On the one end, yes, there are a lot of videos spamming dislike and hate videos about Rings of Power. And it is a lot. But on the other end, they are more entertaining than the show itself or the marketing material. And I honestly can't get enough of them. When I feel down or depressed those videos ussually lift my spirits.
It is very entertaining, but I can't help but feel that these videos would be so much better if the creators took a few days to process everything that was said and think through what they're going to say. In my experience, the information they went through started to get really repetitive, and I'm not really immune to that either. This video was kinda rushed out after I finally realized I would be doing it this way, and I think that compared to the last one it's nowhere near as good.
@@thejollyviking8083 I have to agree. If they did less spam and more thinking and idea building in between, that would be better. Now it is indeed more like; A video saying that the trailer has 40k dislikes. Then the next day a video about the same video now having 60k dislikes. Like yeah, I get it.
It is a little more than a bit soul crushing to see that Tolkien's work is now going to receive the same treatment that most other works and franchises have been subjected to. Haven't seen the show yet, but hopefully the soul crushing is only mild. We shall see. Thanks for your thoughts on this! Hopefully we get a video about what you think about the finished product as well.
I'm currently in the process of making it now. Script is done, so I'm hoping to get it out by the end of the day. We'll see how well that works though.
So, technically this video was supposed to come out a few days ago rather than the release day of the show. I feel like I'm at a disadvantage here since I didn't get to see the early premieres and so now everyone has already watched the reviews of the first couple of episodes. Oh well. Also, I wanted to apologize for the lower quality of the recording, especially towards the end. Hopefully I'll get better with this as time goes one. If you have any suggestions for how to do the next few reviews, I'm all ears. - Leif
I'm a little too sad right now to articulate my thoughts and frustrations about Amazon's hijacking of Tolkien but I'm very grateful for your thoughts and want to leave a like and a comment for the algorithm.
I enjoy Leif (so?) and there are some interesting things here. It became easier to stomach once I realized he was talking about all this prior to witnessing the abomination, so I can’t get too frustrated with the intro. Still, it will be a lot easier to watch the video if you don’t insult your potential audience from the start. Readers of Tolkien don’t want to play the semantics game in order to set a point of intellectual superiority- cannon/lore/mythology: we all know what is meant. And no matter what Tolkien’s intentions may have been, a warrior boss with modern feminist sensibilities and an abrasive attitude was never what he was going for. In the end, Season 1 is all the evidence i need to suggest all those videos the algorithm spit your way were spot on.
Fair enough, I probably could have worded things much more diplomatically, but at that point I had just come from a summer of people making a series of dogmatic statements about Tolkien's works which were largely (if not entirely) inaccurate. I was really annoyed, just not as annoyed as I was at Amazon and the show runners, which is why I wanted to get that out of the way first and then deal with the rest of it. To be clear, I wasn't saying that they were wrong to criticize the show, or that I thought the show would be a good adaptation of Tolkien, I was offering pushback (which, in hindsight, probably just made this video go unnoticed) against what I thought was a problem with everyone's need to talk about something the second it came out.

Yeah that pretty much sums up how I felt going into the show. Oh boy, the final product was something else.

Well said

Are your brothers real people or comic personas?
