I’ve been flying helicopters for thirty years. Starting helicopters is easy. (The entire start procedure is in the engine starting checklists.) It’s flying helicopters that’s hard, especially when it comes to the landing part. Btw, nice APU start in this video.
Yeah, I’m an air traffic controller in the army, I don’t know much about starting/flying aircraft, but I do know that if the content of the video was a close guarded secret, it wouldn’t be here 😂 so many keyboard warriors on here
I wonder if they could maintain in a limited capacity. They might not have all the features but a helicopter with some guns is formidable against groups who only have some small arms.
@@monkemode8128 I doubt it, the amount of maintenence that the US' fancy toys require is insane. Even their service weapons need far more maintenance to keep working right than something like the AK. Hell the reason behind the creation of the AK and similar weapons was because the soviets knew that their men (and peasant revolutionaries in other countries) weren't going to maintain their gear properly so they needed something that can go without it for a long time. Somehow I doubt the Taliban is anymore disciplined than that.
@@monkemode8128Probably not. Rotor/engine wear and blade damage would take their operational toll fairly quickly, as would issues like hoses breaking and a Blackhawk needing specific engine fluids and lubricants that aren't likely to be readily available. Even putting aside the risk to passengers from sketchy maintenance, such maintenance also reduces the tactical effectiveness of the helicopter, because its reliability concerns make it riskier to base a strategy around.
And the Red Cross... which always begs the question... why does an institution based on public funding pick the most expensive helicopter for their air operations?
@@eustacequinlank7418 The military uses congress and congress uses corporations and we fund corporations trough buying products... It's a bit more of a loop from a donation model, but basically... Whats really hilarious is by the time they figure out how to fly the things left behind they will need maintenance and will break down super quick without it. Blackhawks are super intricate machines, the military doesn't have like 20 member crews servicing helicopters for no reason.
Helicopters in general are intricate, maintenance-heavy machine. I recall my AME instructor telling us how a Bell 206 crashed at a mining exploration base he was working at in the Arctic. The maintenance crew used the wrong alloy tubing for a fuel line repair because they didn't wanted to wait for a proper replacement to ship up from Edmonton. It crashed 2 weeks after the repair. The chopper's vibrations had work hardened and embrittled the unapproved tubing, and it cracked from the fatique.
A total of 73 aircraft, nearly 100 vehicles and other equipment were abandoned by US troops as they pulled out ahead of the 31 August deadline. But US Central Command head Gen Kenneth McKenzie said it had all been rendered impossible to use. "Those aircraft will never fly again," he said.
"Resourcefulness is what the Ukrainian army is using to successfully defeat the Russian army. What makes you think that anyone who has access to these kinds of war materials can't do the same. I see here on YT every day how a bunch of backward looking guys in a "shop" that is our of the Dark Ages fix motors and other things. We Americans just junk our broken things as it's too expensive to repair them. They end up in junk yards that are bought as scrap by foreign countries. From there the scrap is turned into usable things. If you have 4 aircraft that don't work, you cannibalize one or two to make one fly.
Having working with heavy machinery for a while now I feel like that stuff shouldn't be that hard to break, especially with the tools they had on hand.

It’s not necessarily “winning”, just lasting long enough for the enemy’s population to get tired of it and force the issue. When it’s your home and you have soldiers who don’t want to be there, that’s the smart play. Just low level extended fighting, enough to send the message but not enough to warrant an outcry. Unless you are going to go 100% in, then you shouldn’t invade/go to war. You can’t do it with one foot in and expect to win.

Oh yeah we have them access to GCSS
