- Hello Flosstube! Today is a wonderful DMC floss storage system and organization find using floss bags. Is it a full set? I've been wondering how to organize my DMC cross stitch embroidery floss and my Dad found these filled drawers at an estate sale. Come along as we take a look inside! I'm Joanne, the Story Stitcher, and I'm so glad you're here.

Thank you for stopping by! It was so fun to share and I'm enjoying getting organized 😊
What a find!!
I feel so grateful!
Oooo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼What a fantastic find! Love the oak chests❤❤What fun it will be to organize and add to your stitchy nest😊
Sarah, I am so excited about it! You are sooo good at the things you find at the "dump" and thrift stores. I love watching your haul :)
Wow! That was a great find! I love how your dad always has an eye open for his girls!❤❤❤❤
He does indeed, Ginger! So sweet of him! I'm really glad you enjoyed looking through the floss with me today.
What a score! Yay for Dad and lucky you❣️🙌🏻 may have to research a recent version of this, loving the ease of it!
I'm so amazed by what he found! That's a great plan to do some research on this system. I'm going to do the same right along with you and see what else I can find. 😊
What a wonderful find ! Your Dad did good !!
I'm so glad you liked it, Jackie! I'll tell my Dad that everyone has enjoyed seeing it and I know he'll be thrilled. 💛
WOW! Beautiful find.
Thank you, Kathy! I'm so glad you enjoyed the flossy video!!
Kudos to dad! Great find!
Julie, Thank you! I'm so glad Dad found it ☺
What a find! I’m so happy for you! Your dad is amazing!!!
I am so thankful for his wonderful finds. He's so thoughtful. Thank you, Barbara :)
What a great Dad to find this foe you and your Mom! Fantastic!
Hi Paula, and I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing the floss storage. I'm so thankful to my Dad for all his great finds. Happy stitching!
Such an amazing find, Dad's are such a treasure. I think I had just as much fun watching you go through and learn about everything as you did going through it haha!
Aw, that makes it even more fun for me too, to know you had fun following along! I just finished your last Flosstube tonight while I was working on a new start, and am so glad you're enjoying doing some more challenging stitches. That inspires me as well and I DO hope you do the pack with me for your cross stitch supplies. That would be a really fun video!
Hi Joanne, I have been watching your stitch journey and love that you are so open about how new you are. I thought I would mention this as I have also been watching "Teresa Little Stiches" and she has a 6-7 part tutorial for stitching full coverage patterns. They were from a while ago but, Teresa has set-up the tutorial for people who are very new to cross stitch. I have been stitching for a while and found the process really interesting and informative as I have also never stitched a full coverage piece...........until now.
I also wanted to mention a pattern you might enjoy. It is the Twisted Band Sampler from Norther Expressions on Etsy. It is just beautiful. Also, Heaven and Earth Designs do full coverage patterns, and you can ask for the patterns to be in a custom size etc.
Anyway, Just wanted to touch base and let you know you are doing a great job. Thank you so much for sharing, like me, there are many people who do not have close stitchy friends. Personally, I am going to start going to a group who meet monthly, but when I am home, Floss tube is the boom!!!.
Thanks again, Gai (pronounced Gay)
What a treasure!! So sweet of your dad to find that for you!! I love your stitching storage cabinet too!!
Such a treasure - I am so thankful! I'm really glad you stopped by and enjoyed the look inside. Thank you for joining me! I'm so glad you like the blue cabinet as well :) It's actually from an old mechanic shop that I salvaged years ago. I'm hoping to share more about that piece soon, too! 😊
Amazing find! Thank you for sharing-so fun to see!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching ☺️🧵
What a great find!! It's especially awesome because your Dad found it for you! Love it!
So glad you enjoyed the floss tour - thanks for joining us! I'll tell Dad how much the floss was admired by me and stitchy friends and he'll be thrilled :)
I think your fantastic floss find might be from the late 90’s or early 2000’s. I know those 200 floss numbers were the beginning ones when I started stitching in the late 80’s so that is my best guess. That’s also when the bags for floss storage became super popular. What a treat! Yay for Dad’s find.
