tender and delicious. The lunch special also came with cheesecake and key lime pie, both of them are very good. We highly recommend this place. Thank you UA for doing this video review.
Yo I don’t ever watch anything like this. I’m from Boston. For some reason your cheesesteak reviews showed up on my feed. I watched them. I then made cheesesteaks at home. Now I keep watching your videos. There is something about your voice and how you review food. Whatever it is, it’s got me hooked. Please keep making videos.
I stumbled across your channel earlier in the year when researching restaurants in Vegas and have thoroughly enjoyed your videos since. Something about you and your content is just peaceful, wholesome, and enjoyable. Keep being awesome and thanks for the enjoyment.
'The flexibility of steak and Simone Biles'. I'm impressed, UA ! Congratulations on hitting 70K subscribers. You are only going to get better and better as a food reviewer. But if you ask me, it's your personality we come for, UA. Gallaghers looks like a fine restaurant. Thank you for taking us there. Good food and a cocktail always cheered me up. All the best from Australia !
Sorry you have been down the past couple of days. Glad you had some great food at Gallaghers, but wish you had a better cut. Always love your videos and it brightens my day! Thank you!!
In 1976 a movie by the name of the Gumball Rally hit theaters. I was 15 years old and early in the movie there was a dinner scene that lasted probably 10 minutes set in Gallagher's steakhouse. I wanted to go to Gallagher's for years. I finally went there in the 1980s when I was in New York for business and I haven't been back to Gallagher's since. One of my daughters lives in Brooklyn and I think when I'm up there visiting, I'm going to take my wife to Gallagher"s.
In 1981, my then wife & I ate at "Beefsteak Charlie's" in Manhattan. Their steaks were mediocre AT BEST! By comparison at one-fourth the price, Tad's Steaks, also Manhattan, was AWESOME!😋
@@danielschear556 we loved Tads steak back then. I was a store supervisor and always took our store manager to lunch there when I had a store visit. He loved the place.
@@m.theresa1385 I first fell in love with Tad's Steaks in Cincinnati, November 1959 when I was 11 years old. Back then, they called it "Tad's $1.19 Steaks." For that impossibly low price, you got a charcoal grilled approximately 8 oz T-bone Steak brushed with melted butter, a buttered baked potato with authentic Sour Cream & Chives, buttered char-grilled Garlic Toast, tossed Garden Salad with choice of Roquefort Cheese, Creamy French or Golden Italian Dressings, choice of Soft Drink, Ice Tea or Lemonade and finally for dessert, a nice slice of Fruit Pie. A cup of fresh brewed Coffee was an extra 10 cents...At the dawn of 1960, Tad's price went to $1.29. Then by 1961 it went to $1.39 and rapidly escalated into the $2+ zone in '62 & '63. By the end of the Decade of the Sixties, it was still priced under $5.00. But still, what a deal for such a tasty feast!😋 I often dined at Tad's Steaks for the entirety of the 1960s and never once did I leave hungry nor dissatisfied!👍 Those were the days my friend and we shall never see them again.🥩♨️😭
I first went to Tad's Steak in San Francisco when it was $2.99. I think the last time it was $7.99. The steak was good, but I preferred the Rotisserie Chicken. Curiously, the chicken was more expensive. Huge baked potatoes.
Been there twice and hoping to go there again in February when i return to NYC. Both visits were so good. The ambiance, service and steak were bang on. I just love the place . Hope you're feeling better soon.....Keep going 👍
UA rocks! sorry you've had a rough few days. hang in there buddy! food heals all wounds....or is that time? haha it's def food. keep the vids coming! 👍🏻

Most high end steak houses take their dinner menu steaks out of the fridge at least an hour before service so they come to room temp before cooking.. ordering a dinner item during lunch, they are cooking you a cold steak.. big difference
A steak left out of the fridge for an hour certainly does not come to room temperature. You should look up Kenji Lopez Alt's testing on this. He left a steak out for 2 hours and the internal temp only rose by 10°. That means it went from 40 to 50 when room temp is 70 plus. It's more important to cook a dry steak for a nice sear than to worry about 10° difference in starting temperature.
I work at a high end steakhouse and we cook the steaks straight out of the refrigerator. The difference between 40 degrees and 80 degrees (room temp) literally means nothing when you are cooking the steak on a 600 degree broiler.
@@JohnVCits more important to salt the steaks way in advance like a day or 2, yes in my experience the temp of the meat out of the fridge means nothing. Salt is the only thing that can penetrate the meat, it draws the moisture out then that moisture goes back inside the meat flavoring it. The outside of the meat will then be dry and will have a nice sear. Resting the meat after cooking is also very important, if you cut too soon those juices pour out making the inside dry. Resting the meat 5 to 10 minutes finishes cooking it. Hot butter helps finish
Im a steak snob and I've been to almost every steakhouse in NYC. My friend and I were shocked when we had gallaghers. We didn't know what to expect and thought it would be good but not the best we've had. The service, sides, drinks were also just as good shockingly.

