  • LAPAROSCOPY SURGERY RECOVERY TIPS!
    ---------------------------------------------------
    Hi guys!
I wanted to film this video to share with you some tips & tricks I discovered when recovering from my second laparoscopy/hysteroscopy surgery a few weeks ago, & let you know what worked for me.
After a not so great recovery following my first lap surgery 2 years ago, I tried a few things differently this time round & had a much easier recovery- hoping some of these things can help make a difference for you too!
Of course, everyone is different & every case is different, but I hope some of these suggestions will help speed your recovery process along too!
Much love to each of you & best wishes for a wonderful 2018 :)
Love, light & baby dust xo

Got some tips to add, massager for shoulders is painful but really helped.
For the abdominal pain, try breathing with your stomach (pushing the stomach out as you breathe in). It feels very strange at first but it'll help with the gas to get out quicker.

Tim and Celeste im drinking 2 cups of chamomile tea a day & 2 charcoal caps every 4 hours. Im currently 8 days post op and very annoyed. I can’t sleep comfortable or eat what i want cuz i get constipated. I’ve been crying & screaming everyday. The gas is making me itch & i think it spread to my legs. I heard charcoal can make you constipated. Im not too sure how true that is & im trying to get rid of this gas so fast that i think im harming myself. I think i have an electrolyte imbalance or im drinking too much water because my urine is crystal clear and im constantly getting headaches. Plus idk what to eat because everything gets stuck where my incisions are so i drink tea or water to help it pass. Idk what to do, im losing it!

Just be very very very careful with activated charcoal. I am an ER nurse and we give it to patients with drug over-doses because it binds to the drugs in the digestive system and hopefully inactivates the drugs in their system. That means if you take this, it might inactivate the pain meds or other important medications you are taking. Personally, I would recommend staying away from this one--especially if you are taking any important medications. However, if you are NOT taking any other medications, it might be worth trying.

    Thanks for sharing.
I’m currently almost 48 hours post op. Had an ovarian laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
Feel really fine other than a tiny bit sore on my belly button and the hole where they took out the cyst.
Wish I’d known about the sleeping upright part. Suffering from horrendous shoulder pain since late yesterday. Every time I breathe it hurts like broken ribs and I get a sharp stabbing pain in my shoulder, and I have a high pain threshold.
Just sent my hubby out for charcoal, but I’m drinking peppermint tea and snacking on prunes.
Belly button is a bit sore but every other feeling is overtaken by the shoulder pain. Man, I was warned but it’s hectic! Now lying propped up and waiting for the charcoal to arrive.......... :-)
Goodly k to anyone else about to have an op x

I started watching this video right as I chose to lay down for the first time since being discharged and thought "oh, I should be on my back so the gas isn't forced to one side." That VERY MINUTE I got to the part where you talked about sleeping vertically and never on your back. I immediately got into a vertical position and had the worst gas pain in my shoulders. I couldn't really think through the pain but you were going on about a heating pad so I grabbed my husband's and started pacing the kitchen. I've burped like 4 times and the pain is back to where it was (mild) Finding this video at the ABSOLUTE PERFECT TIMING was a complete Godsend. Thank you.

How long did it take for the carbon dioxide/nerve pain to go away? I just had surgery yesterday and it is excruciating. It hurts every time I take a breath due to the carbon dioxide moving around while my lungs inflate. Thank you for all of the tips I’m going to try sleeping elevated tonight since I feel suffocated if I lay flat.

Just wanted to point out something I found out about activated charcoal. It can really reduce the efficacy of medicines ( it’s actually used to remove paracetamol/acetaminophen from the body after an overdose on these). Did you take this into account when you started taking them? Just wondered if it affected your drugs or if spacing out when you took them helped with that.