Julie, I really appreciate you sharing these observations -- such a help! I'm going to keep this in mind as I do more research and also as I kit up projects. If I have anything that requires more than 1 skein I'll probably grab new floss to make sure the dye lots match, and use these skeins for projects that will work for a single skein. :)
Awesome find, enjoy
Thank you! 🧵♥️
Loved the video. I am busy organizing my Floss treasures, too. Your dad never ceases to surprise us!
He's such a gem and so sweet to us! I'm excited to see how your floss organization comes along!
In the 70’-80’s I stored my floss in bags but have never seen the little index tab….interesting! Your Dad has a great eye!!
Deborah, I really appreciate you sharing these insights on the organization system. Thank you! I'm so glad to Dad's good eye and all his finds. He's so thoughtful!
That’s a fun find!
Thanks, Kristi! So excited! :)
What an awesome find!!!!!!
Renee, I am so thankful!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the little tour!
Thanks for sharing, that was a awesome find.
I'm so glad you like it, Sandra. I feel so thankful to my Dad!
Lucky girl!😮
I feel so thankful! :D
Great find!
I'm so thankful! ☺
I would think if you contacted DMC comp. They could help with the mystery.
Good find Dad!
Take care
That’s a great idea. I just might! Thanks Diane.
What an amazing find!!!
Thank you! I feel so thrilled and blessed!🧵
This was an amazing find! Great job dad. Also maybe print a list and highlight what you have in the box and how many in each.
What a great idea to print out a list. I'll do that!
Oh, I'm so jealous. I've been stitching for decades and I don't think I've seen these storage drawers. I do store my floss similar to this but in plastic drawers from the container store. If you have any old cross stitch magazines this seems like something that might have been in an advertisement.
Debra, oh wow - that gives me even more perspective and an even deeper appreciation for this find. Thank you for sharing with me about your floss storage and I so appreciate you stopping by 🪡😊
Congratulations on your new floss and cabinet! Also, I’ve read Sons of Blackbird Mountain and Daughters of Northern Shores. Loved, loved them. I’ve almost finished The Lady and the Lionheart. I’m excited to see what your next book release will be! Enjoying your flosstubes. ❤️
Thank you so much. I am really grateful for this treasure. And oh wow, I am just thrilled that you've enjoyed the books and are reading L&L. Thank you for reading them!!! It means A LOT! 💛
Congratulations on such a wonderful find … your daddy did a great job … considering the price of a skein of floss and the cabinets - oh yeah great job … so until next time Happy Stitching 🧵 … 😊❤ Dena
I agree! It seemed like such a wonderful value. Feeling so thankful. Happy stitching to you, too, Dena 🪡🌻
I wonder if these boxes belonged to a needlework shop or store at one time? I would love to see a current version of this system made available again...the hanging file like rolodex index card system with clear bags is genius.
Great thought. I agree that it would be wonderful to have a current version of this. It's definitely handy and I'm going to keep an eye out for if I can find an alternative to share.
I love the chest of floss! I have a similar system for organizing floss in which I store floss in little plastic bags and keep them in a stacking plastic container. The problem being that they don’t stand up or fit correctly. I think I might be able to DIY something to fit in my stacking box that could accomplish this same idea. Great find!
Your system sounds really smart. That’s how my mom does her floss as well - and what I’ve been trying to do. My little box is now (finally!) officially all organized 😅 I really like your idea of finding a way to DIY this kind of system and I was searching to see if those sticky tabs were available online. I’m going to keep looking. 😊
Some of those threads may be on the discontinued list which could be useful for older charts. I’ve been stitching since the 80’s so some of my older threads are a slightly different shade compared to later versions of the same color. I mark them as older threads so I will know to compare when starting a project with them.
Oh that's really helpful to know. I'll look online for that discontinued list and see what I can discover. Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi girlfriend. Wanted to tell you that when the mugs were first produced, the instructions tell you to take the mug apart by removing the lid and taking the stitching out to wash the bottom and top.
Thank you for the tip, Cheryl 😌
I just looked and Yarn Tree had it with cardboard box but no longer available
Oh that's helpful to know! I'll take a look there as well. I'm wondering if there might be an option to still get the file tabs online as they are fantastic.
