Oh, thank God! They changed the song to something nonsensical when streaming it on Peacock and I couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be! This is funny
my fav ga from cheers and it would be lost forever if not for you. thank you. Gonna edit this audio into the real episode. I had to do that with wkrp. only missing 2 or 3 original songs! So many episodes of so many shows ruined by this...
It was different on the DVD too. The didn't get the rights to the song in perpetuity. Good to hear Paramount was able to get it back, the scene didn't make a whole lot of sense without it.
First time I watched this show on Netflix it had this song, I just got to this episode again on Netflix and it's got the back in county again song... Damn rights negotiations
Ok this is a million times funnier with a song that actually fits the situation. I don't know what song they play on my DVD set but it sucks, can't even understand the lyrics.
can anyone tell me the replacement song on the dvd? I heard it was called "back in county again". I remember the lyrics "sick sad situation thought I could take it now I'm just sitting here (rotting away?). for a while baby........" then "I'm just sittin' here incarcerated, for a while I really thought I could handle...."
I just watched this scene on tv and they replaced the song with something else. I’m trying to figure out what the song they used as the replacement. Sounded like a punk rock song from the 90s.
+Tigers 792 I played the DVD and tried the song identification app I have on my phone. It does not recognize the song. I don't know the song either but hopefully someone else will.
Paramount completely destroyed the DVD reissue of this series. They did an equally horrible job with Tales From the Darkside, all the more unfortunate given the relative lack of airplay that show experienced at the time of the DVD release. Every episode of Tales on the Paramount DVD collections has new music; the theme and end music is intact, but the episode music has been changed. When will Paramount wake the hell up and realize that this is frustrating to fans who GREW UP with these shows?!?
spb 78 At less Netflix had THIS version on the episode on it. I don't know why the DVDs wouldn't have it and Netflix would but I'm just glad they didn't change it. Been watching all of them starting at season 1 to the end.
I hate when songs used are changed ...once used the original should remain. They did the same with a scene using "Those Were the Days" and "Monster Mash" in other Cheers episodes
@@bigbubba29 They dont to re-pay for the rights to re-use those songs. So they get cheap sound alikes. Same thing happened with the WKRP in Cincinnati reruns.....
0:44 That little laugh and facial expression gets me every time 🤣😂
One of the funniest scenes in the history of this great show!
Robin fought the law, and the law won!
Bobby Fuller would laugh and love this if he were still alive. Bobby Fuller forever!
Favorite Kirstie Alley Cheers moment. R. I.P Kirstie EFF cancer.
I fought laughter and laughter won.
Oh, thank God! They changed the song to something nonsensical when streaming it on Peacock and I couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be! This is funny
How do classic Cheers clips like this only gave thousands of views? Should have millions.
The little radio that Sam had was a nice touch. I still laugh when I see him carrying it while playing "I Fought The Law".
It's hysterical, for sure.
😂.You got that right.LMAO on that scene.
my fav ga from cheers and it would be lost forever if not for you. thank you. Gonna edit this audio into the real episode. I had to do that with wkrp. only missing 2 or 3 original songs! So many episodes of so many shows ruined by this...
Hilarious scene from a great show.
the sneaky weasel, he used the boombox the whole time 🤣 that’s great planning!
I always thought my dvd version of this scene seemed a bit 'crappy', now I know why.
Changed the song. Terrible.
They changed the song for Hulu. But they use the song on Paramount+. This scene is so funny! 😂
I am so glad it's intact on Paramount+.
It was different on the DVD too. The didn't get the rights to the song in perpetuity. Good to hear Paramount was able to get it back, the scene didn't make a whole lot of sense without it.

Dave Cobb It’s so fucking stupid. I wish the bastards would stop.
LOL! I love that scene! Thanks.
~Steve B.
This is the PERFECT song to describe Robin Colcord! Funniest part in the history of the show!!!
And George Floyd too
LMAO Ted and Kirstie had the best chemistry, man! R.I.P. Ms. Alley! Loved Rebecca Howe.
Best scene of Cheers EVER!!!
It's a shame they changed the song on the DVD, really ruined the joke.
I'm guessing it had something to do with getting the rights to the song. That's why they changed the beginning song in "The Wonder years" too.
What is the song they changed it to?
Michael Richmond Jr then you own a old set or got it from a different distributor
@@jerseyjoe1677 The DVD I bought when it came out it wasn't this song. It was some replacement shit.
Christian Hafer that sucks
Ok this is a million times funnier with a song that actually fits the situation. I don't know what song they play on my DVD set but it sucks, can't even understand the lyrics.
What song did they replace "I Fought the Law" with?
@@bigmetroidfan1263 Some song called "Back In County Again". That's the only information I have.
THANK YOU
Good news, it's back on streaming versions
I just watched a re-run of this on TVGN and it was all there. As it should be!
I like that song. They play that on man of the house now that is a good movie.
