Btw, to avoid gas pain my nurse told me to never lay down flat. I've been sleeping with pillows behind me and never turning into my sides and standing up and slowly sitting back down and it's helping with the gas a lot, it still hurts but it's a lot better than at first.

I've had about 10 laparoscopic surgeries and I can tell you, they are all painful. I love it when doctors think they know how much pain you are having. Pain varies person to person. It's not a democracy where majority wins. Just because some people say it's not that painful doesn't mean the next person won't be in significant pain from the exact same procedure. Sadly this has led to people having to suffer and be in agony because some doctor thinks otc pain meds will be sufficient pain relief for everybody. I have never and will never have a surgery where my doctor and I have not fully discussed post op pain control. And if a doctor were to tell me that they will not be prescribing what I deem sufficient, I will go find a different doctor. Drug addicts be damned..there's no reason anyone in this day in age should have to fight for pain relief.

I just got 2 incisions from laparoscopy to treat endometriosis YESTERDAY and I already walked 2 miles and haven't taken any painkillers. It's been a little painful, but not enough to take meds. I just walk slow and honestly I've been functioning and doing everything normal already. I feel great! 24 hours after surgery, I already went to the hair salon and dyed my hair LOL But I should note that I am a generally very healthy 22 year old already... if you have other health conditions, you may heal differently.

Yes, it can be painful for sure. The abdominal gas pain against the diaphragm hurts and makes deep breaths difficult. Your shoulder and neck will hurt due to irritated nerves in your abdomen and diaphragm. I’m on the day after surgery and still in a fair amount of gas pain. It sucks.

I had a laparoscopic nephrectomy 17 days ago, I was discharged 30 hours after surgery so I could go home to recover (much better place to be), the shoulder pain from the gas is very uncomfortable and took 2-3 days to dissipate. As for pain and discomfort that is very subjective (everyone has their own threshold), I used paracetamol to alleviate the pain and yesterday had a minor bleed/weeping so had to go to my GP surgery to have a dressing put on the main incision area. But healing is going well, I still look like I’m about to have twins but the bruising has reduced dramatically. Many thanks to all the staff at Exeter NHS Wonford. 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️

I could walk, dress, bend down, take a shower on the second day.
I didn’t have any soar throat from the tubes inserted down my throat.
The gas in the stomach and the bloating is the uncomfortable part for me.
And because of that, it feels uncomfortable sleeping flat on the bed, so I sleep on my sofa which has a bit of an incline , that way my back is a bit uplifted.

Or can ones 4.5cm or smaller like that come out whole?I feel the benefits of the laparoscopic procedure are nullified if there is a risk of cancer spreading and winding up with a stage IV and then you're out of luck. THEMBISLE Msiza .... hey Msiza, as stated above I had surgery last Tuesday and it is now day 5 of recovery. I was able to resume normal activities (besides sex) on day 4. The first two days after surgery I had soreness in my rib/ abdominal area when breathing because of the CO2 gas. Currently there is little vaginal spotting and minor pain around the incisions depending on my movements. Otherwise I feel great. My surgery consisted of laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and D&C. Also this has been my 3rd laparoscopy surgery in over a span of 20yrs, so the recovery I’m experiencing seems normal to me.... During recovery I would suggest deep breathing exercises every so often (even though it hurts), hot tea or broth for any throat pain, and short distance walks (from one room to another) throughout the days....Try not to rely on meds for the pain (but I know everyone pain tolerance is different), I took naproxen for the first 2 recovery days then no more afterwards, I was also prescribed Percocet which I didn’t even bother to get filled. I hope this was helpful, good luck with your surgery and recovery