I've only been there once for dinner. Just around my birthday, April 2023. Oh, man... I'll be going back. Cheers.

That steak looked great! Maybe you got the $32 steak option? Only way to check would be to come back for lunch to try the full menu option or dinner....which I'm guessing is even more expensive. Is it worth doing that? Doubtful. Key Lime Pie....yum! Will I ever get to Gallagher's in NYC? Probably not. but it's cool to have options to tell others. Excellent video UA. I ate at Gallegars steakhouse in NEw York and Las Vegas. If you're ever in Las Vegas try Mastros steakhouse. Really good steak ..😁👍
Another great review on your road to that silver play button! Gallagher's is consistently one of my favorite, and I often eat at the bar, or even just pop in for a cocktail. Different cuts take different to dry aging, were you comparing this experience to another time you had ribeye, or a different cut? Anyway, hope it cheered you up, I know it would me!
I don't mind paying $60-$70 for a premium steak at a restaurant, but it annoys me that that doesn't include a side dish like a baked potato or a side salad. Good call on the key lime pie. They are rarely done properly, but when they are good, they are my favorite pie.
I recommend a pub on the border of Yonkers and the Bronx it's called Rory Dolan's I've eaten there many times I really like their steak and their leg of lamb maybe you can try them
Hey UA, I think you might like Rocco's steakhouse at 72 Madison Ave. This spot is a classic in that area. Give it a shot because I think you will enjoy the ambiance and service!😊
Would you do a review at Jeff Ruby's steakhouse they have the sear on their steaks of any steakhouse and their service is probably the best you'll get at any restaurant and their mac n cheese is to die for.
The wedge salad looks phenomenal, but IMO it needs some balsamic vinaigrette. The combination of bleu cheese dressing and balsamic vinaigrette is the way to go.
There's a chain steakhouse in Quebec called Riverin. It is not licesnsed so you have to take your own beer, wine or booze. They did cook my steak rare as I asked. That bar looks good, I would have taken advantage of it! Rousseau is a beautiful 200 yr old bar in Montmagny.
I love your vids and the showcasing of various restaurants. I must say I hate watching people eat on video though. I'll never be one of those people who pay to watch it lol. aside from that, my experience with that spot is I was kinda disappointed with a couple of things. I too sat at the bar and waited, and waited, and waited and waited some more. When I finally ordered, the bartender ( who was NOT as congenial as the one in the vid) HIGHLY recommended the potato leek soup. I ordered it as well as the lunch special and waited....longer than any restaurant I've EVER been . It was really painstakingly long. for no apparent reason either. The filet was ok, but I'm more of a rib guy . But the steaksauce, which I NEVER usually use ,was absolutely delicious. So much so that I asked for the recipe. ( I later found it on line too) as I waited again painstakingly for my dessert, when it finally ame at a comically late time I asked to take it to go as I REALLY needed to leave . I NEVER anticipated being in anywhere so long. From your review, in every way the ribeye doesn't seem worth the repeat trial. The sauce did pair well with the filet.when I did eventually get my dessert,( I think I got the key lime too) although good ,it was not at the top key lime list in my opinion. I really want to like this place ,but my experience was kinda mezza mezza.
UA, Key Lime Pie is one of the simplest deserts you can make, especially if you aren't trying to make a high end pie. I use Santa Cruz bottled lime juice and a store bought crust and it takes great. I'm making one in a day or two as it's one of the few deserts I can get right. I do make my own whipped cream though rather than using the canned stuff because whipped cream is also really simple to make. If you're willing to juice limes, use regular limes instead of key limes. Key limes cost more, have very little juice, and the ones that aren't actually grown in the Florida Keys are really bitter.
UA, you might want to try Bobby Vans at 46th and Park. Always good quality and consistent. On a sidebar, the crab cocktail appetizer (I know its not steak), is one of the best in the city
Living in NYC, I've been to all of them (except for Spark's). I love Gallagher's, but because I am more of a porterhouse guy (love that switch up from strip to filet), I tend to prefer Keen's Steakhouse. But that is no knock against Gallagher's. Both excellent! One thing I'd like to try at Gallagher's, which I've also heard is excellent, are their Maryland crab cakes. But when I'm in a traditional steakhouse, it's difficult to be unorthodox.

Please try oji mi its one of my favs in nyc. Korean fusion, get the oji bowl and the barbecue squid