Fucking great 😭
can anyone tell me the replacement song on the dvd? I heard it was called "back in county again".
I remember the lyrics "sick sad situation thought I could take it now I'm just sitting here (rotting away?). for a while baby........" then "I'm just sittin' here incarcerated, for a while I really thought I could handle...."
THANKS FOR THIS! I was watching the syndicated version and was appalled at the ruination of one of my fav cheers jokes...damn copyright nonsense!
Just saw this episode and the song was changed. Does anyone know what song they substituted it with??
@Jritty1 - I have it on VHS somewhere. I am not 100% sure where the tape is but if I find it, I will try and get it on here.
I can think of at least one episode where Sam acted like Becker - Bad Neighbor Sam
So on Netflix they replaced this song does anyone know the song that they replaced it with?I can’t find it anywhere driving me crazy.
It's called "Back In County Again". That's all I know.
I should play this for my former work supervisor. Unfortunately, he and I had a "Falling Out" after he retired.
Shout! Factory needs to re-issue "Cheers" sans music edits.
SAM IS THE MAN!!!
I just watched this scene on tv and they replaced the song with something else. I’m trying to figure out what the song they used as the replacement. Sounded like a punk rock song from the 90s.
Too bad they couldn't get the rights to the song for the DVD release. That version just has generic music and it totally ruins the joke.
I watched the dvd version first. What is the name of the song on the DVD version? Sounds like a good song, but I just can't place it.
+Tigers 792 I played the DVD and tried the song identification app I have on my phone. It does not recognize the song. I don't know the song either but hopefully someone else will.
The DVD version plays a different song than is in this clip. This clip does have 'I Fought the Law" by Bobby Fuller.
Did you find out that other song? Can't seem to find out!
Tigers 792
Yeah they ruined it by changing the song
But now I want to know what the new song is
Tigers 792 did you ever find the name to that song?
Best part when Sam stabs the cops foot with that poker and gets arrested while Rebecca fires up the boombox
I just watched this on Peacock and the changed music completely ruins the scene. What a shame.
I still wonder why they changed the music on the reruns
@myrnaturner You are welcome! Someone also told me that Netflix has all the episodes unedited if you watch them instantly.
they're unfortunately edited now
Looks like Netflix changed to the song now too. I just watched it last week and tried using Shazam to figure out the song and I could not find it.
The Clash. But that doesn't sound like the original song.
Yes Netflix changed it just like with monster mash in the bar wars episode
Clark Kent I was going to say, I knew this was on Netflix.
@@jfalconredskins I fought the law isn't a Clash song, it's Bobby Fuller. Clash covered it, but the version used is the original.
@@jhew6999 That's true, I did not know that.
Classic
Did anyone here find out the original song??
@Jeff Rittenour - It is in the process of uploading now. I had found it but needed to convert it. It should be up soon! Just check my page.
Sam looks so frumpy with his shirt tucked in his pants like that
@johnyringoz - Video Home System (VHS) or a video cassette.
any word on posting the second part - where Sammy gets busted? thanks!!
They changed the music on the dvd, annoying because I watched this version first.

+Steinerecliner Netflix has the alternate song from this clip, not "I Fought the Law".
I watched it more then once on Netflix and this is what plays.
+Steinerecliner Which country are you watching it in? Because if it's in the United States, then go back to Netflix and listen.
it was replaced badly, there were times where you were able to hear the original song and then the replacement song was there
Get down Sam.
They also changed the monster mash song also
It's a different song on Netflix
I thought the jukebox only played Monster Mash.
Cheers reruns aired on the male-oriented Spike
Spin-off Frasier reruns aired on the female-oriented Lifetime
How's that for irony?
the hilarious thing is that me and my dad (i'm also a male) like Cheers better and my stepmom prefers Frasier
Why is that ironic? Was Cheers originally created for, or mainly watched by, a female audience, and vice versa for Frasier?
That's not actually irony. Really just a somewhat interesting fact.
I hate when songs used are changed ...once used the original should remain. They did the same with a scene using "Those Were the Days" and "Monster Mash" in other Cheers episodes
Netflix ruined this scene
And the bar wars episode too with monster mash they played vampire twist ruined that too
it wasn't Netflix's fault, it was CBS DVD's fault too, they're the ones responsible
SpacemanDoug Why would they do that?
Alex Bogue Because they’re cheap.
@@bigbubba29 They dont to re-pay for the rights to re-use those songs. So they get cheap sound alikes. Same thing happened with the WKRP in Cincinnati reruns.....
I just watched on Paramount+ and they replaced the song with something else. It spoiled the entire scene for me.
Funny
0:52 Eighties trollface?
Cheers was about jumping the shark at this point. The whole Robin Colcord character was lame.
I’ve been the show on Pluto, but for some reason when they have this episode, they don’t have that song don’t know why I wish they would