    • @TimandCeleste

I had this surgery a week ago now, my back hurts because I’m a side sleeper and no mater wich side I lay on it hurts ☹️ the soreness where my ovary was is quite annoying, but I’m going to try the heat pad at night and during my naps! I also try not to take medications because I don’t like to so I’ve been taking Ibuprofen when needed. And I feel like my emotions were a bit rocky thought that was a bit odd. This video is super helpful. (my ovary story is quite a weird one)

Best wishes on a speedy and full recovery!! My surgery was three weeks ago. My ovaries were the only thing I actually kept. I highly recommend heat therapy to help with pain. In my own experience, it really helped. I did have to take a narcotic for the first few days since it was difficult to maintain my pain in hospital. The normal drugs they use in your IV do not work for me. The gas pain was TERRIBLE for me. I also had a bladder sling and a vaginal wall repair at the same time, so that may also be why I had such severe pain in the beginning. Also, they had to put my Foley back in because I was unable to empty my bladder on my own the first few days. Lucky me, I got to take my Foley home for two days. I think that also had something to do with my pain. One other thing, I was not able to sleep after coming out of the anesthesia. I still have tenderness and occasional discomfort but no real pain. My biggest problem is making myself take it easy. Well, that and the utter boredom. Just when I felt up to walking at the park a front came through and it rained for a few days plus the temps dropped about 20-30 degrees. So it put a damper on my walks. It's a bit depressing because I have gained 10 pounds over the last two weeks 😢. I know I should be able to take it off when I'm able to get back to exercise and working. I'm so glad to see the post hysterectomy exercise videos and watch/listen to ladies on here who can offer good advice. It helps me not feel so alone with all this. Take care of yourself. Happy healing 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Besides the air trapped I don’t have any other pain, going to bathroom just to pass air is painful as hell , i feel like the surgery was in my behind. The other thing that help me is a binding wrap type of thing I bought in amazon , hugs you is womderful.

After surgery my mistake was not sleeping in a setting position then the gas caused a severe pain in my left shoulder that I wasn’t able to breathe well and I wasn’t able to cry cause it’s too much pain that moment I really wanted to die believe me it was huge pain and short breaths .. but my nurse was very helpful and caring she advised me to sleep in setting position which helped me too much to reduce the pain as gas goes down.

I am on week 3 post op from removal of ovarian cyst surgery...I am still sore, from getting up from bed or pulling my car door, or bending down, have a very busy 3 yr old. Was only able to rest two weeks then had to move a little more every day, this week I had to start driving didn’t have an option.. but my body still seems sore and tired, especially if standing for a long time...do you think is normal to feel my body still sore around incisions?

The worst part for me is that my skin hurts. A few inches below my belly button, and not even on an incision, for a few inches across my skin is so very hypersensitive. The only thing I can compare it to is when you have a splinter and you run your finger over it, it makes the whole area around it hurt (not deep... just the skin.) it started 8 days post op and i'm 10 days now. This is by far the worst part.

Talk to your nurses and hopefully you'll get reassurance. It sometimes happens, really depends on the anaesthetic used and how you react to it. Which you can't tell until after the surgery. I had one GA in the past (dental surgery), no nausea after. With my laparoscopy, I did have some nausea but I told the nurse and got an antiemetic through the IV cannula. Thankfully due to fasting there is not much that will come up anyway!
All the best for a successful surgery and recovery, sending lots of positivity your way!

I went into theatre as fit as I could possibly be, and I believed that helped. 24 hrs after the surgery, i was doing laps of the ward, I had a little diaphram pain from throwing up(which is normal for me) but no real wound pain. I'm sitting here day 5, feeling great, soreness has gone, just have a couple of scratches on my chest that are healing well. I'm walking a couple of km a day, not pushing hard but a good clip.I was a little sore diaphram wise, not pain as such but stiffness like at night in the cold air. So I can only say, the better condition you are in, the fast your body expells the C02. BTW post op you have to move, get walking. Once you start farting, that the sign your bosy is expelling the Co2. Hope this helps. key word....Pre-hab.....just as important as re-hab.

The doctor said Co2 is expelled through the lungs, not the intestines.
